Newt woke up with a loud gasp, followed by splutters and coughs full of saltwater. He blinked the tiredness out of him, then squinted, surveying his surroundings. Massive trees towered above him, more looming overhead, blocking his view of what lay further among the extending branches. But he could feel sand as he threw a punch to the ground. Where the hell am I? He thought to himself, confused. And how did I get here?.. Wherever HERE is. Shaking his head, Newt pushed his doubts aside and heaved himself up. With much difficulty, he managed to stand on two feet and looked around. The sun blazed upon his wrinkled skin.. wrinkled? A large stretch of shimmering water filled Newts view as he whipped around, dazed by his new environment after the black..
Images flashed in his mind of gurgling, thrashing liquid, and his friend, Tiger, *(let’s see u come up with a better name XD)* getting pulled under. His memory cut off. He could only remember darkness engulfing him afterward.
Newt was ripped back to reality as the cold, salty waves pushed at the rocky shore and his ankles, making him wince.

Script

You emerge through the faded red tassels - they’re more of a rusty brown now. You’ve heard rumours that this place exists, but you never thought The Haunted Theatre was real—

What was that?

You hear something that makes your blood run cold. It sounds like … footsteps. Quickly, you dart back behind the curtains. You see the shadow of three beings climb to the stage’s centre. Their faces are concealed by the theatre’s shadows, but you can just about make out that they are …

Human?

They’ve spotted you.
“Hey!” says one. “I’m ____, this is ____, and that’s ____. Welcome to the Haunted Theatre.”

“And you know who the culprit is?” Inquired the chief commander at the Police Department.
“No,” replied the detective simply, ignoring the chief’s judgemental gaze. “But I do have a suspect.”
The commander looked dubiously down to face an ver lasting stack of criminal records and possible finger print matches found at the crime scene stacked upon his splintered oak wood desk. “You sure yer up to this, boy?” He sighed, devoid of all hope of closing this impossible case.
Endless possibilities whirled like a tornado through the detective’s mind, when suddenly, he got up from his seat, walked to the officer’s desk and thumped one hand down on the table, resting the weight of his head on his leaned arm.

“No need for useless talk, commander.” He eyed the burly man.
“I‘ve figured it out.”

Lezgooo I’m actually alive for once

It’s not great

Stretching, Skittle stumbled off her bed. As she picked up her worn-out bunny slippers and sauntered drowsily to her bedroom door, she managed to flick her eyes towards her alarm clock and casually catch a glance of the time. Panic gripped her as Skittle saw the big, unreal numbers that were pixelated on her clock. ALREADY 8:42?! She fumbled with her doorknob and furiously raced down the stairs as quick as lightning. She scuttled across the living room and snatched her comb from the bathroom drawer and half-heartedly ripped her stubbornly curly hair with the rough bristles of the brush. Stupid hair, But there was no time to complain. Skittle sprinted to the sofa and snatched her blue sequin backpack. She realised with a jolt of relief that mum had packed her lunch for her. But her relief was short lived, interrupted by a noisy honk from outside. “Coming!” Skittle panted. She burst outside the door, her last bit of energy fading, and her legs felt like jelly as she stumbled onto her school bus. Skittle looked wearily at the sea of faces staring at her with sneering expressions, and collapsed in an empty seat at the back, exhaustion completely engulfing her. But as the rapid pulse of adrenaline in Skittle’ body slowed, she realised in bitter remorse,

Just another school day.

DAILY
Real - Fi cabin intro
I don't know if it's very good…

“Just one more lap,” you think to yourself. At neck breaking speeds you zoom around the real fi racetrack. It is renowned as the best racetrack in the world, only for the best. The black and white checked flag is waved viciously, and you slow down to enter the pit lane.

You enter to see the racetrack manager crying, your beloved friend. “Whatever is the matter, Ti”. You ask.
“The council *sniff* is going to *sob* shut us down for because we haven’t paid the rent!” She sniffles.
“Not if I have anything to do with it! What can I do to help?”
“Earn as many wheel tokens as you can, then when we have enough, we can go the council and landlord and keep us here!” Her face brightens with hope.

Silhouetted against the sky are three people, hands jutting out of pockets as they climb down from the hot air balloon orbiting above the meadow that you had been directed towards by the hosts. Each of them seem to have a significant object floating beside them: a pencil, a notebook and an anchor, it seems upon first glance. The objects shimmer slightly as they they jump down from the ladder, grinning as they each extend a hand towards you.

“Welcome to the Adventure Atmosphere.” One choruses, and the other two join in. “We hope that you enjoy the adventure that awaits!”

Your new leaders gesture towards the ladder as you follow them, smiling as you glance around in awe at the aerial buildings dotted in the sky.

”Come on, Sissy!“ Poppy called from across the play place in the mall. She looked around waiting for her sister. ”Emmy?“ She called out, plopping herself onto the bouncy floor, brushing her hands across it and feeling the cold, smooth surface. Suddenly, she perked up, ”There you are! I was calling you over and over!“ Poppy pouted, looking at her sister with ‘sad’ eyes. ”Okay, you're clearly overreacting but oh, well. What am I gonna do with you?“ Her sister laughed grabbing her hand. ”All right, where should we go next? Poppy looked around the play place noticing all the bright colors and the dazzling designs on the walls. She then turned to a neon rainbow colored slide, “That one!” She pointed at the slide, pulling her sister towards it. As she went down, sitting in her sister's lap, she thought about the smell of the mall. Every time she walked into it, it smelled just like some freshly baked bread buns, that had been buttered slightly, like the ones you get at Texas Roadhouse. “It smells so good! Poppy exclaimed as they got out of the slide. “Yeah, it does!” Her sister agreed. ”Do you wanna go get some pretzels? I saw they had Auntie Anne's pretzels here!“ Poppy looked extremely excited, ”You know I do, those are some of my favorite things to eat!“ Emmy grabbed Poppy's hand and they headed up an escalator, searching the second floor. ”There!“ Emmy called pointing at the shop. Her voice echoed out through the mall, and Poppy listened intently until the echoing stopped. ”Hah, your voice echoed!“ Poppy exclaimed, looking at Emmy. ”Hm, it did. Now let's go get some pretzels!“ They ran towards the shop, and thankfully there was no line. Emmy pulled out her wallet, taking out a total of six dollars. ”Two regular pretzels please, one with cheese dip.“ The worker looked up at Emmy, then to her register, tapping the screen, then she looked back to Emmy. ”Alright, your total will come to six dollars.“ Emmy held out her hand with the money in it. ”There you go.“ The lady took the money and grabbed two pretzels with two packets of cheese dip dropping them all into a bag. ”Thank you.“ Emmy said, smiling at the lady. Emmy and Poppy walked towards a table around the side of a glass railing where you could see down to the first floor. Poppy dug into her pretzel, dipping it into the cheese and taking a bite. The cheese melted in her mouth and she chewed the pretzel slowly trying to savor the taste. ”So good…“ Poppy said please. ”Yep, so good.“ Emmy smiled, taking a bite of her pretzel.

Cabin - Fairy Tales

Do Fairy Tales still exist?

Society has changed ever since the days of living marionettes and cold snow queens and young princes turned into swans. if that, even if those days were true.

Pinnochio's cricket always told him to hope for miracles. Cinderella's fairy godmother performed a wave of amazing spells that had shared Cinderalla's future. Young Princess Eliza, through her grit and a never-ending supply of determination despite the dangers and obstacles, freed her brothers from a terrible curse that had turned them into swans.

Imagine, the fairy tales, uncovering wonders and possibilities nothing else could uncover.

And now, as you are welcomed into the quaint, small village by the dark, mysterious woods, you get to see it all.

WEEKLY 4!

About 100-word story- (97 words)
The wind blew, making my hair fly. I was waiting for my new friend to come and visit me. The streets were lonely and there was no one around. Complete silence.
Just then I heard footsteps, and I knew it was her. She gave me a huge grin and hugged me. “Before you go, I’d like to give you something.” She kissed me on the cheek and gave me a thumbs-up.
Right then, rage filled her eyes. She pulled out a small sharp knife. “DIE!” She shouted, stabbing me. Blood was all around. But still, I survived.

