Tell us about yourself using a story.
“The story that comes to mind would be when I was about seven. I was running down my front steps where I saw that my neighbour hadn't brought their bins back from the curb, so I started wheeling them up the driveway, past all the walls that prevented me from going straight through easily. My mother looked out the window when I was doing such a thing, and she started scolding me as soon as I got inside, enough to make me start crying, though I didn't dare cry in front of her. Instead, I climbed out of my window and snuck down to my friends house, past the neighbour who I helped, who recognised my face in the window and thanked me privately for helping her out. Apparently, her children were sick and she didn't have time to look after anything else while she was caring for them. I remember feeling my face go burning red, a feeling that I'm not used to having, and I shuddered. After saying ‘you’re welcome' and all the delicacies like that, I rushed past the house and began crying a second time. I can't imagine any time my mother cared for me over my siblings, and hearing about such equal treatment I broke.
I kept having to remind myself that I'd helped a nice, caring family, but it was so hard to imagine people breaking down in such a way and having their parents help them and love them. Love was something I missed when I was seven, and I'm so terribly lucky to have it now.”
So, you're grateful for that experience?
“I'm broken, but being broken helps me heal.”
A marvellous phrase! I suppose you were this smart when you were seven?
“I sincerely hope that that is a joke, but I think my time's up.”

This is what a character of mine would say to that question….

Sara’s two-minute thing
“Hey there West Bay losers” chuckles Jade with her best friend Elenora, “Come here to beg for money?” she mocks.
“Let me handle this” whispers Mark to Sara
“Ok we will go now, just let us get what we need to get” states Mark.
“Well, then why are you on borderland?” jeers Elenora
“Because the best carrots are on borderland.” Sara buts in. So much for Mark handling this. Sara just can’t hold her temper anymore. Normally Sara has a good temper but when it comes to Jade and Elenora nobody in West Bay can hold their temper long wile talking to them.
“Why are you on borderland then?” I question.
“I do not respond to a little rat with no manners.” She sneers
Time for the Sara bomb to explode. “Then I’m not going to respond to a snob with no manners, you’re only mean because you were born mean. And that you were born first, Jade, but aren’t getting the inheritance.” Jade goes as red as a tomato.
“Sara, stop” Mark begs.
“No, I’m not stopping, this how they treat us and everyone! Whitebrigitoningsons is filled with hate and false perfection, but West Bay is filled with happiness. Money can’t buy happiness” Sara practically shouts. "You treat everybody like you are better than them and I'm sick of it! You have no respect for your elders. You think you are so good just because you have money and think you are higher than me because of your town winning more wars against us. And even with you family’s money you don’t own the borderland, the borderland is for everyone”
Sara is gasping for breath but continues her rant. “If you feel angry and embarrassed after this conversation, that’s how everybody feels after talking with you.”
Jade and Elenora scuttled back home, embarrassed, and angry. Sara learnt that if something is wrong you must try and change it and, in this case, stick up for yourself.

writing comp entry -> fanfiction category!
The eerie winds played a tune, almost identical to a song she couldn’t quite name. The dim moon lit up the night sky but for a moment— before a burst of rain splashed onto the land. Her lacy boots trudged across the woodland thicket, mud splashing on their white exterior, yet she still managed to brush past the twigs and branches, and came across a tower. Pulling her mask up, she gracefully nudged closer to a starberry bush. The Owl Lady. I’ve found you at last.
***
Her name was Lea, a fairy of the meadows. Newest member of the Emperor’s Coven. A youth who had lost her flight. Her enchanting wings shimmered and created an iridescent glow; tucking them in her jacket, she walked up to the front door, only to be greeted by—
“YAS~ I can check off a small suspicious looking person with a jacket and muddy lacy boots off my checklist!”
Lea looked up in a mix of bewilderment and curiosity. A long, honey yellow creature with peculiar eyes and a beak looked right back at her.
“Um.. hi, I’d like to see the Owl Lady.”
The creature, named Hooty, looked at her in confusion. “What did you sayyyyy?”
Mustering up every single bit of volume she had, Lea spoke again.
“Could I please see the Owl Lady?” her voice was cracking, but it was just loud enough for Hooty to hear.
Hooty grinned. “Eda? But she’ll be mad at me for waking up her beauty sleep!”
Clickity click clack. The sound of footsteps came from the inside of the house. Lea inhaled, then exhaled. Her face turned a rosy pink, as she fiddled with the buttons on her jacket. The door creaked open.
“Hooty, whaddya want? You’re causing a racket. I am not giving you another one of Luz’s burnt and over sweet cookies.”
Lea looked at Eda. She’s not noticing me… Lea had feared this would happen. She was standing in the one corner of the front of the house where little to no light was. After staying hidden for a good five seconds, she decided that Belos was counting on her. Slowly, she scooched over to the tall standing, all powerful Owl Lady. Embarrassedly, she hesitantly tugged on her dress.
“Hm?" Eda looked down, to see Lea, hands over her face, hiding behind her. Crystal clear tears spilled down Lea’s dark cheeks, turning into small sugar cubes. Lea placed one on her tongue, and tasted the swiftly intensifying sweetness of the small little piece while it soothed her tongue. Why do I always mess these things up?
Eda went back into the house, leaving Lea alone. But quickly, she returned with a blanket. “Hey, kid.” Placing Lea’s hand in hers, she escorted Lea into the house. Lea sighed regretfully. The poor lady of the woods. She wouldn’t understand. No one would suspect a delicate fairy. That night, a knife would be at her throat.
***
Cuddling up in a blanket, Lea lay on the cool wood surface.
“Sorry kid, that's all I have.” Eda twiddled her fingers.
Lea faked a smile, out of guilt. “No, it’s amazing. Really, I’m fine,” she said, this time into the wild witch’s ear. She would rather not repeat herself.
“If ya need anything, let me know.” Eda grinned, and started to walk back.
“Wait— you aren’t going to ask for my name?”
Eda didn’t answer. Either because she couldn’t hear Lea, or she chose not to. Maybe there was that little bit of knowing in Eda’ s heart.
I’m sorry, Ms. Edalyn.
After Eda closed the door, Lea waited a few minutes, making sure no one was watching. She had to be very cautious. She rummaged in her pockets, and pulled out a small pocket knife. Then, she found a little glass bottle, containing a poison. If the knife didn’t kill her, the poison would. Made with elderberry extract, it was one of the deadliest things she could be holding. Belos wanted Eda dead, clearly.
Placing the items back in her pocket, she pulled out a small clothespin, and a handkerchief. She clipped the clothespin onto her nose, making sure it was tight. Even a light sniff of the poison could wipe you dead. Imprints on her nose were nothing compared to the inescapable lord of death. Then, she poured exactly two drops of the elderberry poison onto the kerchief. Not one more, nor one less.
Lea carefully tiptoed to the side of Eda’s bed, clutching the knife with her long fingers. She couldn’t wake someone up. She couldn’t risk it. She never could. She came closer to Eda. Her warm breath made Lea want to cozy up and fall asleep. Tears started falling, quickly like a waterfall, and immediately turned into sugar crystals. Lea was exposed.
Goodbye. It has good in it, at least. I hope you can remember me for something good, instead of bad.
Lea dropped the knife and ran off as fast as she could, leaving a trail of crystals, falling and breaking on the floor, shifting into several small shards, sparkling in the dim lit night sky. The sound of the glass-like crystals breaking only deepened the wounds in her heart. The dark night howled as the young girl ran off not bothering to look back at what could have been her promotion. An assassin had yet to be conjured out of the depths of her heart.

