Scratch-Classmate "Scratch Prototype for Microsoft"

Most of the file types aren't supported on the device im using rn, but by looking through some files it seems to be a very early version of Scratch that came with a full instruction manual, and a .html file (allscreens.html, find it help > en >) that displays a gif for every block and its usages

There are also 2 project files “Journey_to_the_center_of_the_earth.sb” and “RapaNui_for_MS.sb” of course, I cannot view these on the device im using rn, but im sure they are likely tutorial projects.

What im wondering is, where did you find this?

Ok so, I managed to load the projects into the 3.0 editor, journey to the center of the earth is a project where a man goes through each layer of the earth explaining what its about, but im not fully sure because the entire voiceover is in some sort of indian language. Surprisingly, it seems to be very poorly drawn, and entirely in bitmap (further proof its from an early version of Scratch)

Rapa nui is even stranger, where all of the graphics seem to be made by a young kid, and cropped from a picture of a drawing. It seems to be a very elaborate civilization game with all sorts of easter island heads around the place, and its just generally very confusing. Im sure you can open the files yourself to see what im talking about…

Needless to say, its a weird project

also, the example project “Journey_to_the_center_of_the_earth.sb” has the block
change costume by (2) ::looks
which isn't even accessible in the normal editor
this version also has a unusual glossy design, and the variable blocks in this version were very well designed and thought out

Can you please share the projects? It's just a zip with an empty folder inside for me, but I really wanna see them.

but the about window calls it “Scratch Prototype for Microsoft” and retro_person's post calls it “Microsoft Scratch”, so what does this version have to do with Microsoft, and why does it have such an unusual layout compared to other versions made at the time and foreign sample projects?

Change costume by () was a 0.x block