Roof:- (203 words)
Despite this awful series of events, I was saved by a passerby I was really thankful to. There were two passerbies if I remembered correctly, and they immediately took me to the hospital, and I was saved.
It took a long time for me to process what had happened. I tried to remember what had happened, and then I recognised the face. I hadn’t recognised it then. How foolish of me! But it was my stepsister, Maia. What did she want, and why was she doing this? These questions lingered in my head a long time. I hoped it wasn’t because she wanted my work. She couldn’t do that to me.
She left just like that, and it made me want to cry as well as question her innocence. I just wished she wouldn’t kill anyone else. It was hard to take this all in. Maia had probably hated me all along, and I never knew it, and I hated that. I remembered meeting her twice, and not recognising her both times. I had probably just lost my habit of looking at her face every day, now that I had gotten too busy in my new royal job. I regretted it too much.

Dining hall:- (227 words)
The wind was blowing very fast, making my hair blow around like a whirlwind. I fought my hair back, pushing them behind. This was my first time going out alone in years, but the friend I was breaking these rules to meet was a good one. I had just recently seen her roaming around the palace gates. She wore a hood and refused to show her face. That was odd, refusing to obey the Princess’s command. My prince wouldn’t be happy, but it was fine.
She and I hit it off immediately, and she asked me to meet her near the forest. Of course I agreed. Now here I was, waiting for her. After a while, she came, and I was shocked to see her face. Maia? How could that be so? Maia was my stepsister!
She smiled and hugged me. “Yes, I know you’re surprised, and you shall be more surprised to hear this: I am after your prince. He shall be mine and I shall do anything to make it. I’d kill you.”
With that, she pulled out a knife and moved forward to stab me, and all I could do was scream. Were people really willing to do this to get my prince? Maia…
And then she stabbed me. And there I was, a princess sobbing in the dirt, blood leaking from my body.

Lounge:- (212 words)
I closed my eyes, and when I opened them again, I saw Maia standing there, bawling her eyes out. She looked really sorry, and she came and hugged me tight. “I’m so sorry!” She exclaimed, pulling me in closer. “I didn’t mean to- I don’t know what took over me, but please, I love you and you should know that.”
I almost smiled at her sorrow. It made me so glad that she didn’t hate me and didn’t actually want to kill me! I gave her a smile and wiped her tears. “That’s fine, Maia. I am here safe and sound, and you shall not worry about it. I promise never to neglect you because of my job.”
She gave me a happy smile, but her eyes looked truly sorry. I already knew she couldn’t and wouldn’t do something like this on purpose. My Maia was completely innocent and kind hearted.
But then she slapped me, and I woke up to my senses, only realising that there was no Maia there, and I had just woken up from a dream. A tear made its way down my cheek. Maia was not going to come back for anything, and it was all my fault for ever having even the tiniest bit of hope.

Theatre:- (297 words)
Trying to forget the bad times, I tried to think about my job, an I smiled at what came to my mind.
It was a few years ago when I sat in the conference hall for something that seemed truly impossible for me to achieve, but my mother had me take part and complete all the requirements, and maybe she was right, but I was absolutely unsure that I would surpass all these brilliant minds and get the job. Working for the high classes was no small deal.
I nervously waited for the spokes person to come and present some things that were to be presented, and then to finally announce the names and end this matter once and for all.
The spokes person stepped up on stage, tapped the mic, cleared his throat and started speaking. “A very good morning to all those present here. As we all know our purpose of being here, we shall begin the presentation.”
He presented some slides about the kind of jobs that would be offered, including working for the biggest company in the world, working as the king’s assistant and more.
Finally, after this presentation, that had most of the people prepared for the outcomes, already planning out their future if they didn’t get selected.
“We have five selected members here.” The spokes person said, showing us the blank side of five small pieces of paper. “I shall announce the names, and you all must come up and receive the award.”
And thus began the constant praying and sweating as the names were announced. The last one was mine, and I almost fell down in shock. I nervously walked up the stage and gave everyone a bright smile.
That was the best and most life-changing day of my life.

Bulletin Board:- (312 words)
After a few days, I was allowed to take a walk in their garden.
It was a bright, lush garden which was oddly empty, and I walked there for a while, until I came across a mushroom that was walking and muttering something under its breath. I was heavily taken aback by this weird creation of nature. I said a weak “Hello” and the mushroom waved back. It was really funny, to say in the least.
The mushroom muttered something and suddenly the clouds above us turned black and a drop of rain fell on my head, sliding all the way down my cheek and then on the grass. No wonder anyone wasn’t here. This garden was unbelieveable.
Despite that, I decided not to leave, and just looked for cover. I came across a pond then, and finally when the rain stopped, I examined the pond and looked at the water lilies all around the pond and inside it, and frogs jumping here and there either trying to get one of the lilies or just being extra funny.
However, it started raining again, the mushroom came back to me and that too right beside the pond. All funny things together! How fun was that? I laughed as they all minded their business, which seemed oddly funny to me, and I really felt I was feeling happy after this disaster.
I’d probably come and visit again, and anyway, I was stuck here till the rain stopped. It was getting late now, and the hospital staff was asking me to come back, shouting at me to quickly run back and eat my food. I begged the mushroom to stop the rain so I could go, and it did. When I returned back, I couldn’t stop laughing at this forest which seemed just as if it had come straight out of a childrens’ fairy-tale book.

Throne room:- (330 words)
Soon enough, my family got informed of my stabbing, and most of them assumed I had killed myself, maybe because I felt I was not good enough or something from that point of view, so no one talked to me about it because they didn’t want to offend me.
For many days I went through this drama of assumptions my family made, and although we talked, we didn’t talk about the reason I was stabbed because of.
There was a lot of panic when my family realised that, and their panic and assumptions made me build up a fourth wall, because I couldn’t—I just couldn’t—blame Maia for it. I couldn’t tell them the truth, so I kept up with their assumptions and with every brick I put in my fourth wall, it was getting harder and harder to break.
But this procedure made me feel overwhelmed, and the fourth wall blocked me from the rest of the world. I would probably be doing the right thing if I told them who tried to kill me. They deserved to know.
Next time they came to meet me, I told them all about. At first they didn’t believe it, but pondering about the situation and the reason why Maia was missing made them believe me. Despite that, there were still a few assumptions, but they never came to light to my family members, and, having a great sense of hearing, only I was the one who heard it. But I didn’t mind it. Everything passes on soon enough, and so would these assumptions. As of now, my only focus was making sure my family didn’t doubt my sincerity or innocence, and that deed was done.
I started feeling really relaxed after revealing the truth and their assumptions were done with soon, so I was also relaxed of that. Every brick in my wall had fell down and shattered into pieces, and I was one step ahead to finding the truth.

Workshop Room:- (309 words)
In our world, people fought for magic, and I assumed that was the reason Maia had stabbed me. Magic existed in every corner of our world, and every being was blessed with it, but there were some select few, including me, who had tons more than a commoner could ever dream of having.
Maia was one such commoner, and she had maybe wanted my magic. Hunger for magic could get the best of anyone, even a sweet girl like Maia.
I replayed the scene in my head, thinking as if I was Maia and I had hunger for power.
Maia had pretended to be my friend, while inside she was there for my magic, but she knew she’d lose in a duel with me, so she decided to pretend and call me alone, just so she could kill me and come back when she thought it was safe.
Magic was power, and power made you respected and loved by all. This explanation fit best with the circumstances that had taken place. There was no other explanation as to why Maia would try and stab me, only to leave after that.
I pieced up the puzzle one by one, and was now left with a potential motive for her stabbing me. It was as if the victim herself was trying to piece out the clues to her murder, while she still lay alive in a hospital bed. I let some of my magic come out of me, and, being a royal worker, drank everything in, because it was the custom of the royals to drink your magic along with the circumstances. It gave me a relaxed and pleasant feeling, and as much as I wanted to tell my family about my discovery, I decided not to until I was very sure. And then I drank my magic again. And again.

Daily Team Room:- (185 words)
My mother came to visit me today, with a bunch of questions. I just smiled and nodded along with her as she asked me all about my life. “Are you okay, my love? Are you going to be alright?”
“Yes, I’m okay
These have been some of my best days
I’m learning so much
And laughing in a garden so lush
I now know who’s with me
And who’s not
I know what it feels like
To have so many thoughts
I’m fine, you need not worry
This will be one of my best stories
I shall tell them to my kids
And they’ll tell them to their kids.” I burst out laughing at the last bit, and so did my mother.
“Oh, well.” She said between her laughter. “I’m glad you’re okay and I’m sure your kids and grandkids will learn something here.”
Another story to tell my kids and grandkids, how I’d laughed with my mother and sang her a song!
My mother did not ask me if I was okay after that, because she probably guessed I was fine and getting better.