(I wrapped it up a bit quickly because I had to go so that's the reason for the rushed ending ahah)
Sierra had just awoken from her half-asleep state when she heard what she thought were whispering voices in the sleeping quarters she shared with the entire rest of her team. She looked around at everybody. They were all sleeping soundly in their beds. The voices must be outside the room, then. It must have been at least midnight, but it was hard to tell when you were floating in outer space. She couldn’t see the clock from her position, and she was curious about the voices, though she knew full well that she could be investigated for being out of bed during a curfew. Then again, there wasn’t normally a curfew anyway, and she just had a feeling that something was up with the voices outside. But, being the RIDGE’s most prized soldier — and student — as well as having a curious personality at heart, she simply couldn’t help getting out of bed to see what was up. She would probably get off for it. She always did.
She swung off the top bunk and landed on the floor as lightly as possible, turning around to look at the students behind her. Laurel was buried under the covers, as always. Sierra smiled and tiptoed around to the door. She could see the clock from here. It was nearly 3 AM. Later than she had thought. Who would have the audacity to be up talking at such an hour? Especially if it was a student; it was smack in the middle of their curfew time. But she supposed she was just as much of a hypocrite, going out to investigate. She was the only one with the key to her room, being the most trusted of the group, so she was the only one who could unlock it from the inside. She did this quietly and cracked open the door just a sliver.
Surprised, she realized that the voices in the hall had been two of her teachers, whispering quietly to each other. She crept closer, not interested in getting caught, though any other day she would have surprised them and they would have greeted her with wide open arms and smiles. There was something fishy about this curfew, but she didn’t want this to be the first time she was caught breaking rules. She cupped a hand around her ear and caught a few words. That moment was the instant she decided to pack her bags and leave the RIDGE. Permanently. No one but her knows what she heard in those moments. Not even you, dear reader. For now.

