In the output properties tab, go to the output panel, set file format to FFmpeg Video. Under Encoding, choose the MPEG-4 container.

Yes, I'm trying to directly render it as an MP4 file. It doesn't save anything as MP4 (only PNG, WEBP, JPG, etc), and I used the “Save As” option.

That's to save the current frame as an image. You don't need it.

I had to export it as a different file and then convert it.