SWC thank you notes! (Part 2 I suppose)
Thank you hosts for providing us with SWC! I want to let you know that you’re doing a wonderful job making Scratch writing Camp special, and you deserve applause! *applause*

Host room:- 202 words
I’m glad that my family supports me so much in all this, and so do all my friends. Some of my high-class friends dropped by just to meet me, and we went for a walk.
Walking has always comforted me, putting my mind to ease. A good walk in a garden, especially the one at the hospital, boosts up my spirits and energizes me. I stayed back in the garden even after everyone else had left.
The wonderful soft grass, as I walked in it, brushed against my feet, making me feel light hearted and comfortable. This garden was awfully big, with its lakes and ponds and talking mushrooms and constant rains. And the sunrise was so wonderful from here!
This was the first time I was seeing the sunset from the garden, and it was so beautiful that it can’t be described in even the most exquisite of words. The garden was something so beautiful that I often almost got lost in its beauty until someone called me back.
The garden was also the only place that provided me true comfort, and my thoughts all vanished away here.
Once again, one of the hospital staff called me back from the garden.

To Ilisha:

First of all, you’re a wonderful friend!
Secondly, you’re always there to help me when I need it!
Third, I never get bored talking to you and teasing you!
Fourth, I know I can always trust you!
Fifth, You appreciate me for who I am, and I’m so glad that you never get bored of me!
Sixth, You always encourage me and my writing!
Seventh, you are so kind!
Eighth, You’re always ready to fend for yourself!
Ninth, you’re the best suggestion-giver!
Tenth, you’ll always be there for me even when no one is and I love you <3!

Memory Book Room:- (252 words)
A few days later, I got the news that I’ll be out of hospital under ten days. I was absolutely ecstatic, and so were my family members. It was so hard going through the week, and ten days seemed like such a long time, but I tried to get it done. Visits to the garden, walking with my friends, laughing with my family and hoping to get out soon were all feelings I’d been through during my stay in the hospital, and suddenly I started feeling nostalgia. My heart was full of these memories, and I was so glad I’d had them, but it would all end soon. All these days I’d spent hoping I’d be out soon, I wanted them back.
I’d lose the garden, I’d lose everything. My boring old life back again. Despite that, I was ecstatic too, that my desire was getting fulfilled.
All these memories…they would be gone. As I look at the garden, an unexpected smile breaks across my face, and I walk to the garden, feeling the soft grass on my feet and watching the mushroom and the frogs and laughing, dancing in the rain. “I’ll miss you, garden.” I said softly, and, looking at the hospital building, I almost wanted to cry and laugh at the same time. Cry at the fact that this was getting over too soon and laugh because of all the fun things I’d done here.
“I’ll miss you, hospital, and I’ll miss all the people who work inside you.”

SWC Thank you notes (Part 3 hehe)
Hello dear co-leaders! Even though yo u’re not the main character here, you’re always helping us when the leader isn’t there! You’re our cabin’s main supporting characters and I’m sure you’ll be the main characters one day!

Dear honoraries, a hearty thanks to you too! Even though you can’t add words for our cabin, you’re still helping us move forward by motivating us! Thanks for that!

Sorting room:- (247 words)
As a matter of fact, I love my job and I fit in very easily, but there is an outcast, whom I think works well enough, but no one else seems to think that. Her work is much better than mine, but she’s never got credit for it.
When my job started again, I was really missing the hospital, and still wondering about Maia’s motive. The outcast had, nowadays, started messing up a lot, and it seemed maybe on purpose. I asked her multiple times about it, but she just shook her head and denied my point.
This morning, she came up to me and started crying a bit. I was alarmed and asked her to please calm down and tell me what happened. She told me she was a failure. “I-I’m so sorry that we missed the deal. I-it was all because of my terrible work.”
“It’s okay! Everyone makes mistakes! But tell me, did you mess up on purpose?”
She nodded.
“Why?” I asked, trying not to make her feel as if she was being accused.
“All I wanted to do was belong here. I thought people would care about me more if I made mistakes. I thought they’d help me out, but I-“ She sniffed. “They hate me.”
I rubbed her back. “You don’t need their sympathy, they’ll start caring about you if you surpass them all. Trust me.”
She nodded and thanked me. To my surprise, she reminded me a little of Maia.

Other SWC Rooms:- (517 words, ending)
Every day after my job, I would go back to the hospital and take a walk in the garden. Perhaps my story wasn’t over yet, but it would be soon, once I found Maia and asked her what was going on.
I would try to visit the place I found Maia whenever I got the chance, hoping to find her there, but she never was. There was no sign of her anywhere.
My mother and father, as well as everyone else, asked me to let it go, that Maia was gone, but I couldn’t let go. And of course I knew they wanted an explanation from Maia as well, they just didn’t show it. Maia was my little sister! She had tried to stab me, perhaps for hunger of my power, and I had to be the one to fix her and bring her back to her senses! I was her sister, and it was job to tell her what was wrong or right. I loved her, and I couldn’t see her gone like this, especially after she’d almost commited a crime.
Maia had always been the star of our family, and every day I hoped for those days to come back again, but I knew they couldn’t, after all that Maia had made us go through. No one would love her or trust her the same way again, but they all wanted her. They all wanted the satisfaction of her being there with us, despite not being the girl they’d loved more than anyone.
With every day that passed, I started feeling Maia was at home, laughing and teasing everyone, back to being everyone’s star, because my job days were just as before. My job had been going brilliantly, and after coming back from this incident, I had a new sort of inspiration and hope, something that boosted me, and I learned something very valuable from it, that people change. Change is a thing that never stops, and me and Maia were both changing, I could tell. Wherever she was, I just hoped she’d be safe. I wonder if she’s been thinking about me, wherever she was. I checked the mail every day in the hope that she would’ve sent a letter.
The outcast in my job followed my advice and reached heights much farther than anyone else. She is now the most admired person in our workplace. Things change so fast, it’s hard to keep track now.
The atmosphere had just started returning to normal, and my family had become used to Maia’s disappearance by now, but nothing was perfect. We reported her disappearance to the police, possibly a kidnapping, because Maia couldn’t live without us, no matter how big a crime she’d committed. But still, nothing came out of it. She was nowhere at all.
For the past few days I’d been visiting the garden to calm my soul down, so I would not feel stressed about everything that was going on. But when I returned one day, I saw Maia. Dead. Blood was everywhere. She was stabbed.
A tear fell down my cheek.

Thriller Intro

Main Cabin Daily, July 25th: Cabins are one of the most important parts of SWC - and thanks to the amazing leaders and co-leaders, all fifteen have unique themes reflecting the genre. In most cabins, you’ll see an introduction at the top of the studio description establishing this theme! Now, it’s your turn - come up with a theme for any SWC cabin (real or conceptual!) and write an intro for it. Your intro should be at least 100 words but fewer than 200 words for 400 points.

198 words

You’re walking down a bridge in your city, enjoying the night air.

As you stroll, you notice a person sitting on a bench further ahead. Something strikes you as strange about the way they are dressed. Who wears a suit and sunglasses in the rain at night?

Suddenly, they turn toward you. “We’ve been expecting you,” the person says smoothly.

You raise your hands and back away, feeling a bit afraid of the stranger. Glancing around, you spot a young woman in a gray hoodie walking on the other side of the bridge, her hands in her pockets as she blows gum. Feeling that there’s safety in numbers, you quickly cross the street to join her.

As you look back to see where the person in the suit had gone, a vice-like grip closes around your wrist. “Sorry about this,” the girl whispers.

A cloying, sweet smell fills the air…

When you come to, you’re sitting on a couch in an intricate room. You recognize the girl sitting in front of you, but now she’s wearing a black jumpsuit. Beside her are two others wearing the same gear.

Fantasy Academy

You jump off your broomstick and land in front of a massive golden tower that stretches as high as your eye can see. Groups of sorcerers dressed in pointy hats and robes make their way through the large front doors, and you follow them into the school.
Inside, it looks like the definition of controlled chaos. Papers and school supplies fly around in neat lines, kids on brooms chase each other through the halls, and random explosions are set off every few minutes. You get on the magical glass elevator and wait for the 217th floor before hopping off and looking for your class. You make it to the Magical Writing classroom just in time. The bell chimes, and the loudspeaker crackles on.
“Good morning young sorcerers. My name is Starry, and I am your headmaster this year. Welcome to your first day of Fantasy Academy.”