Part one! A fake crime about George the Unicorn being stolen xDD 826 words
Last night, a shocking development came to light on the case of Myth's missing mascot.
Ayid, the head detective on the case, along with her assistants Peachi, Kitty, Moonlit, and Pi, had been searching for George the Unicorn for days with no leads. However, just last night, Pi discovered Moonlit awake past midnight. While trying to make her sleep, they glimpsed her phone, which showed a message history with none other than Bunni, a Historical Fiction camper and three-time convicted criminal.
Shocked by this betrayal, Pi woke Ayid, who immediately fired Moonlit.
It is thought that the Thriller camper then ran straight to the Historical Fiction cabin, possibly to help the criminals to care for George.
With the new lead of Historical Fiction, Ayid heads to the Faire the next morning to investigate. However, the cabin seems to have been taken over by a band of pirates, and it was impossible to find anyone.
Kitty did report that she spotted several suspicious looking people in the crowd, including a brown-haired girl who looked very similar to Bunni's profile picture in her chat with Moonlit and a girl wearing strangely futuristic clothing, thought to be a Sci-Fi camper.
Peachi and Kitty managed to grab her and bring her in for questioning. After several hours of interrogation, she let slip that her name was Lyn and that she was in fact a camper of Sci-Fi. Even more shocking, however, was her reveal that she had played a role in the kidnapping of George the Unicorn.
No matter what, she refused to give up the kidnapper's true identity.
The next morning, Moonlit was spotted again attempting to steal papers from the Myth Detective Agency. Ayid apprehended her for questioning.
Moonlit, not expecting the detectives to spring on her, gave in easily. She revealed that George the Unicorn was being kept by Script, one of Myth's enemies!
However, with her inside knowledge of the Agency, Moonlit managed to escape through the walls before convinced to say exactly who the criminal was.
Armed with information from Moonlit, Ayid and her crew headed down to Script.
As they entered the main area of the cabin, the detectives were faced with yet another swarm of campers, who may have been waiting (ten hours in advance?) for the daily to be released on the message board.
In the crowd, it was hard for Ayid to see anything. However, one person stood tall among the group—Lio Emerson, leader of Script.
Despite Lio's high status as cabin leader, they were not immune to Myth's questions.
Ayid, Kitty, Peachi, and Pi managed to back Lio into a corner of Script's common space and get them to answer a few questions. A transcript of their interview, originally recorded by Pi, can be seen below:
LIO: What are you all doing here?
AYID: You know what we're doing, Emerson.
LIO: Seriously, I don't!
AYID: UmMmMmM I think you do.
KITTY: YOU KIDNAPPED GEORGE THE UNICORN!
LIO: What?? What's a ‘George the Unicorn.’
PI: *rolling eyes* Only the best mascot ever…
LIO: What are you talking about? I would never kidnap a mascot; where would I even keep one?
AYID: *pulls up a screenshot of her computer. The image shows a conversation between Moss and Lio, in which Lio admits that Script can easily shift itself into any form it wants, specifically mentioning a garden.*
PEACHI: How's that for evidence, Emerson?!
LIO: Evidence? That's just me mentioning my cabin' capabilities! (which are amazing by the way!)
AYID: Why else would you be thinking about a garden in that moment if you hadn't JUST FINISHED MAKING ONE TO STORE OUR POOR MASCOT IN???
LIO: I…
PI: Lost for words, I see… Perhaps that's because YOU'RE LYING!!!
LIO: Why would I lie? In fact, why would I even kidnap a mascot?! You're supposed to be such great detectives; why haven't you asked me about my motive?
KITTY: Uhhh because that's the next question on the list and we haven't gotten to it yet…
LIO: What list?
AYID: The list I've got right here! *Pulls out random tiny scrap of paper*
LIO: *laughing* Ayid. That's wayyy too small to be any kind of list. Anyway, I wouldn't be so stupid as to reveal my thievery that easily—oops…
AYID: AHA! We've got you now, Lio!!
LIO: Waittt no you can't prove that I said that!
PI: *triumphantly pulls out recording device*
LIO: OKAY OKAY I'll show you where I kept the unicorn!
AYID: So you DO admit it!
LIO: …yeah I admitted it already. Just follow me, okay?
***
Lio led the quartet to a corner of House Emerson, where George the Unicorn is quietly munching on three blades of grass.
At the sight of Ayid, George ran towards the detectives, screaming with all three mouths and crashing right through into Ayid's arms.
Turning from Script, the detectives graciously let Lio and his accomplices go free, trusting that they wouldn't kidnap another mascot.
Part two! Cabin reviews :DD 808 words
Note: Please don't take any offense from these—all of the cabins are amazing, the ratings and reviews are solely based on Myth's relationship with each cabin. (1=enemies/hostile neutrals, 2=hostile neutrals, 3=neutrals, 4=friendly neutrals/allies, 5=siblings)
Sci-Fi Hacking Ring
Sci-Fi, unfortunately, did not live up to expectations. There were a lot of campers aggressively typing at their keyboards, writing both stories and lines of code. Strangely, only one of the crew noticed when I walked in, and, sadly for me, that person was their leader, Alyelle. Not very pleased about the Myth trespasser, Alyelle decided to deposit me into their vortex. Why do they need a vortex to hack? No idea! Fortunately, I was able to escape in time, and I'll tell you right now, I won't be returning to the Hacking Ring.
Rating: 1/5
Thriller Rift
Wow. Visiting the Thriller Rift was quite an experience. It wasn't the most welcoming of places—an infinite void of blackness is never very fun—but the people were great! Everyone in the cabin seemed very enthusiastic and happy to see me, though some of the leaders were talking in a strange upside-down manner, which was quite difficult to understand. Overall, though, visiting the Rift was a lot of fun! It made me want to sleep more so that I could dream of visiting.
Rating: 4/5
Myth Maze
This place was a-maze-ing! The second I walked in, I was swarmed with eager campers, who struck a perfect balance between intensely writing, being friendly, and taking care of themselves. They were very active and seemed extraordinarily dedicated to their goal of saving the multiverse. (Who can blame them? It's a pretty important thing to do!) Despite being divided into three groups, the campers seemed to work well together, and they loved yelling encouragements at the other cohorts. I'd definitely recommend visiting Myth Maze—if you're wondering why they're in first, one glimpse of their great attitudes will show you!
Rating: 5/5
Fan-Fi Republic
Despite their unappealing name, the Fan-Fi Republic was great!! Their leader looked so excited to be there, and despite their position in the middle of the rankings, everything seemed to be running very smoothly. As I arrived, I was immediately pulled into their interesting storyline, which I'd definitely say was the highlight of the Republic!

