Wii Modding/Homebrew Topic!
Probably hardware mods, as the Wii has barely enough memory to run Windows XP, storage space shouldn't be a concern though because I'm wanting to run this from a USB drive.Do you mean hardware mods or soft mods?beeger sneepSo there is gonna have to be some modding required.
Edit: I should probably mention that it would be best to test things on an emulator such as Dolphin before going straight to physical hardware.

Honestly I think it couldSo there is gonna have to be some modding required.I'm sure the Wii could run Windows 95/98, these are it's minimum hardware requirements:
Windows 95:A personal computer with a 386DX, 20MHz or higher processor, running the MS-DOS operating system version 3.2 or later, or running Microsoft Windows version 3.0 or later, or running OS/2 version 2.0 or laterWindows 98:
Note: Do not install Windows 95 on a computer with a B1 (stepping) chip.
4MB of memory (8MB recommended)
At least 70MB of available hard disk space for installation
Actual requirements may vary based on features you choose to install. UITS recommends that you keep at least 10% of the drive free to reduce errors and fragmentation; therefore, on a 1GB drive, keep 100MB free.
One 3.5" high-density disk drive or a CD-ROM drive
VGA or higher resolution graphics card486DX 66 MHz or better processor (Pentium recommended)
16 megabytes (MB) of memory (24 MB recommended)
120 MB minimum of free hard-disk space (Note that typical installation requires approximately 195 MB of free hard-disk space, but may range between 120 MB to 295 MB, depending
CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive
3.5-inch high-density floppy disk drive
Display adapter and monitor that support VGA or higher resolution
Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device.

Agreed, who knows if this mod can be dangerous if not done properly.Probably hardware mods, as the Wii has barely enough memory to run Windows XP, storage space shouldn't be a concern though because I'm wanting to run this from a USB drive.Do you mean hardware mods or soft mods?beeger sneepSo there is gonna have to be some modding required.

How is this related to scratch may I ask?(and how would you change the speed without overclocking it?).
If you wish to change the speed as in decreasing it, you can use underclocking, but that's obviously not the case, sadly.

Windows XP minimum hardware requirements:So there is gonna have to be some modding required.Microsoft's minimum requirements for Windows XP are a 233 MHz processor, 64 MB of RAM, 1.5 GB of available hard drive space, and an SVGA-capable video card. UITS has found that computers not exceeding those requirements run Windows XP poorly or not at all.Wii's hardware:beeg sneep
You all are ignoring a massive problem: architecture. How is this related to scratch may I ask?It isn't
Also, I am a bit skeptical about the processing power. The minimum processing speed is 3-4 times less than the Wii's, but I'm still not sure if that would be sufficient (and how would you change the speed without overclocking it?). I think the memory would be good if you, again, had something like ReadyBoost on the Wii.
The wii uses power pc architecture. Windows XP is only for x86. Software for x86 processors will not run on power pc hardware. The hardware requirements of XP also put emulation out of the question.

Maybe we can build our own OS that supports the Wii hardware? You all are ignoring a massive problem: architecture.I forgot about that, maybe there's some other operating system that could be run?

That would be pretty cool, to be honest, however I don't know if I'm gonna be able to help much.Maybe we can build our own OS that supports the Wii?You all are ignoring a massive problem: architecture.I forgot about that, maybe there's some other operating system that could be run?

Why not just use the os that already exists on the wii thenMaybe we can build our own OS that supports the Wii hardware? You all are ignoring a massive problem: architecture.I forgot about that, maybe there's some other operating system that could be run?

Oh hi. Um, if you're reading this, can you possibly add a notice to the OP saying to refrain from all discussion of piracy? People seem to be discussing it.How is this related to scratch may I ask?The category this topic is posted in (Advanced Topics) can have topics that do not relate to Scratch. Um, if you're reading this, can you possibly add a notice to the OP saying to refrain from all discussion of piracy? This already exists in OP. As a rule.
People seem to be discussing it.They do appear to be discussing it, but they are mainly saying “downloading copyrighted wads is illegal” or stuff like that.

Help!! I think I corrupted my Wii!!
Sorry: so I was trying to execute gecko codes onto Mkwii using riivolution but when I did it crashes everytime I set the hooktype and whenever I launch riivolution. But when I went to data management to see if my data was corrupted I decided to see if the channels were corrupted so I want to press the channel icon but it froze when I pressed A.