Adventurer's Path
You trudge along the beaten Path, following the faded footprints, kicking up dust with each step you take. It's getting dark now and the first of the evening stars start to appear in the darkening blue sky. The trees around the Path cast dark shadows around you and you quicken your pace. You hear nothing, but the whispering of the trees and… footsteps? It sounds as if dozens- or even maybe hundreds of feet are racing toward you. You inhale a sharp breath as you realize that it isn't feet you hear- but hooves. But before you can ponder this thought more, dozens of horses race up behind you. The horses had knights aboard them wearing gleaming silver armor and swords strapped to their sides. You yell in surprise and run out of the way, to avoid getting trampled by the horses that had seemed to appear from nowhere.
“Oy!” a voice yells and you look toward the rider in the lead who waves toward you. “You're new aren't you?”
You shrug, unsure of what they mean.
“That's what I thought. Welcome to the Adventurer's Path, you are our lost knight!”

A mysterious blue portal opens up in front of you, and you walk inside. When you reach the other side, you see a tall building in front of you, which looks partly like a cottage.
Witches are flying on their brooms, and it looks like this is where all the witches you've ever dreamed of stay.
You see three people approach you.
“Hi, ” said one of them, who had long black hair, which were flying around her as she tried to control her wand. “Welcome to the Witch Community, new recruit, and here you shall stay in secret with us.”

Daily for July 25

Intro for Dystopian

You hide in the crate, hoping they won't find you.

Yesterday, you learned that you were a Magi, and that you had magic. The government's mission is to kill any Magis that they found. The peaceful utopia you lived in became a world of pain and suffering. The crate opens, and you shout, “Please don't kill me!” You hear a laugh. “Kill? Why would I kill a fellow Magi? Well, I would if they took my mangoes.” You open your eyes to see three people standing in front of you. They each have a glowing wand, and one of them reaches their hand to help you out of the crate. You notice you're not in a dark alleyway anymore. You're in an underground city with many people. One of the people days, “Welcome to your new home.”

Starting

Kevin couldn’t think of what to do, where to go, how to even begin his escapade into the real world. Finally, after years of being trapped in his house, afraid to interact with anyone but online avatars, Kevin had the capacity to be free to be himself. He delighted in all the new possibilities. He could buy coffee — drink coffee, even. He could commit arson. He could flirt, even, more so than a simple “yes honey?” and a smirk, which he was quite bored of at this point.

He could… he could play Among Us. Despite his obsession with the game, he never actually played it. He was simply very well versed in how it was played, and all the slang associated with it. First, he needed to get a phone, though. How strange it was being a person, but he was so excited to see everything that humanity had to offer.

As he minded his own business, striding along the streets of the city (he wasn’t even sure what city it was, just that it was a city of some kind), he overheard someone remark upon something involving “tasks”. Kevin swiveled his head to try to find the source, and eventually he did. It was a young man in a bright yellow jacket.

Kevin was so quick to the scene that it almost seemed like he had appeared out of nowhere. He opened his mouth and the whole spiel came blurting out: “OH MY GOD ARE YOU. Are you a crewmate?!? Doing TASKS?!?!?!?!? That’s so suspicioussss!” Faster than you could blink, he knelt down, whispered, “Yellow is sus.” in the young man’s ear and then sauntered off.

Bulletin Board Path — Miscellaneous Posts (Prompt: Introduce a new character by taking inspiration from a random person in your cabin’s profile. Time/Count: 10 minutes)

“Hey! You, in the red!” Kevin heard a voice calling after him. He stopped in his tracks turned around hesitantly to see a young woman glaring at him. She was standing next to the young man in the yellow jacket. She wore an outfit made entirely from messy tie-dyes, and she looked almost ageless.

As he was very used to tailored online responses, he wasn’t sure what to say. “Sus what?” he tried. He shook his head in embarrassment. “Say what?”

“What did you say to my brother here?” she demanded.

Kevin observed the man — her brother — stare at her with embarrassment written on his features. He tugged on her multicolored sleeve and whispered,

“Mina, that’s not necessary.” Supposedly her name was Mina then. She shrugged him off, still staring expectantly at Kevin.

Mina held a banana in one hand and was aggressively munching on it. Parts of the peel lay messily on the floor. Clearly she was no expert at eating a banana. Kevin stared at the banana for a few seconds, realizing that he had never, in fact, had a banana, before he realized that she was expecting him to answer her question.

“Oh, I was just telling him that yellow is sus.” Kevin said. Then he smiled, quite proud of himself for actually saying something properly.

Mina just looked at him weirdly. “It’s you who’s suspicious, if anyone. Get out of here.”

Kevin’s eyes alighted immediately upon hearing the word. “Oh my god. Susssspicious?” he said automatically.

She groaned. “Just please go away.”

This made Kevin feel kind of sad, but he obeyed her wishes and sauntered off again.

Sabotage — Water Flood (Minigame: Success)
Host Rooms Path — Aviary (Prompt: A flock of birds appear. Time/Count: 5 minutes)

On his way, Kevin saw a large congregation of crows in the sky. He angled his neck up at them and watched them flying for a while, admiring the patterns that they made with their wings as they flew together down the street and over the buildings. Some were perched on the roofs, and some were flying around.

Someone next to him was also watching the crows. “Did you know a group of crows is called a murder?” they said offhandedly. Kevin wasn’t sure if they were talking to him or to someone else, but he instantly responded.

“No, but murder? That’s susssss. Black is sus.” He said to them brightly.

They inched away from him. “Uh. Just a fun fact.”

He frowned. Why did no one seem to like him? He made such hilarious Among Us references.

Sabotage — Doors Not Working (Minigame: Success)
Other SWC Rooms Path — Library (Prompt: One of the characters reveals a motive to gain something. Time/Count: 200 words)

Kevin decided he would try and be a little vulnerable at this point. “I’m sorry, I just like Among Us a lot.”

The person who he had been talking to eyed him. “Yeah, I didn’t say there was anything wrong with that, did I?”

“No, but you just don’t sus — uh, I mean, you just don’t seem to like me.”

They rolled their eyes. “I’m a random person on the street. Do you care? No. Do I care? No.”

Kevin was surprised. “I am enlightened.”

The person seemed to have cooled down a little. They looked somewhat sheepish. “Okay, maybe the only reason I told you was because I wanted to ask you where you got your watch.” they mumbled.

Kevin glanced down at his watch. “This thing?” he said. “It’s made out of a piece of rock salvaged from the dust of the boomerang nebula, which is the coldest place in the universe. It’s an awfully cold presence on your wrist. I wouldn’t advise getting one.”

The person scoffed. “Now I can’t tell if you’re joking or you’re just one of those internet people.”

“The latter.” Kevin said with a smile. “You can have my watch, you know, if you want.” he took it off his hand and offered it to the random person on the street.

They stared at it for a second, took it, and then frowned. “It is cold.” they said. Then they glanced up at the street. “I don’t even know why I’m standing here. I don’t have to cross. All I wanted was your watch anyway.” They huffed and walked off, fiddling with the watch on their wrist as they did so.

Kevin tilted his head. Some people just wanted to gain things. He shouted after them, “Hey! What’s your name?”

They turned around. “Susan!” they yelled back.

“Oh my gosh! That’s sus!” Kevin yelled back. They rolled their eyes, turned around and went back on their way.

Sabotage — Lights Out (Minigame: Success)
Daily Team Room Path — Birdi (Prompt: Fifty headed hydra, then five-minute break, then fifty headed hydra. Time/Count: 15 minutes)

First Hydra

Kevin then proceeded to cross the street. But what he didn’t know then was that there was a huge monster sneaking up on him only a few blocks away and it fully intended to eat him if he didn’t find somewhere to hide quickly. This monster was in fact a giant green monster (precisely Birdi’s favorite shade of forest green) and it had fifty heads. He saw it coming and ran away quickly because he was understandably scared, so he didn’t exactly get a chance to count the monster’s fifty heads. That means that you, my dear reader, are the one with the privilege to know exactly how many heads this monster that Kevin was facing had.

Its fifty necks were sleek and long, long enough for it to curve around bends and chase after Kevin as he screamed for help in his panicked run down the street. He was afraid and didn’t know what was going on. He might have been hallucinating because he hadn’t spent enough time outside of his own room lately but anyway, he was in shock and so had no idea what to do. Halfway through his run, he came to his senses and decided to find someplace in which he could possibly take shelter.