Adventure Parks
As I walked into the park, I was immediately interested by the excitement of the campers' geocaching quests! Being a geocacher myself, I found it really cool to see a whole cabin devoted to the topic—especially one as fun and active as this one. Despite all the fun that was going on, however, the campers didn't feel the need to include me at all—even when I specifically asked what they were up to, I got no response—and the park was rainy and filled with mud. Overall, the cabin was a bit disappointing.

I had never really liked this genre, and the Script cabin didn't make me appreciate it any more. Everyone there seemed to be in the middle of a massive familial argument, and paid absolutely no attention to me, even when I waved my weekly notes in their faces. Though the cabin was supposed to transform into whatever I wanted it to, I couldn't get it to work.

Advice from a Cool Elder
What should I do to drink more water more often (like seriously i think i have problems with dehydration from not drinking enough because i just forget to drink water)
-@yishujia
Hey, Lia!!
First of all, remind yourself of how important water is. Literally everything in your body depends on it—according to the CDC, it helps regulate your temperature, cushion your joints, and protect your tissues, among many other things. Since it's summer, a lot of your time is probably spent at home, so if you can get a water cup out in the morning and move it around with you during the day, it'll be harder to forget about. Also, make sure to keep a cup near your bed.
If this isn't helping, try adding “DRINK WATERR” to a daily checklist, or writing it on a sticky note to put somewhere you pass by often. I've also seen some big water bottles with drinking schedules attached–there are marks along the side of the bottle showing what you should drink by various times of the day.
Hopefully this helps out!

Why is literally everyone obsessed with mangos? And how can I grow to like them?
@–Shine–
That is a very good question… I believe it is some sort of inside joke that neither of us are completely aware of. Luckily, it's okay to pretend to know what it means and join in the mango-screaming crowds of SWC-ers!
As for how you can grow to like them, you don't necessarily need to. Everyone has their own preferences, and you shouldn't force yourself to eat a food you don't like just because this chaotic online writing camp loves yelling about it. If you're truly interested in learning to like them, however, try to start by eating small bits, then eat more and more.
I want to get rid of procrastination and start the weekly, what should I do?
-@Avacac12078
Just do it. Seriously. The sooner you start, the sooner you'll finish. Even if you just write 50 words now, or do some brainstorming, that's one step closer to being done.
If you'd like a longer term plan than this, try dividing up the weekly! It's already helpfully split into parts, so maybe try completing one part per day for the next couple days. This is easier than you might think xD
There's a wonderful thing called “A Crawl For The Motivationally Challenged” that can be found at this link: https://www.wikiwrimo.org/wiki/Word_crawl/A_Crawl_for_the_motivationally_challenged It helps you to break your writing into even smaller chunks, making it even easier to write!
In a similar vein, the Pomodoro technique is a very helpful motivational tactic. It basically tells you to work on the task at hand for twenty-five minute, then take a five minute break. I find it really helpful to keep me from procrastinating!
Part four! Horoscopes :DD 307 words
Aries: It looks like you have an impressive amount of motivation stored up today, Arie! Try using it to get the weekly done!
Taurus: Try some meditation today while focusing on your story, Taurus! You might get very inspired.
Gemini: Have you searched online for writing prompts lately, Gemini? Try finding a group and completing one together!
Cancer: Take a look at the world around you, Cancer. Something that will happen in your life today would make a great story, if only you take notice of it.
Leo: To gather a lot of words, try writing about yourself! I'm sure there's a lot that you can praise! ;)
Virgo: Do you have a story that you've been waiting to write, Virgo? Now's the time to start planning it out! Start on an outline today.
Libra: Are you feeling unmotivated, Libra? Perhaps your cabin has some campers interested in helping out—it doesn't hurt to ask!
Scorpio: I know writing can feel unexciting sometimes, Scorpio, but maybe you just need to try some new methods! Try out a word crawl, or even just a word war, to speed it up!
Sagittarius: Are you getting tired of writing similar stories day after day, Sagittarius? Today, try something new, whether it be an unfamiliar genre, a new setting, or just an different writing style.
Capricorn: Switching between all these different stories for dailies and weeklies can be tiring, Capricorn! Maybe you should start up a longer story for some dependability.
Aquarius: You're doing great, Aquarius, but you might just need a little extra motivation! Try reaching out to someone new to ask for writing tips!
Pisces: Have you been getting attached to dailies, even if they aren't working out well, and writing much more than you need to? Maybe practice letting go of those ideas before you take them too far.

Everyone in the cabin seemed very enthusiastic and happy to see me, though some of the leaders were talking in a strange upside-down manner, which was quite difficult to understand. Overall, though, visiting the Rift was a lot of fun! It made me want to sleep more so that I could dream of visiting.

