Hello! I’m Kenzie and I use the pronouns she/her! I’m a homeschooled Christian bookworm. I can be found sitting on the couch reading a book or doing some homework for my co-op. I like to code and do math. I know a little bit of HTML, Python, CSS, Java, and JavaScript! I know some Spanish but I’m not fluent. I love reading Keeper of the Lost Cities. I have all 10 books. I am also a SoKeefe shipper! I think my top three favorite characters would be Ro, Keefe, and Sophie. I also enjoy reading Percy Jackson and the Olympians! Another book series that I love is Millie Maven. This is my ninth camp on Scratch. I have two dogs. Their names are Skye and Brownie. They are both German Shorthair Pointers. I love to listen to Lo-fi and Christian music! Some of my favorite songs are “Build a Boat” by Colton Dixon, “Happy Dance” by TobyMac, and “Devil is a Lier” by Colton Dixon. One of my favorite books of the Bible is John. I love how it talks about life and stuff. I also love the book of Revelation. For fun you can find me reading, playing with my dogs, or watching YouTube. In math I’m learning algebra. I’m so excited to get to know all of you this session!

Continuing with yesterday's daily, write for five minutes at least about the character you picked yesterday being kidnapped! It's okay if you don't finish. You can keep writing, but 5 minutes is the minimum. Include at least one aspect, big or small, in the story taken from a different mythology than the character. I opened my eyes and discovered that I was in a burlap sack with my wrists and ankles tied together. Where was I? Was I underground? Sure smelt like it. I tried moving my hands but I could not untie them. Suddenly, a voice spoke in the darkness, “Hello Ra. God of the Sun.” It said,
“W-who are you? Who dares kidnap me? Release me now! Otherwise, there will be consequences.”
“Whoa calm down. I’m Kenzie, I come from afar.”
“Kenzie from afar. Why did you kidnap me? I could punish you y’know!”
Kenzie sighed and said, “I was bored okay? My friend from scratch dared me to do it.”
“Well, Just release me already! You’re getting on my nerves.”
“I’ll release you on 1 condition.”
“What’s that?”
“That you let me meet all my friends from scratch IRL.”
“Ok fine. Just let me deliver this message to Athena in greek real quick.”

Part 1: Science

For this part, we will be exploring science! Well, to be more specific, botany, or the study of plants. Do you have a science class at school? You probably do! For this part, you are going to head over to the Prompt Café: https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/32510692/comments or one of the cabins (including the main cabin) and find a partner from a different cabin. Pick a plant of any type, real or not, write down its colors, and draw its shape before you start writing! Go to either one of your profiles and begin writing a joint story about this plant. It can be non-fiction, fantasy, etc.! Is it about how this plant eats bugs, saves the human population from collapsing, or heals a princess with its pollen? Be creative! Each of you should write at least 100 words, in all make your story a minimum of 200 words.

The great mango tree waddled to their throne, a cup of mango juice splashing here and there. “THIS NEEDS….SUGAR,” They bellowed, as the tiny mango servants poured the sweet powder in the mango juice. The great mango tree took a sip, and smiled. He frowned. The mango juice did not taste sugary enough. “IT NEEDS MORE SUGAR.” He yelled. Maybe they would get actualy sugar this time? Again, his tiny mango servants poured the sugar in. But it was still not enough. He needed more. So, he told them, “I want someone to go on a quest to find the sweetest sugar.”The tiny mango servants were unable to think of what to say. They knew for a fact not a single mango would even think of this. Jacky, one of the bigger mangoes, was the only one interested. She loved sugar, and ate it for every meal. She was scared to admit that once she drank the great mango juice of the great mango tree, intrigued by the sweet smell. So the tiny mango servants, running out of ideas, settled for Jackie to get the sweetest sugar, which was located in the tip of Mango Peak. So Jackie set out on her adventure. She packed a satchel with mangoes to feed her hunger. She then set off to Mango Peak. It was a long and tiring journey. It took her 3 days to get there. Finally, Jackie got there. She found the sugar, filled a sack with it, and started the journey back down the mountain. After a day of hiking Jackie made it down. She sailed across the Mango Ocean, crossed the Mango Dessert, and went through the mango forest. After another 3 days she made it back to the palace. “Here is the sugar my lord.” She said, The End.