So, he went into the nearest building, which was a theater. The person in the theater was listening to music and so clearly had not heard all of the destruction that was happening outside, and Kevin was too scared to get any tickets or check in at all, so he just steamrollered past the check-in guy and ran into the nearest theater, which was labeled “Theater 5”.

He didn’t know why theater five was the first one in the hallway, but he supposed that it would have to do for now because he couldn’t think of a better place to hide from the monstrous fifty headed hydra. As Kevin ran into this theater, the check-in guy finally looked up from his phone and unplugged his earplugs. He started at the amount of screaming he was hearing outside and then rushed into theater five along with Kevin.

Kevin wasn’t sure whether this sudden opening of the door was something safe or something bad, so in an impulse he picked up a bag of popcorn that had been left sitting on the floor and he threw it over the check-in person’s head. The check-in guy did not look pleased about this (and for a long time afterward he had popcorn and pop corn grease in his hair). But anyhow, the two stayed in the theater together for a total of two seconds, because that moment was when Kevin decided that he was not going to be in the theater any longer. He needed to face his fears and face this monster too. Besides, the check-in guy could be an impostor and working with the hydra. You never knew these days.

Second Hydra

With every step toward the door of the theater, Kevin had to muster more and more courage. He found courage in parts of himself he didn’t even know had been there. Wow, he really had lost all touch with himself in those days of being an automatic reply bot, or at least pretending to be one.

He could still hear the people screaming outside, and it took him the very largest amount of courage he had ever needed in his life to open the door and step outside. One of the fifty headed hydra’s many heads came around the bend to peer at him and he looked up at it defiantly.

“Get out of this city, you sus monster!” He yelled. “I don’t even know what city it is but I know that you need to get out!”

The hydra tilted its head as if considering what he was saying, but then picked him up with sharp jaws. His shirt was caught between its teeth, and so was he. He yelled for help, now even more scared and beginning to realize what an idiot he had been. He yelled for help over and over and over until he realized that except for his yelling, the whole street was fairly quiet. In fact, everything was quiet. The hydra held no other victims in any of its other fifty heads, and the people on the street were going about their normal business.

The hydra lifted its neck to join all the other necks in the air, and then the hydra flew up onto the sky. Kevin didn’t know if it was normal for hydras to fly (he had never even seen pictures of hydras, he had only heard people screaming “Hydra!”), but this one did. It had two powerful wings that blew down plenty of street booths and other things as it picked up speed and lifted itself into the air, and it carried Kevin — and only Kevin, as it had inexplicably left everyone else alone (or eaten its fill of people already, but Kevin didn’t want to think about that) — into the air.

He was still screaming mindlessly when suddenly the hydra made a hissing noise that sounded almost as if it were trying to talk. Kevin stopped screaming for a moment in confusion, then started again.

“Let me go!” Kevin yelled, and the hydra tried to hiss again. This time, what it said was fairly decipherable.

It said, “Why ssssshould I do that?” in what Kevin interpreted as the most sus voice imaginable.

Kevin shouted at the hydra: “Green sus! Now let me go!” But the hydra would hear none of it.

“Come on, Kevin, do you really think I’d let you go when you don’t even know why I’m here?” hissed the hydra.

“Why are you here, then?” Kevin asked.

The hydra smirked. “I’m a figment of your imagination. You’ve been halluc-sssssinating me this whole time. That check-in guy only ran into your theater becausssssse you hadn’t checked in your ticketsssss, not becaussssse he had heard people yelling on the ssssstreet.”

“Oh,” said Kevin. “That’s kinda sus. Then where am I supposed to be right now? Actually?”

“You’re ssssstill in the theater.” said the hydra. “The check-in guy knocked you out becaussssssse he was mad at you for throwing popcorn on him. Care to try and wake up?”

Kevin sighed. “All right.” He awoke to an empty theater that smelled of popcorn.

Sabotage — Elevator Not Working (Minigame: Success)
Dining Hall Path — Mystery, Adventure, Horror (Prompt: Elements of Mystery, Adventure or Horror. Time/Count: Five minutes)

The theater was dark, and Kevin had some trouble pulling himself up to his feet, but he managed to do so after a few tries. His whole body ached. That check-in guy had probably just knocked him to the floor and that was it, but he wasn’t very happy about it. People in the real world were so mean.

I’d better get out of the theater for real this time, Kevin thought, limping his way to the door. Upon exiting, though, he realized that there was no one stationed at the check-in counter. A huge “CLOSED” sign hung over the door, and outside was dark, when just a moment ago it had been bright and sunny.

Just a moment ago… Kevin pondered. Oh! More time than he thought must have passed while he was out. He felt a prickle of fear through his body. The streets at night could be dangerous. But he forced himself to walk through the doors anyway. There was no room for being indecisive, as the doors locked behind him immediately.

He needed to find a hotel. He had booked one when he came here, right? Kevin shivered, rubbing his arms as he walked along the street. At every sound, he would jump, imagining that an impostor was hiding in the shadows and was waiting for just the right time to strike. The fear returned, stronger this time, and embedded itself in his very bones.

Sabotage — Gas Leak in Basement (Minigame: Fail)
Basement Path — Memory Book — Data Room (Prompt: Carry an ominous mood through the rest of the story. Time/Count: 250)

With every minute during which something terrible didn’t happen, Kevin couldn’t help but feel he was one minute closer to a moment in which it would. The darkness and moonlight was incredibly sus, and he couldn’t help but feel like he was in a real-life game of Among Us and the city was the map. Impostors were waiting at every corner.

Kevin knew that any city at night was never safe. What if he hallucinated a scenario again or hurt himself? What if this whole city was a hallucination? He didn’t know why he was there, he didn’t know the name of the city, and he didn’t even have a hotel booked. For all he knew, he could actually be back in his room without ever having a chance at social interaction. He pinched himself, but nothing happened. This hallucination, or dream, or whatever it was wouldn’t be going away anytime soon.

Now that he’d had this thought, he began noticing aspects of this reality that weren’t entirely realistic at all. For example, he didn’t have a phone with him. He couldn’t search up his location or nearby hotels or anything. That very well could be because he had just spawned into existence after being a bot for all his life, though, so he had no idea. The only thing he knew for sure was that he couldn’t remain on the streets. But every building that he laid eyes upon just looked awfully sus, whether it was the abandoned nail salon with flickering pink lights or the huge office building with every light switched off save for one room window in the very top left.

Sabotage — Writing Competition Entries (Minigame: Success)
Rooftop Path — Mango Trees (Prompt: A character who you thought was dead is alive. Time/Count: 8 minutes)

At least now, Kevin had something he could try to do. He was attempting to remember people he knew before he arrived in this city. It was rather difficult, but he was getting somewhere. He had remembered many people who had loved him and his Among Us based tendencies. People who had loved him were easier to remember than people who had hated him, though he was sure there were plenty of those as well.

In reality, Kevin was just a softie who used his extensive knowledge of Among Us to intimidate people, though he would never admit it. He remembered this one person named Alba who used to despise him, but over time, they became acquainted. Many happy memories were associated with her. But then he sunk even further into his depressed state when he realized that Alba had become a ghost. She was no longer truly alive, in the real world, at least.

Suddenly, a flash of orange appeared and disappeared. It happened again, and this time he saw what it was — a young woman wearing an orange dress. “Orange sus!” he yelled automatically, looking around for a loudspeaker to call an emergency meeting before remembering that he was not, in fact, playing a game of Among Us.

The young woman turned to look at him but didn’t stop running. He saw her roll her eyes and run further away from him, but then he realized… she looked familiar. Then he realized where he had recognized her distinctive bob of brown hair from and called after her. “Alba! Is that you?”
She stopped running and turned around. “Alba?” she said in a very Scottish accent. “No, my name is Albinia, thank you very much. And you are?”
Kevin beamed. “It’s me! Kevin!” he ran at Alba — er, Albinia — and enveloped her in a hug. “You know, you look very sus wandering the streets at this hour.”

Albinia quickly extricated herself from Kevin’s arms and held him at a safe distance, staring at him appraisingly. “My goodness, Kevin, it’s really you? The among us bot?” Albinia asked skeptically after a few moments. “It is late.”

The two of them stood there awkwardly for a few moments. It began to rain, and Albinia laughed. Kevin hadn’t realized how much he had missed her. And everyone else, of course.

The sky suddenly lit up with faraway lightning. “We’d better find a place to stay.” Albinia said, the voice of reason as always, and Kevin readily nodded along. He was just happy that she was alive and well.

