Are the phrases 'caught lackin' and 'caught in 4k' allowed?

They describe when a boy gets caught staring at a girl. It's often used in a sexual way (more so with 4k than lackin) but is also used in an appropriate way frequently. So is it allowed?

If it is used appropriately, then it is okay. The word “suck” is in a similar situation as these words, and it is allowed as long as it is used respectfully to other scratchers and not in an inappropriate way.

You have just said them so I think that answers that question.

I believe so, as long as you are using it in a way that isn’t inappropriate. The phrases are only a bit sexual in some contexts, and are frequently used in a safe-for-Scratch way so I don’t see why not.

The forums have less strict moderation for discussion like this.

They do not. The forums are part of Scratch and therefore have exactly the same rules as the mainsite. The filter may be far more primitive but that doesn't mean that it is 100% correct.

Also, I frequently see moderators do things on the forums that they wouldn’t say on the main site.

Ehhh, careful about that. I think @SaveTheAtlantic is right. The forums are a part of Scratch and therefore adhere to the same Community Guidelines. You wouldn't be allowed to make a thread asking if specific bad words are allowed, for instance.

The post you link does state that the forums tend to have more relaxed moderation, but be aware that that post was made by someone who was a Scratcher at the time. Therefore it should not be considered an official source, and definitely should not be considered as a confirmation that breaking the Community Guidelines in the forums is okay.

On the Scratch Team members: I don't know what specifically you're referring to, but do keep in mind Terms of Use Section 15 which essentially states “If someone breaks the Terms of Use, even if that someone is a Scratch Team member, that does not give anyone permission to break the Terms of Use themselves.”

The best place to ask these sorts of questions without any repercussions would be Contact Us.

However, I think both of these phrases seem somewhat okay, anyway. “Caught in 4K” seems to simply refer to getting caught doing something bad on camera, like I guess if someone was stealing apples or something. I assume “Caught lackin'” would mean the same thing. On your comment about them being used in questionable contexts, I would refer to @musicROCKS013's post for that — certain words and phrases are okay in some contexts, but not in others.

I would say it depends on context.

For example, if someone is “caught in 4k” eating the forbidden cookie, that would be fine. But for kissing or something i won't even MENTION here because it's AMAZINGLY inappropriate, nope.

They are probably allowed because the implications could be anything that is seen as bad: for example, if you found an art project, then reverse image search the art and find it on Google under some other name, you might consider that “caught in 4K”.

Why would you bump this when you got a more-than-sufficient answer from a former Scratch Team member?

He misunderstood what the terms meant and I forgot to tell him.

Fair enough, but he did say that these phrases can be used under many circumstances and contexts, many of which are allowed, and some aren't.

Then what do they mean? I Googled the terms and got something along the lines of what I said from a few different places. I guess the apple does not fall far from the tree with my Internet slang prowess, but that's precisely what would be good for you to explain.

Moreover, if you're concerned about the meaning of these phrases, I think you should ask through Contact Us. If you think they're inappropriate phrases, don't ask about them in the forums.

It's just getting caught doing something bad (no cameras involved). Lacking is just getting caught staring at girls IRL while 4k is either doing something bad or sus (not among us type of sus).

Anyway, I think the question is pretty much answered so imma close this now.