July 2022 SWC Writing Megathread
(This is a joke, and largely incoherent.)
Dear MoonlitSeas,
Today, one of your campers brought a food truck to the plaza facing the Main Cabin, hosting a giveaway for “a free pass to continually get warred by fairy tales during the next cabin wars :>”. Now, this member of your corporation the “Thriller Rift” is, to my knowledge, a severely underpaid employee who is frequently subject to beatings via the Birdi Boom-Boom Broom Smacker Styled Specifically For Setting Sleep-deprived SWCers Straight! (BBBBSSSFSSSS). I understand that outing them like this would potentially jeopardize their position within your company, and because I care for the workers of America, I will be keeping this person anonymous, in hopes that you will not let them go, and continue to at least give them a living wage. We shall call this camper “banana”. I asked for the free pass, and “banana” obliged, with the correction that the continuous wars would be from your “Thriller Rift”, and not from your competitor “the fairy-tale trails”. They then (very politely, I might add) asked if I would like one or two scoops of wars. I was incredibly impressed by this question, as normally when I visit other ice cream stands they will normally only offer one. In the case of the “Thriller Rift” itself, this track record is even worse. During the last Cabin Wars they asked for us to pay double the scoops for what was going to intentionally be no wars, and it was only by accident that we even received one scoop (I am, by the way, still waiting on the second). “Banana” was also highly communicative and friendly when I asked for cone options — I personally am usually very fast in eating ice cream, but sometimes my pace slows down considerably, and the dessert tends to drip down the cone. They even offered me an “anti-termite dipped cone”, showing their specificity and care for customers — at no other parlor or ice cream corporation have I ever received accommodation for being a chair. This, to me, is proper conduct. I paid them the fee with a sizable tip, and they cordially gave me an order number, and went right to work creating my ice cream.
I was very displeased to, halfway through the process, suddenly hear you, MoonlitSeas, begin to berate “banana” for wanting to have a hand in dessert creation. During the last session of cabin wars, you yourself warred others 22 times. There were only 99 wars total! And several hundred employees in the entire conglomerate under SWC! You were not 2/9 of the population, but you did wage 2/9 of the wars, and nearly 85% of the wars in your cabin! This is an example of unfair wage distribution. You, specifically, surely understand the dopamine rush that comes with warring another cabin, even when it is with the permission of your overlord. Yet, instead of letting your countless employees partake in the festivities, you and your superior Bellevue91 snagged all but one of the wars your cabin waged. And that war was by accident. What sort of fair treatment is it to your workers that you force all of them to write for you every day, complete activities, wage smaller-scale wars against other corporations, have them battle on the front-lines alongside you, only to not let them reap in the rewards? Do you not comprehend the unfair system which you are actively upholding and indulging in? I thought you would hold yourself to a higher moral standard than this. And now, you punish your employee for attempting to do their work, and reap their share of the reward. There was nothing wrong with the transaction they made.
But even more egregious than this is the blatant discrimination you hold against my cabin. We are not your competitors! During cabin wars, we only war people who ask us to war them — that sounds to me like politeness, like charity. We do not seek to encroach on your right to war others, however disproportionately various rungs of the corporate ladder partake in the activity. And yet, you shut down your employee, whose polite and proper conduct indicates they were highly trained and skilled in this matter, and give me the equivalent of “sorry, we won’t serve your cabin?” You saw my PFP for Mythology, and decided, “No, I don’t like the look of that, sorry, we won’t serve you?” What is this, other than discrimination? If our number on the leaderboard was smaller, would you be obliged to serve me? Is there something inherently wrong with the number we have, or the PFP I choose to adorn? Is it something about the amphisbaena perched on my shoulders? Tell me, MoonlitSeas, what non-arbitrary justification can you give for refusing to give me what I was promised? This is the worst thing to have happened since Nick Wilde was refused his pawpsicle from the non-FDA approved elephant ice cream shop (ignoring the next hour of the film, that is). You even told your employee they could “WAR LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE AS MUCH AS YOU’D LIKE, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SCRIPT AND POSSIBLY FAN-FI
.” I understand that Script and Fan-fiction are your corporate enemies. You would not want to reveal your secret recipes to them by giving them your valuable wars. But, we, Mythology, are at the top of your allies list! How could you accept our warm, freshly-baked cookies, then betray and discriminate against us at your stores? And that’s the nicer interpretation. As a chair, I have faced discrimination and oppression by beings of all sorts — tables. People who sit on me and dirty me. People who mock me for having No-brainsitis. This was my very first positive experience as a chair by a well-thought, well-spoken worker. Only to have their higher-up, who clearly does not support worker’s rights, and most likely does not advocate for chairs’ rights, forcibly refuse them service. This says a lot about society, MoonlitSeas.
When I stated that this was “a prime example of oppression by managers in corporate america,” (not even beginning to scratch the surface on the grievances I have briefly outlined above) you, MoonlitSeas, did not even try to deny your blatant wrongdoings. Instead, you replied, “ah but this is (cabin) war(s) we’re talking about <3.” It’s quite bold that my second-favorite moon-related leader would dare to put a “<3” at the end of what is essentially a non-excuse for a crime. War does not justify your corporatism. In fact, it only exposes the worst elements of it. War is a profiteering machine, it is highly beneficial to a corporation like yours. In his 1933 speech “War is a Racket”, Major General Smedley Butler acknowledges this, points it out to the world: “WHO provides the profits —these nice little profits of 20, 100, 300, 1,500, and 1,800 per cent? We all pay them—in taxation…But the soldier pays the biggest part of the bill.” War is your racket. And just because you acknowledge it does not make the situation any better. You get all the dopamine from the wars, while they have to toil alongside you every step of the way. They submit to your every whim, and what do they get? They get bossed around by their leaders, breathing down their neck every step of the way, ensuring nothing goes wrong. Nothing. Can be out of place.
I understand that as a corporation, you’re feeling the sting of the Fed, trying to hike interest rates again in July, just a month after they did it last. Planning to hike it by a full percentage point. I get it. It’s hard. Inflation is hard on such a conglomerate as yourself. But believe me, the people are feeling it just as much as the managers. Cabin Wars has a trade-off of better taxation policies and more protections by our overlords to ensure your monopoly (which you so well maintained) can stay intact, but if you gain something, somebody else is losing. Somebody else is giving behind the scenes. As a corporation, your first obligation is to your customers. When you go and pitch to investors, trying to receive a budget, the most effective way of outlining where you will be is by using a bottoms-up potential approach. You gain your words mostly via asking others for cabin wars, and then asking your employees to write for them. You have around 30 employees total, let’s say 40% of them show up for all the wars (averaging out over time). You’ll receive around eight cabin wars per, so 16 total. Each person will write around 375 words per war (presuming they show up to all wars, so again, this is an average), with an 100% take-rate from your partners. You profit by 12 people * 16 wars/session * 375 AOV = 72,000 words * 100% take rate = 72,000 words in two days time. However, most of those wars rely on taking orders from other cabins to war them, so that they will war you in return. As you choose to discriminate against certain cabins, your business model has failed, receiving only six wars, compared to the seven of Science Fiction and Historical Fiction and the eight of Horror, Myth, and Script. Two of the cabins you discriminate against. Furthermore, if you’re constantly berating your employees, not allowing them to take a share in the dopamine of waging 26 wars (and clearly, you, MoonlitSeas, should read up on the law of diminishing returns), the only leverage you will have over them is force. The broom, and the sentiment that one day, they’ll have a greater reward. Their long-term reward is winning. That’s like not paying your workers until you lay them off, and then saying “I know we’re letting you go, but we were nice enough to give you a severance package!” Your potential would shrink, and then you would have to take a top-down approach in order to appeal to investors, which we all know is yucky. Obviously, as a person in upper management, worker happiness does not affect you unless it impacts your efficacy and reach as a company. But it will, trust me. “Banana” can attest to this. I paid for my two scoops. I have my ordering number (531). You have failed in your obligation to working environment standards and in your obligation to your customers. I was looking forward to buying more scoops from “banana’s” delightful little stand, MoonlitSeas. Instead, I will be declaring my formal support for The Victims of Moonlit(Seas) Association.
Ever cordially,
The Nights Fall
P.S. I am expecting my two scoops of cabin wars with a mango-dipped cone.

