Out of curiosity: how does the ST choose featured projects?
I'm really curious about how the ST chooses projects to be featured. Until now (even if not always) they usually are simple projects. So, I understand that they can be interesting to be studied -and maybe remixed- by new Scratchers.
Sometimes instead -I dare to say rarely- featured project are beautiful, very complex projects. For example, the “3D shadows” project (https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/735550406) is really cool, but 1) it is very complex, 2) has no comments inside that can be of help to new (or, given the complex subject, even very old) Scratchers, and 3) it is not written in english, so all custom blocks are really obscure to any not-chinese-speaking Scratcher (and it is a pity, as I would really love to be able to understand something more about it).
So, back to the original question: what are the criteria of the ST to choose a simple or a cool project as a featured one?

I found this quote:
When the Scratch Team thinks a project shows a good use of Scratch, we featured it. We feature many different kinds of projects made by Scratchers of many different experience levels. Our hope is that some of the projects will appeal and perhaps inspire others. So, keep making good projects and one day your project might be featured.

I found this quote:
I understand that. But there are a lot of very good and “inspiring” (at least to me) projects that are 1) not glitchy

in the end, all of these things are based on opinion.I found this quote:
I understand that. But there are a lot of very good and “inspiring” (at least to me) projects that are 1) not glitchyand 2) can be understood by all -at least a-little-bit-english-speaking- Scratchers. So, even if this project is cool, I guess that “unquestionable judgment” is among the basic criteria.

Out of curiosity: how does the ST choose featured projects?
The Scratch Team sometimes features complex projects. There is no criteria on how “simple” or “complex” a project needs to be in order for it to be featured. 1) it is very complex,
I don't think a lack of comments affects whether or not the Scratch Team chooses to feature a project. While some projects are featured because they're easy to change/remix, others are featured simply because they serve as a good example of what could be created using Scratch. 2) has no comments inside that can be of help to new (or, given the complex subject, even very old) Scratchers,
There are more people who use Scratch than those fluent in English! I think Scratchers who are fluent in other languages appreciate the representation of their language as a featured project. (Indeed, those who are not fluent in English would not understand any featured projects that are written in English.) 3) it is not written in english, so all custom blocks are really obscure to any not-chinese-speaking Scratcher (and it is a pity, as I would really love to be able to understand something more about it).