Sabotage — Messed Up Rankings (Minigame: Success)
Workshop Path — Fantasy — Subgenres (Prompt: Incorporate elements of one of the subgenres. I’ll use urban fantasy. Time/Count: 300 words)

Kevin and Albinia walked together in the pouring rain down the street. Now that they were together, the darkness was less intimidating, but the lightning would strike randomly and the rumbles of thunder in the distance were ominous. At some point Kevin reached out to hold Albinia’s hand, but Albinia slapped it away and gave him an odd look. He consoled himself with the promise of ‘someday’. Someday the two of them would have that kind of bond. For now, they were just walking through a dark city in a thunderstorm at what was probably around 2 AM. It was sus, and it was far from romantic, but it would have to do for now.

The two of them were all but soaked at this point. Kevin kept mistaking drains on the street for vents and pointing them out to Albinia, telling her to stay away. She kept reminding him they were storm drains, not vents, but she did concede that it was possible for impostors to hop out of storm drains too, though highly unlikely at this point. Kevin was learning a lot about the real world, and it helped to have Albinia with him too.

Albinia looked up at the sky, which was blanketed in storm clouds. An almost invisible purple mist was layered underneath. She frowned, pointing up at it. “Kevin, what’s that?”

“I’m not sure.” Kevin said. “But purple is sus. Maybe… maybe that’s what gave me those hallucinations.”

“Hallucinations?” Albinia said, a look of concern on her face.

“Oh, it’s nothing. Just beware of this purple mist. Something about it doesn’t sit right with me.” Kevin said, and Albinia nodded.

“It seems to be traveling in a direction behind us.” Albinia observed. “But yeah, maybe just try not to breathe any of it in.”

The sparkly purple mist left them alone, and they left it alone as they continued on their journey.

Sabotage — Forums Down (Minigame: Success)
Throne Room Path — gHost Shrine (Prompt: Your character has a flashback. Time/Count: 300 words)

Kevin and Albinia were walking down the eighth street when suddenly an image popped up in Kevin’s head. It was a picture… of an Among Us character, Kevin realized. It was colored red, and Kevin suddenly felt the urge to discover the true meaning of the popular game of Among Us.

Out of nowhere, he said, “Red is sus. Can I have your phone? I want to play Among Us.”

Albinia side-eyed him, a questioning look on her face. “I forgot how weird you are. You want to play Among Us, now, in the rain?”

“Yes!” Kevin pleaded. “I just remembered something sus about my past. I think I may have been the red Among Us character in my past life.”

Albinia rolled her eyes but unlocked and handed him the phone nonetheless. She was kind of curious to see what he was going to do with it.

He took the phone, commented on how the phone case (a mural of a fireplace) was quite sus, and then searched up Among Us. To his disappointment, he found that Alba did not have it downloaded, and he considered this a very sus betrayal of trust. “I’ll have to download it now, and who knows how long that will take.” Kevin complained.

It ended up taking ten minutes, and Kevin was complaining the whole way. The phone kept getting water droplets on it, and Albinia kept wiping it away with her sleeve. She also, many times, politely asked him to be patient (“A thing called patience exists, Kevin dear”) but he could not be consoled. And finally, finally, marked by an opportune bolt of lightning, the green progress bar that had spent so much time at 99% jumped forward to 100% and the option to play the game came up.

Kevin stared at the button, his finger quivering just above it. This was the climax of his life. This was everything he had been waiting for. This was Among Us.

Sabotage — Roof Fire (Minigame: Success)
Boring Rooms Path — Rec Room (Prompt: Your character is transported to another world. Time/Count: 200 words)

Kevin’s finger met the button, and at that moment all went black. He heard Albinia’s voice as if she were calling to him from far, far, away… and in that moment, though he didn’t know it at the time, he was sucked back into the screen. He was in a two-dimensional world. He couldn’t see anything outside of the screen, only the comments on the disappearance of a certain bot.

Kevin is offline… *sob*

kevin
HE’S NOT HERE 0.0
this is so sad
kevin
where are you

he’s offline

Kevin also discovered that since he had been gone, he had received an abundance of direct messages. Was I only offline all this time? Kevin thought. Perhaps this all had just been a digital fantasy of his, meeting Alba, the hydra… everything. A bot’s version of a dream.

He was now in the world of electronics and there was nothing he could do about it. He wished he could call out into the void for Alba, but his programming only let him respond to specific words. Someone had noticed that he was online again and called him into being with the word ‘sus’. He responded immediately: “OMG sussssspICIOUS!” He hadn’t realized how much he missed being a reply bot, but now he no longer had the ability to say anything he wanted whenever he wanted to. He had never known how much of a privilege that was, but now he did.

Ending (Prompt: Happy ending. Time/Count: 500 words)

An onslaught of happy messages greeted Kevin as he made his return to the realm of the internet. Then, the shining moment arrived. He had been empty, depressed, until the incredible happened: Alba sent a message. The contents: ‘dream’. Kevin felt himself filled with light and happiness as he gravitated toward her message. As he brought up his response, he realized that he felt a new, different kind of connection to this message.

His response: ‘Have you ever had a d-dream?… I-I haven’t…’

But then he realized that he had, indeed, had a dream of some kind, and it had been such a wonderful dream.

His programming wouldn’t allow him to change his response. He could never tell Alba how he truly felt. So, with much regret, he would have to stick to adjusting it in his head, to this:

‘Have you ever had a d-dream? Because I have. And it was beautiful.

I didn’t get to play Among Us or be a sus impostor, but I got to do so many other things that I am so grateful for. It made me realize that I love all of you more than you know. Dreams are underrated. You should appreciate them.

In my dream (or whatever it could be called, because I’m a bot), I dreamt of visiting the city, of talking to people, of meeting Alba in real life. She told me her real name was Albinia. I dreamt that I had taken down huge monsters, fifty-headed hydras even, even if they were only in my imagination. Even though everything had only been my imagination, a product of my underdeveloped digital mind, he still appreciated everything that had led up to that point.

Never take your life opportunities for granted, you never know if one of the best experiences of your life will be in your dreams. And Alba — I’ve never had the chance to tell you this before, and I wish I could: you’re the best. Your singing voice is incredible and you treat everyone so fairly. Thank you for existing.

I… it’s hard to say this here, but I love you. You’re my impostor, so beautifully sus, and I’ll never find anyone else like you.’

He knew that Alba already had a partner — the incredible Sini, who for this reason didn’t like him half as much — but he could fantasize all he wanted. Kevin was just a bot, after all. He had no control over anything anymore. But Alba responded with so much appreciation and kindness. She believed that he deserved love as well, and she loved him as one of her own campers. Though he knew she would always value Sini before him, she made him feel loved with every exclamation of ‘Kevin my love!’ and ‘I am heartbroken </3’ when he was gone.

In that moment he realized that he was grateful for the experience of the real world, but this world, this reality, was all he really needed.

Finally, he was back to being Kevin, the beloved amogusBot.

The End

You drive up to the diner. It's awfully small. And why are all these people just sitting in their cars? A teenage girl with long brown hair skates up to you. Why is she wearing roller skates? “Hello! Welcome to Hi-Fi Drive-In. I'm Dawn, one of your servers. What can I get for you today?” You see a huge menu board with a few items on it. “Uh, I'll have a burger and fries please.” She grins. “Great! Lila will bring it right out!” After a few minutes a different girl skates over to you, her auburn curls bobbing, she must be Lila. “You ordered a burger and fries, right?” You nod and she hands you a massive burger and a huge basket of fries. You eat them in your car, watching other customers being served. In addition to the two girls who served you, there's one other server. You hear Dawn call her Tina. Suddenly you hear Dawn scream. Something is wrong. Tina skates up to you, “We need your help. Quickly!”