Junimo Restaurant Review!
On Scratch, there is an incredibly fun game by @bigfootbunni called Junimo Restaurant Tycoon! You should go check it out, I loved it! Anyway, It's a game about managing your own restaurant. I thought I would write a review of the restaurant as if I was a customer.
Apple's Review - 3 stars
My name is Apple, and I'm a forest junimo! I saw that there was a new restaurant being opened recently, and I just couldn't wait to check it out!
When my friends Mayli (a sand junimo), Splashie (a water junimo), Volcano (a lava junimo) and I arrived, we loved the look of the place. It was so classy! There was incredibly fancy decor everywhere, and the rooms were super stylish. A kind waiter led us to our tables straight away. I was delighted to find that we all had tables suited to our preferences, such as log tables and seashell tables. There was beautiful hanging beads on the walls of our room, as well as large windows. I also discovered that there was a rather large variety of dishes. The waiters came to take our orders immediately, and so far, I was extremely impressed.
But then came the wait.
I didn't understand why, but the chefs took way too long to cook all of our food. I only ordered the wild horseradish salad, which was the cheapest and easiest item to make on the menu. I had made it myself a couple of times at my house, and it only took 5-10 minutes. SO WHY DID IT TAKE ABOUT 30 MINUTES?! Ah well. At least I felt better when the manager came and gave us each a present! Thank you!
When our food finally arrived, I suddenly understood why the chefs had taken so long. The salad was possibly the best one I'd ever tasted! It was so simple, but yet packed with strong flavour and delicious hints of spice, bitterness and sweetness in every single bite! Mayli said her maki rolls were incredibly delicious and even asked the chefs if she could have the recipe. Volcano ordered the cave carrot roast, and he felt the exact same way. I even tried his cave carrot roast, and it was out of this world. Although Splashie said that her crab cakes weren't the best, and that she'd made better ones that took less time. Hmm…
Strangely, we seemed to be the only ones enjoying our meal! A sand junimo next to me walked out in a huff because her food was completely burnt and absolutely inedible, and as we left, I saw a lava junimo arguing with the waiters and the chefs because they had completely messed up his order! The chef quality at this place seemed to vary a lot.
Overall, I quite enjoyed it. I wasn't a fan of the long wait, but I loved the food, the rooms, and the present the manager gave me! I would recommend this.

