Basically, you guys are proving my point. The Switch could hypothetically be used like a tablet (albeit a smaller screen). The PS4 also has a web browser, wouldn't you have to have a cursor to click links? Soooooooo, you can use Scratch but with limited function.

P.S. would the JoyCon buttons correspond with keys?

Scratch on switch, like I said, will take up so much storage if you’re an active developer, unless the files are stored on scratch servers, but then you couldn’t use scratch offline, which defeats the entire point of scratch on a gaming console meant to be able travel around

Please say why you support, the Scratch Team adds things based on the reasons they should be added, not just because of the number of supporters.
I have many game ideas, many of which feel like console games, and I already plan on using keybinds based on a controller. So having the ability to assign a controller button* to these keys may help to reach a greater audience, and have a better way to play these games. That way, you just have to assign a key to a button and check for key press as if it were on PC. The thumbsticks (L3/R3) could move the mouse around and when clicked in, clicks the mouse.
*
assign [button v] to [key v]

Edit: tried to get the block as a dropdown
Edit2: moved & changed block and added a sentence

Estimate how much storage it takes to save one game.

Everybody. This is about connecting controllers to your device via usb, NOT loading scratch projects to switch. Doing this is rejected. Please stay on topic.

keep in mind that scratch does know this exists and in the official rejected sugggestion thread its says
scratch for console will never be added, but it doesnt say controller support is never gonna be added, heck it links to here
Congratulations! You are probably the 100th person to bring that up on this thread!

(The sarcasm is a joke, but in all seriousness, the fact that this is related to a rejected suggestion has been brought up quite a few times)
and i will say it again

What if we could use Joy-ConsTM?
I think those use BlueTooth as well so they might work.

However, there might be some controllers that don't support common controller inputs (like XInput or DirectInput) and I think Scratch might only accept those (most computers also have both of these drivers).

I have been a long supporter, so let me clarify:

  • This is not Scratch App for console. THAT has been rejected, if I'm not mistaken.
We have already gone over most support problems, such as motion support and Joy-Con. This has become a petition.

Adding to that, joycons as plain bluetooth controllers are not rejected, only motion is.

Where is adding motion controls to scratch rejected? It's not included in this suggestion, but that doesn't mean it's rejected. Can you give a citation?

I feel like an easy-ish way of adding motion is with assigning a keypress to when the controller is shaken.

yea that could be a issue as not all controllers have motion (xbox)

would dual joycons work? cause to play normal games with them you need a program so the computer uses them as one controller