Part 2: Technology, exactly 350 words

Lets begin this tech section! This one is quite simple. For this section, you'll be writing 350 words about a techy invention in the distant future. Feel free to go crazy! Will it be a milkshake that can talk, virtual assistant, or a lava dragon? Write about its features, flaws if any, and use! But we have a little extra: pick out a character from a mythology and write about how it would help them in their daily lives! We can't wait to see!

Name of tech invention: Lighting Rod Holder for the Greek God Zeus

The Lighting Rod holder 1000 is a cylinder shaped container that exactly fits the Greek God Zeus’s Lighting Rod. It has a feature to wash it, lock it in place, and a bad guy fighter. The washing feature when activated by the button on the side starts with a gentle rinse with lukewarm water. It then washes it with juicy meat-smelling soap. The soap is really gentle on the Lighting Rod. Then it rinses it again with warm water gently. Finally, it finishes with a warm breeze to dry it completely. To lock it, Zeus has to say “Silly Cats House '' and it will lock in place. 1000 force fields will be placed around it along with some defenses. Defenses include metal spiders for any heroes that are a daughter or son of Athena, a projection of a robot crushing metal for sons or daughters of the greek god Hephaestus, a projection of a horse drowning and saying “Save me lord” for sons or daughters of Poseidon, and more torturous videos for different sons and daughters of gods and goddesses. The Lighting Rod Holder 1000 is a silver case that fits the Lightning Rod perfectly. Zeus can easily command it with his voice. Another excellent feature that it has is a mode where it will follow Zeus. It will hover 3 feet above the ground and follow Zeus anywhere. Anything that gets in its way will immediately be zapped by powerful lighting. It can go through any solid object. Another cool feature that it has is “clear away poseidon’s farts” is where Zeus can say the command “I eat cats and dogs for breakfast” and it will immediately with no delay send out a mist that smells good. If a person is bothering him he can use the command “Cats, kitties, whatever you call them, I love them” and it will strike that person out of existence. The Lighting Rod 1000 was made by Hephaestus in his forges. It was a gift to Zeus with love from Hephaestus.

Part 3: Engineering 420 words!

There are so many engineers out there! Someone in your family might even be one! For this weekly you are going to design a mythological character's (of your choice) dream house! Write 400 words about the house. Include your distant future tech item, at least 4 rooms, and one or more outdoor extras. We expect you to talk about difficulties that might happen, and what style this house is (modern, vintage, etc.). This weekly is centered around structural engineering, but there are many other types of engineering. Get writing!

Zeus was just chilling in his throne room trying to decide what to do when suddenly he heard a pop and looked to the right. Lying on the floor was an envelope addressed to him. But there was not a return address. He opened it hesitantly and inside he found a single key with a note attached to it “For your new house.” It said, He picked up the key and immediately was teleported in front of a huge mansion-like house. It had a door that was made of some sort of purple wood. He walked along the cobblestone path to the door and reached out. Zeus put the key in the hole and turned it. A little click came from the door. Then it swung open. He stepped inside and the door slammed shut behind him. He decided he might as well explore the house. He found the kitchen. There was a big mural of himself on the wall. Zeus opened the fridge and found all of his favorite foods. The floor was made of yellow tiles and the walls had a lighting strike wallpaper on it. Zeus went on to the next room and discovered it was a throne room! He saw a box that said “Lighting Rod holder 1000” on it. “Huh.” Zeus chuckled. He sat down on the throne. It was comfortable. Immediately, a screen came in front of him. He could see anything he wanted on it. He then stood up and walked to the next room. This one was a library that had thousands of shelves with all sorts of books on them. He picked out a book with a lighting bolt on the cover. He opened it up to a random page and discovered the book was a fanfiction about him. The next room that Zeus walked into was a room with different paintings on the wall. There were some with him in his throne room at the Olympics. He also saw some with a stern look on his face looking down upon the earth. There were all sorts of pieces of art in the room. He walked to a door that led outside. He found a pool with semi-warm water. Just the way he liked it. He also found a big ladder. He climbed up it and discovered it led to a loft 30 feet up. On top of the loft was a fridge, another lighting rod holder, some binoculars, and all sorts of gadgets and more for him to play with.