Selui sat down heavily in one of the brown chairs in her kitchen, pulling out a small, pocket-sized red book from the round pocket in her blue apron. She had just finished setting the table for lunch, but since she usually liked to keep a regular schedule for her mealtimes, she was waiting a few more minutes before eating, which was why she had grabbed her book. Plus, she never - or at least almost never - expected guests, and today was no exception. However, people had a tendency to pop in on random days to say hi and stay for lunch, and keeping a regular schedule helped them know when to arrive. Additionally, it helped Selui remember to eat every meal and to keep her schedule even. Without it, she would probably forget to eat almost every day, or she would eat at incredibly weird hours. She checked her watch. It was time to start. As if right on cue, a knock sounded at the door.
“Hello?” called a voice. “Selui, are you in there?”
“Hello!” Selui replied, “Yes, you come can right inside!”
The person walked through the door. It was Xy! Selui liked it when anyone visited her, since she often got very lonely, and everyone who ever visited her was incredibly nice, but she always liked it best when Xy came, for a few reasons. First of all, Xy was one of the only people she knew who had magical powers like her, excluding Belinda, who was incredibly evil. Plus, Xy always brought her favorite candy. Apparently it was very commonly sold among the humans, but Selui never ventured into that part of the world these days, so she would not know. She bit into the sugary candy, savoring each bite.
“Delicious!” she cried. “You I thank, Xy!”
And with that, she set a spot for Xy at the table and they both sat down to eat.

Breaking news, citizens! As you all surely know, our city has always been nearly entirely crime free, to the point where many of our citizens can not even imagine a crime of any sort being committed so close to home. And yet, as impossible as it seems, a crime was committed in our very own city just the other day. There is, evidently a thief on the loose. And the thief, it seems, has an odd preference for fruits made of precious metals.
Manny Go, collector of any and all form of mango memorabilia, was devastated to discover that his precious, 12 inch, 24 carrot gold mango sculpture was stolen. Our top reporters rushed to the case, and so we bring you the news, including currently exclusive interviews with the police, investigators and Manny Go himself.
The golden mango was stolen from Manny Go’s House of Mangos and Mango Memorabilia this Thursday at roughly 11pm EST.
“I was in the back, dusting off some memorabilia,” Mr. Go tells us. “Can’t have anything getting too dusty, you know? Especially with the new exhibit scheduled to open next week. It’s going to be the biggest exhibition this place has ever seen; or, at least, it was supposed to be. The 24 carrot gold mango was going to be the main attraction. Without it, I just don’t know if this is going to work.”
Mr. Go was understandably devastated, and was unable to give further comment on the matter, muttering something about trying to replace such a one of a kind object with a trio of silver mangos.
Our reporters than turned to the scene of the crime itself. By this point, the police had long since blocked off the area with tape, as they and investigators bustled about. That wasn’t going to stop our team of reporters though, they will, of course, do anything to bring you the scoop.
When asked how they were coming with the case, Officer Po Lease replied, “We’re coming. There admittedly hasn’t been that much in the way of clues, but no need to fear. We have our best men-“
“And women. And others,” Officer Polly Mann interjected.
“Yes, yes-“ Officer Po Lease continued. “What I’m saying is, we have our best team on the job, and we will get to the bottom of this, you have my word. We’re already working on collecting a list of suspects.”
We then asked Officer Po Lease if he would mind disclosing the suspects to the paper:
“As much as I would love to do that,” he told us. “Unfortunately that information must remain off limit to the public. For one thing, we can’t have the culprit knowing we’re after them, but also for privacy reasons.”
Our team of reporters obviously respects this. Despite that, you can bet that we’ll be working our hardest to bring a suspect list to you. Hopefully we’ll be able to bring it to you in the next issue.
“We don’t need any form of public unrest,” Officer Polly Mann tells as later, after being asked if there is a cause to worry. “It’s believed that this particular thief is after very specific objects. So unless you happen to have giant mango made of priceless metals laying around in your home-” she laughed. “-Then I would say your belongings are most likely safe.”
“Even so,” Officer Po Lease adds. “We do advice citizens practicing a certain amount of caution, just to remain on the safe side. We don’t need any more robberies, now do we?
“As of now, we have no reason to believe the thief is armed,” Officer Po Lease continues. “However, we also don’t have proof that they’re not. So just play it safe for now, okay? But rest assured that we have our most capable team on the case and we will get to the bottom of this, have that pesky thief locked up, and have the 12 carrot golden mango returned to Manny Go’s House of Mangos and Mango Memorabilia. Our city has never been crime infested before, and its not about to become so, not on my watch at any rate. So stay calm.”
The officers then insisted they needed to return to work, thus ending the interview.
It can be assumed that the police will get to the bottom of this case in time. The question remains, however, will the 12 inch 24 carrot gold mango be returned to Manny Go’s House of Mangos and Mango Memorabilia in the end? Only time will tell folks, only time will tell. But you can bet that the second any news is available on the subject, our team of reporters will bring you the latest scoop first. For now, just stay safe, use your brain, and hope that precious mango will be returned home.