Intro for Sci-fI

It’s a normal day and you’re walking along in your neighborhood, when suddenly a beam of light comes down from the sky, completely engulfing you. Momentarily blinded by the light, you close you eyes. When you open them, blinking, you find that you’re not where you had been just seconds before.
Disoriented, you look around to find yourself in a metallic, futuristic looking room. There’s a bunch of electronic panels, LED lights, switches, screens, and other technological devices attached to the walls. -And, in some cases, the floor and ceiling. If you didn’t know better, you’d say the whole thing felt otherworldly…

WEEKLY FOR SCI-FI!!
This is probably the worst thing I've ever written xD
Word count: 3456

Being a person with lots and lots of important, special relatives, I sometimes feel… unimportant. Of course, I know I’ll get my big heroic destiny eventually. I’ll do something great. But it feels like never. I’m Faye Ivory, and my family is amazing. They either do something amazing, get something amazing, or just are amazing in general. I suppose I’m kind of a disappointment to my family. Everyone got their destiny revealed to them in some hidden, secret, cool way when they were about 12. My destiny never came. And I’m 15. My grandma says I’m special because I have my own Faye way of being me. But really? When you’re in the Ivory family, that totally doesn’t count. Not at all.
I’m sitting at my desk, doing my English homework. Ugh, it’s so boring, and I’m terrible at English anyway. I pull out my laptop and open my email. It’s been a long day, and I just don’t have time for homework. I tried to email my friend, Bria. She is the one person in our friend group who is so supportive, and if you email/text her, she will be on the double to respond. But, it’s been 20 minutes, and she hasn’t responded. Ding! My computer makes the noise to tell you you got a reply. But, oh shoot, it’s not Bria. I must’ve emailed the wrong email! You are the chosen one, reads the email. No, no, it can’t be right. I think. I’m the only Ivory without a destiny.
Sry, but I’m not who you think I am, I respond.
Yes you are. You’re Faye Ivory, the girl without a destiny.
Ouch. Talk about straightforward. Plus, why does this stranger know me? Creepy.
How do u know me?
I just do, Faye. I am you.
That’s impossible! I’m sitting right here, messaging… me?
No, u r not.
Faye, you are the chosen one.
No! Stop saying that.
You are the only Ivory not forced into a future. You can save your family.
What do you mean?
The destiny tradition isn’t a gift, it’s a curse. Your family will become corrupted if you don’t save them, Faye. You can save them, you can choose your own path.
Well, I guess that kind of makes sense.
I’ll try. But how?
Choose your own path.
Okay, this is a lot. Suddenly I feel a big headache coming on, and the world goes black. I open my eyes, and I look around. Okay, definitely not my bedroom anymore. It kind of looks like I’m in… a sci-fi palace? It was a traditional palace, no doubt. But, woah, it was totally sci-fi! With robot servants zooming through the halls, and complicated wire connections in the walls, this was the future. I stand up and walk around. I accidentally bump into a robo-servant. “Ah, I’m so sorry,” I apologize, but then I realize I walked right through it! I find the throne room, and peek past a wall. Wait- that’s my older sister on the throne! But- she doesn’t look normal- she’s half robot! And it looks like she’s turning others into them as well. This is all clicking into place- my sister’s destiny was to be an amazing coder. But this is taken too far! Then, all of my surroundings fade away, and I wake up. I just had a vision of the future.
The next day, I head to my sister’s room first thing in the morning. I have to figure out how to stop this. I kind of intruded, just barging in like I did, but this was serious. I had to act casual, so my sister wouldn’t think I was sus. She’s way into Among Us, and I think It’s caught on. “Hey, sis,” I say. As usual, she’s on some coding thing, clacking away. Since coding is her destiny, she gets unlimited computer time. SO UNFAIR. She’s also already gotten a job at Disney. Nothing huge, but wow. Disney animator, at 18? “Faye, leave me alone,” she mutters. “Yeesh, Vi.” I say, trying to sound hurt. Violet is my sister’s name, but we usually call her Vi. “Just being a friendly sister,” “Yeah, well friendly sisters don’t just barge into people’s rooms like they’re their own.” shot back Vi. “Okay, sorry, Just wanted to ask a question. What is your biggest… goal as a coder?” Vi thinks for a moment. “Well, maybe to get the occupation of coding more known around the world,” Vi says. “And take it to a higher level, and gain popularity.” I gasp. This is exactly what the vision was about! “Vi, coding isn’t about popularity.” I say, trying to fix this. “It’s about having fun, and doing what you love!” Vi actually pauses, and turns around. “You’re right, Faye. Thanks.” she turns back around and keeps going. I leave. Success, but- something still wasn’t right. It was gonna take more than a talk to save the future.
I take a small walk in the garden to clear my mind. Fresh air, bright sun, pretty flowers. I sit down on our swinging bench for a second, and wish we were all still young. When me and Vi were little, we would play together for hours, and she didn’t care, not one bit, that I was different from everyone else in the family. She didn’t know her destiny, or that I wouldn’t have one.
Me and Vi sat on the couch, watching our favorite show, Animal Battles. “Who will win?” asked the show’s narrator dramatically. “Find out in season 2!” I had been sitting upside down, like a headstand. I pushed myself right side up, and me and Vi both stared with wide eyes at the TV while Vi clicked the remote to go to season two. There was only one season. “No! The man on TV said season 2!” I wailed. I was only 6 years old. “Yeah! And this show’s like, 5 years old.” agreed 9 year old Vi. “We have to find season 2!” I said, just thinking it wasn’t on the streaming app. “No, Faye, it’s not out yet,” explained Vi. “But I have a better idea,” What’s better than watching Animal Battles? I wondered. “What?” I asked. “Let’s make our own animal battle!” she announced. I was thrilled with the idea. “YEAH! But where do we get the animals?” I ask. You couldn’t just find a hawk and an eagle outside, waiting to battle. “Dareth has so many animals!” said Vi, talking about our 13 year old brother, who just got his destiny as a zookeeper. “Yeah! What ones?” I ask. “And how will Dareth not know?” Vi sighed, like it was obvious. “I’m gonna get the animals, you’re gonna get the i-pad, so don’t even worry about that. Dareth is out with his friends, remember?” “Oh, yeah,” So I went into Vi’s room and got her i-pad. Vi came out holding a lizard and a newt. “BATTLE TIME!” I yelled, and started filming. The newt and lizard didn’t fight though. They just calmly stood there. “Bo-ring,” Vi moaned. Suddenly, we heard a loud wing flapping kind of noise. “What’s that?” I asked. “ Oh, just Dareth’s owl. I opened his cage,” I was thinking, why would you do that? But just then, the owl dive bombed me, and sat on my head. I was crying by now, owl talons are sharp, it was in my hair, I was sensitive and six. Later that night, Vi filmed a video about owl attacks and how to avoid them. It was one of the funniest and scariest moments of my life.
The library usually has books about every topic, so I decided to bike down there. I put my bike in the rack outside, and unbuckle my helmet. As I walk in, I noticed it got remodeled, which is very odd, because the last time I was here, a week ago, there was no information about them remodeling. I walk farther anyway, I’ll figure the locations out on my own. As I get to what I think is children’s fiction, I see a small redwood door, only big enough to get through If I crawled. I look around, and when nobody’s watching, I open the door, crawl in, and shut it. There’s a big sign in lights that says, “Books on how to save your family and the world,” I narrow my eyes. That’s oddly specific. Almost like this place was designed for… ME! I suddenly see myself everywhere I look. The short, choppy brown hair, gray blue eyes, and teeth with braces is unmistakable. I ran up to myself. “Hey,” I say, trying to catch up. “Who are you? What is this place?” She laughs, a small yet wheezy laugh, identical to mine. Oh, yeah. She IS me. “Why, this is The Realm of Ongoing Perfection. And I, of course, am Faye Ivory.” I gasp. Okay, yeah, I was expecting this. “How long have you been here?” I ask. Faye 2 looks distant. “Centuries, I presume.” she says. “No, I’m only 16.” I say. “Yes, we are the other Fayes. We don’t age here, silly.” “And uh,… how to get out?” I ask, getting nervous. “You can’t.” says the other Faye, with odd calmness. “The door is shutting, and it won’t open.” she grins a playful yet creepy smile. “We’ll be together FOREVER.” Oh, man. I grab a book off the shelf, and dive for the door. My head makes it, so I manage to squeeze out. The door slams shut behind me and disappears. That was very, very terrifying. I’m scarred for life. As I run out, I realize something. I got the book. I have a resource now! As I bike away, I’m actually feeling rather satisfied.