Part 4: Art 204 words

This part may be a favorite for a few. For this part, close your eyes and draw a scribble. Open your eyes. What does your scribble look like? Once you figure out, trace what you see. Write a 200-word story about what you saw acting weirdly… Is it a prince, blob, or tomato? Write about how you uncover this mystery, and who the culprit is (if there is one)! If you want to end your story on a cliffhanger, that is acceptable.

I was walking my dogs down the sidewalk when suddenly I saw a pink blob in the distance. It came closer and I realized it was a ballerina. She was spinning wildly. She kept bumping into things like polls, fences, and other people. I reached and jumped out of the way so she would not bump into me. But she stopped before she reached me. She swayed side to side “H-hi.” She said dizzily. “T-this is so much fun. Ahhaha.” She said, nervously chuckled. I was kind of worried for her. Then she started spinning again down the sidewalk. I stared at her until she was out of sight. I started walking down the sidewalk again but then I heard a noise that sounded like screaming to my right. The ballerina was jumping between the trees like a monkey. “Why are you doing that?” I asked. “Mwahahaha. I’m crazy, oh my.” She replied. “Ok. That does not make sense but ok.” She continued to jump back and forth between the trees. Suddenly she started to scream and shout things about Scratch Writing Camp. She was making me dizzy with all the back and forth. Maybe if I stood really still she would calm down.

Part 5: Math 156 words

Math is one important thing. It can be challenging, but it's everywhere! Close your eyes and point your finger somewhere. Open your eyes! What are you pointing at? Make a 150-word lecture about this object and how it relates to math. Is it it's radius, distance between two parts of it, or is it a math textbook? Use at least to math-y words and explain their definition. If you are finding this challenge a bit challenging, we are okay with you using multiple objects, simply describing the shape, how many sides it has, or how it might help you when you are doing math (ex: makes me feel more comfortable/intelligent/etc.).

I pointed at my computer. It is 44 centimeters long, roughly 36 centimeters tall, and a width of 17 and a half centimeters long. It has 6 sides. It is 1,276 square inches for its surface area. The start button is 10 inches from the top and 4 inches from the button. It is a cuboid which is a rectangle version of a 3d shape. Now for the second object.It is the chair I am sitting on! It is 40 inches tall from the ground, 18 and a half inches long, a width of 16 inches, and 25 inches from the seat to the top. So, I wanted to find the hypotenuse which is the long side of 90 degree triangles. So the equation for finding the hypotenuse is x² + y² = z². I’ll go solve the one for my chair real quick. Ok. I’m back. The answer is 30.8 inches as the hypotenuse.

Part 1:

Go to the Critique Center and Chat and find a partner that you’ve **never** talked to before, and work together to describe a character; you can decide on basic things such as hair length, skin tone, clothing style, etc. Don’t go into great detail, and try to only choose a few basic elements for your character’s design, because that will be important for the second part.

Part 2:

Now it’s time to draw the character! You and your partner will both draw your character separately, using the details you decided on previously. There should be enough room for creativity, while still working within the guidelines you agreed on.
Be sure to show your partner your finished product so you can compare! Try to see what you drew differently and what’s the same.

Aztec God Tlaloc was a god of rain, fertility and water! Today, a few people have come for his help. They need him to grow something to cure their sore throats and dry coughs. Go to the Prompt Café and find a partner. Each of you must write 60 words talking about how you can help the people get better! What cures, foods, and ingredients do you have in mind? In all you both together would have written at least 120 words. This is a bidaily. This bidaily is worth 30 runes.

To help the people with sore throats and dry coughs get better, I could give them some water! When I have a dry cough I drink water to help it get better. They could also get some medicine from their local supermarket or medicine store. I recommend drinking a glass of water, sitting in a steamy shower, and drinking medicine! Hope this helps!

Greek Goddess Athena just invented a rake! She was so happy except…someone broke it! While Athena is working away to build a new one, she needs help to find who did this! Kenzie: Hello Medusa. Somebody broke Athena’s rake and we don’t know who. You were one of the suspects. Can you please tell me about yourself?

Medusa: Hi Kenzie! I’m an 18-year-old teenager. I go to school at Shelbyville School. I enjoy Badminton, cooking, and chess.

Kenzie: Great! Where were you at 8 o’clock yesterday morning?

Medusa: Oh! I was raking the leaves in my backyard. It was really warm out.

Kenzie: *check notes and sees that they say that it was cold out last morning* Ok! Great. Have you ever been to the mountain where the Gods live?

Medusa: No I haven't but I’ve heard that the fountain tastes like chocolate.

I was just walking in the woods behind my house when suddenly I saw the Roman God Diana. I bowed and said “It is an honor to see you.”
“Hello! I saw a hungry bear family yesterday, would you be able to help me?” She asked.
“I would love it too!” I replied.
I ran to my house to get a backpack with a sandwich my mom made for me, extra clothing, and a few other survival items. I ran back to the spot where I met Diana. “Ok! Ready to go?” Diana asked. “Yeah! I’m ready to go!” I replied. So we setted off on our journey. We climbed steep cliffs, crossed a lot of creaks, and walked through the woods. “What do bears eat anyway?” I asked after a few hours of silence. “Fish.” She replied. “So, we’re just getting some fish?”
“Oh, It’s not just any old fish. It’s the Cloud trout that is found below water falls. To the bears, they taste really good. Cloud trout is very very rare and can only be found in certain parts of the world.”
“So how far until we get to the place that it has Cloud trout?”
“Just a little further.”
We walked in silence for the rest of the way. I saw a few foxes. One of them even let me pet them. I saw tons of wild animals that were attracted to Diana. They would gather at her feet and ask for belly rubs. I got to pet a lot of the animals. During one part of the journey, a deer let me ride her. Finally, we reached the Cloud trout. We speared five of them. Just as we were about to head back, I woke up and realized it was all a dream. But then I looked at my clothes and realized they were torn. I smiled to myself and saw that it wasn’t.

Sisyphus groaned. He was forced to roll this boulder up for eternity. Just when he would get it up, it would come back down. It was his punishment for trying to cheat death two times. He was just about to get the boulder up for once but then a noise startled him. He took his hands off the boulder and it rolled back down. “Ack no.” He looked to where the noise had come from and he saw a figure with a black cloak on. He could not see her face but he knew she was a girl. She was a slender and tall figure. “Hello Sisyphus.” The figure said. “I’ve come to help you escape this prison. I have watched you every day roll the boulder down but then watch it go back down this steep hill. I’ve come here to help you.”
“Oh um. Thanks. I really need your help. It is so tiring rolling this boulder up the hill just to see it go back down just when it’s almost all the way up.”
The figure in the black cloak started walking towards Sisyphus. “Ok, Sisyphus.” She said, “What I want you to do is put one finger on this boulder. I’m going to push it up the hill. And technically with you standing there, you helped too.” She put her hands on the boulder and started pushing it upwards. After an hour it was all the way up the hill. Sisyphus sat down and laid back on the grass. “I did it. I’m free!” He jumped up and walked down the hill, took one last look at the boulder, and continued walking. “I’m going to go find my wife! We’re going to escape this place, go up to the surface, and start a family again!” He spoke. Sisyphus kept walking down the hill and kept walking until the cloaked figure could not see him anymore. The cloaked figure took off her hood and sighed. She was actually Sisyphus’ wife. She started floating and went through the rock ceiling. Finally, she took one last glance at the underworld and then she disappeared.