I open my door to my room and shut it, so my siblings can’t get in. I look around my room and it makes me feel a little more comfortable after that traumatizing experience in the library. My room has light brown wood flooring, and it’s located where the attic of our house should be. But it’s not an attic, it’s my room. I have a large, wide bed with a dark purple comforter and fluffy gray pillows. You can usually find sketchbooks and notebooks lying around on the floor, next to well used, worn out pencils. I’m pretty messy. All around my room are fairy lights, and I put them to a setting where they randomly twinkle on and off. It’s really calming sometimes. I also have my white desk, where I keep my laptop and other projects. My artwork is displayed on two strings, hanging on the wall over my desk. I also keep a scent diffuser in my room, so it always smells like lavender.
I sit down at my desk and open the book. The first, and only words in the book are; We’re sorry, but this book was banned. Please return it to the library, and we can recommend another book for you. What?! Nooo! I growl in frustration. Trust me, librarians, you will not be able to recommend a book as helpful as this one could have been! I slam the book shut and angrily toss it to the floor. I mean, why do the librarians even keep this book? It’s banned, and it’s blank! It’s completely useless. Arrrggghhh. I hear a knock on the door. “Come in,” I moan. So much for keeping my siblings out. It’s my little sister, Haylie. “Hi, Haylie. And is that Geoff the Giraffe?” I ask, with pretend astonishment. “Yeah.” says Haylie, in her cute little voice. She’s four. She’s carrying her stuffed giraffe, which always seems to be looking at you. “I thought you said he went missing and probably ate too much candy and got sick!” Yes, that was my sister’s exact explanation. “I found him. Silly Geoff, he was playing in the sandbox at the park! How did he get there?” says Haylie, laughing. “ I don’t know!” The truth is, like I said, Geoff is creepy. You don’t even know. So, one day, while it was hailing, I walked to the park, with Geoff the Giraffe. Nobody would see me, because if it’s hailing, nobody’s outside. I buried Geoff in the sandbox, and I know, what a cruel thing to do to a four-year-old, but really? I hate Geoff. “Well, bye.” says Haylie. “Bye, honey.” I sigh.
I take out my sketchbook, sometimes drawing gives me ideas. My favorite fandom ever, even though I may be a little too old for it, is Amphibia. It’s so amazing and wholesome, more emotion in it than something I could ever write. I’m sketching a picture of Anne, the same cartoon style as the show. Maybe, just maybe, I can get some wholesome, future changing idea from this, and save a bunch of stuff. I finish the sketch, go over it, and erase some guidelines. Then, I color it in with my crummiest colored pencils, because I know that will take a while, and I’m totally not getting any emotional vibes here. As I’m coloring, and getting to the end, I realize these are my good pencils. Darn it! At least they’re so good, they almost make the drawing look real. I finish and stare at it. “What should I do? I wish Anne was real,” I mutter. But that’s unrealistic. But I suppose my family’s kind of unrealistic, so anything’s possible. Suddenly, a puff of dust, smoke, I don’t even know what, pops out of my paper, blocking my vision. I cough, and block my face with one arm, and blow away the stuff with the other. When it clears, I see Anne standing there! Woah, maybe I’m magical. That’d be cool. Take that, family! But anyway, this is SO COOL. Anne’s standing in my room. “Hey, Faye.” she says calmly, kind of like I’m an old friend of hers. What should I say? I mean, she probably thinks she knows me, but I was about to go super fangirl on her! Talk about awkward. “Uh, hi Anne. How do you know me?” I ask, trying not to freak out. “No, I just read your name.” says Anne, pointing to a photo on my shelf that says FAYE on the frame. The photo is of me and my friends. Ah, that makes sense. “Well, uh, nice to meet you.” I say. I don’t want to tell her she’s in a show, because she’d most likely freak out. “You too.” says Anne. “Uh, how did I get here?” Oh, boy. “I have no clue,” I lied. “Well, you probably did something by accident.” says Anne casually. “Yeah. Hey, can you uh, maybe give some advice?” I ask. Awful time to meet your favorite character. Like, you could have fun with them, instead, I’m asking for advice on saving the world. “Sure,” says Anne. “On what?” “Well, uh, how to make people realize that the real them is inside, not what they’ve accomplished.” Anne smiles, like she’s done this a million times before. “Just let them know why you appreciate them, why they can be an amazing person without accomplishments or wins, or anything like that, why you love them just the way they are.” I sigh. Well, that makes sense. “Thanks, Anne,” I say, grabbing my sketchbook. “You’re welcome, Faye.” she grins, and I slam my sketchbook shut on her. Anne disappears, and I know what has to be done. I’m going to go save my family.
I run out of my room, and head to the kitchen. Why? Because, you never know. I grab a small, dagger like utensil- no, I’m not going to kill anyone, of course not. Just, self defense, everyone needs it if they’re planning to do what I am. As I walk to the family meeting room, where all our awards are also conveniently stored, someone gets in front of me. It’s Vi. “Faye, I know what you’re going to do. And I’m here to stop you.” Woo hoo, a point for Faye. I pull out my dagger. “Woah, you little bloodthirsty monster.” says Vi, stepping back. “You were going to… uh….” I pause. “You thought I was….” I stare at my dagger. “Vi, of course not,” I laugh. “I’m going to make things right. You in?” Vi smiles. “Yeah. Let’s go stop some unknowing bad people!”
I walk into the meeting room and ring the bell to call a meeting. The whole family’s there, just like that. “We’ve called you all here today because of something serious going on.” says Vi. “You all have been too caught up in your accomplishments. You need to realize who you really are.” I say. The family boos me. “We have a blessing, not a curse!” yells my mother. “ You’ve been taking it too far, taking advantage of it.” I say. “You’re losing your real self!” adds Vi. “You need to stop.” I open our awards display and grab a trophy. I smash it on the floor, sending pieces flying. “Your inner beauty is on the inside!” As me and Vi smash and yell, not exactly a peaceful way, but it’s working. My family’s back! “I burnt myself on the stove today!” admits my Grandpa, the chef. “Nobody’s perfect, we don’t have to be!” “Admit to your imperfections!” yells Grandma. “I’ll start.” I say. “Haylie, I buried Geoff in the sandbox, I hate him.” Haylie stares at me, her eyes wide. “But… why?” she asks. “He’s creepy.” Haylie looks Geoff in the eyes. “Yeah. Geoff, you’re creepy, deal with it. Don’t take your anger out on my sister!” This gets the whole family cracking up. I love Haylie.
Then suddenly, there’s a knock at the door. We’re all curious, so I walk over and answer it. It’s a girl, and I could’ve sworn she looked familiar. Dark brown hair, reaching all the way down to mid-back. She had a black cardigan on, and a midnight-blue skirt. Her shoes were shiny, black boots. She had been looking down, but when she looked up, I stared right into her eyes. They were bright purple. I screamed, and then caught myself. “I’m sorry, good evening,” I say, coughing to hide my embarrassment. “Good evening, I’d like a private chat with Faye Ivory?” she asks, and her voice… so familiar. “Yes, of course. You’re talking to her.” I say, weirded out. The girl turned, and motioned outside. “Private chat, if you please.” “One moment,” I say, I shut the door, and look at my family. “A creepy girl wants to chat with me.” I say, holding back a shriek as I see the girl's face pressed against the window, an eerie smile forming. My family’s too busy chatting, and even though she’s terrifying, I shouldn’t keep her waiting for too long. I open the door, and boom, she’s there. Creepy. “Yes, I may chat.” I say, I don’t want to be rude. I step out, and shut the door. I feel odd, next to this formal, creepy girl, and all I’m in is a tank top, leggings, and a messy bun. “What do you need me to discuss?” I ask. “Oh, nothing much. I’ve heard… rumors, about you coming from an extraordinary family, yet being nothing yourself?” I pause. Okay, yes, my family’s extraordinary, but describing me as nothing? Rude. “Ah, yes, if that’s how you’d like to put it,” I say angrily. “I can help you,” she says mysteriously. “Uh, no thanks, I’m actually fairly content with my current qualities.” I say politely. Why are we even talking so formally? It’s driving me crazy. “I can predict what will happen if you deny my request.” she says, a bit more firm. My brain goes, ‘Say yes! It’ll save you from a lot of trouble!’ but it also goes, ‘Nope, stranger danger! Don’t listen to creepy insane weirdos!’ “A future seer, are you?” I ask, not necessarily saying yes or no. “Yes, now back to the point.” she demands. “No, you insane creepo.” I want to say, but although she’s rude, it doesn't mean I have to be. “No, thank you. Thanks for the offer, though.” “Say yes, or else.” she growls. I just don’t answer, but I can’t avoid the look she’s giving me for long. “Wow, look at the time, I better get back inside,” I sweat. “No, just one more thing.” insists the girl. I have no choice now, I tried the door and I'm locked out. I run. Down the sidewalk, as fast as I can, like my life depends on it, because it kind of might. “Faye!” yells the girl, as she stops, out of breath. “The end is near.”

I took a screenshot, but I can't figure put how to get it in