Hello and welcome everybody! Today I will be reviewing the Keeper of The Lost Cities book series, written by Shannon Messenger.
Many have noticed that this series has been gaining popularity over the last few years, and with each page packed with strong characters, witty banter and an exciting plot, it’s not hard to see why.
There are currently nine books, 1-8.5, with 8.5 having a novella in the back told from two alternating points of view, and a guide to the series and characters in the front. Book nine, Stellarlune, is scheduled to be released November 8th of this year, followed by book ten the following year. Book ten has been confirmed to be the last book of the series.
The story revolves around a girl by the name of Sophie Foster, who is twelve at the time of the first book, and is fifteen by book eight. Sophie has always been different, and it’s not just because she’s a pre-teen attending high school. Sophie has a secret.
She can read minds.
It’s not until a class trip to the science museum, where she meets a boy named Fitz Vacker, that she discovers why. Fitz insists that they’re both elves, and as hard as it is to believe, it’s not long before she finds herself questioning everything she’s ever known and been told about her world.
It soon becomes apparent that Sophie has more secrets than just one, some buried so deep in her mind that she herself doesn’t even remember them. But there are people out there who will do anything to get ahold of them.
And I mean anything.
And thus Sophie and her new found friends are flung into an adventure they never asked for. One full of secrets, lies and even betrayal.
With the entire elven world changing in ways they were never ready for, and many of its inhabitants blaming Sophie herself, it’s never easy. With it becoming increasingly clear that everyone has their own plans and motivations, in the end, one question remains: who can she trust?
From the second I opened the first book and started reading the preface, I was hooked. It has a way of grabbing you from the very beginning, making you wonder, just what is going on?
For me, strong characters are equally as important, if not almost more important, than plot. I was happy to see that in that department, Keeper of The Lost Cities definitely delivers. There is a wide cast of characters, each with a clear, individual voice that will surely become iconic. Witty banter between the characters prevails, bringing humor to the more serious scenes.
There is also a nice balance between exciting, edge of your seat scenes and humorous moments, mixed with a dash of mystery.
As I said, the cast is wonderful. My favorite character is easily Keefe Sencen, in the beginning because he’s just so hilarious, but as the series goes on because he’s got a complex character and I just-
No. This is a book review. Not a rant about the extreme awesomeness that is Keefe Sencen.
Anyway.
Sophie Foster herself is honestly a really great character in my opinion. To me, she is relatable in many ways and it’s great to see her grow as a person as the series goes on. She has definitely grown a lot since the first book. Coming from someone who started reading the books a few years ago, that was really cool to see.
I would start listing least favorite characters, but I think it would probably be kind of hard to do without getting into spoilers, yes? So on with the review.
The books grow longer and, with that, get a more complex, exciting plot as the series progresses. That’s not to say the first books are boring, however; far from it. I myself was hooked from the very first sentence, no joke.
I like how every book starts with an engaging preface that grabs your attention, and makes you want to know more, but that won’t fully make sense until later in the book. When it finally does, it’s just like this “aha!” moment. I had to go back and reread the preface every time when I got to that part, just to see what I missed, but that’s just me.
The age rating on the books are 8-12, I believe. I personally would rate them at least 11-12+, but to each their own. Either way, it’s an enjoyable book for all ages! I know a lot of older teenagers (including myself) and even an adult who enjoyed it, so don’t be afraid to check it out just because of the age rating!
All in all, it’s a really great, enjoyable series, and I definitely recommend it.

Advice With Auntie Ash
“How do I make my writing more descriptive?”
~Magnolia012
When you mention an object, try asking yourself “But what is this?” For instance, say there’s a pillow. But what kind of pillow? What color is it? Is it a solid color, or does it have a design? What shape is it? Is it soft or hard? Make sure you can really picture the pillow in your head, then incorporating some of the adjectives you came up with into your writing. Be careful, though; being over descriptive is easy to do as well. Only describe what’s relevant, or needed to set the scene.
When describing a location, ask yourself, what’s there? Who’s there? What does the air feel like? How does it smell? What sounds are there? Then work some of these things into your writing.
I hope this helps, and happy writing!
“What should I do to overcome phobias?”
~MysticScratcher101
The usual answer is to slowly start trying to introduce yourself to the object of your phobia. For instance, say you have a fear of swimming. You could start by trying to get yourself comfortable with wading into the water, but by bit. Never rush yourself to do too much at once though! I understand the hurry, but this can actually make the phobia worse. Respect your limits.
Try asking yourself, why am I afraid of this? Is it from a past experience? Something seemingly irrational? No particular reason? Acknowledging the reason for a fear can help you overcome it.
Lastly, remember that there’s no shame in having a phobia. Everyone has fears, and that’s okay.
I hope this helps!
“Is it okay for children to read heavy gore?”
~Dark-Ehko
I feel like there’s no hard and fast answer to this. For one thing, it ultimately depends on the child. Everyone has their own limits and people shouldn’t have to read things that make them uncomfortable regardless of age. Some children may be ready for it, while others will not, and that’s okay.
Personally, I don’t think young children should be exposed to gore of any kind too early on. For most it’s going to be rather disturbing and/or frightening. Not only does it have the potential to cause serious nightmares, exposing someone to certain things before they’re ready can really mess with them.
It’s rather subjective so I can’t really give a concrete answer. Just that again, I, personally, am not a fan of the idea of children reading heavy gore. I’d advice being careful about what’s presented to them.
“What do I do if I said that I would do something ‘when pigs fly’ and then scientists genetically engineered a pig that could fly???”
~Peach_Drawing
In the highly unlikely event that this happened, the simplest thing to do would probably be to just do the thing. You said you would do it when pigs fly; now pigs are flying, so you’re obligated to do it.
But if it’s something you really don’t want to do, or are incapable of doing, you can try to find a work around. If anyone remembers you saying this, you can claim that you meant if pigs fly under a specific circumstance which this pig simply doesn’t meet. This excuse may not be accepted, but hopefully it will.
It may be best just to all around avoid making this vow; that way, if such a pig is ever brought into existence, there won’t be any problems.

Horoscopes
Aries
You, Aries, have a quick temper indeed. That’s not always a bad thing, however; it means that you are always willing to stand up for yourself and others. But sometimes, this quick temper may cause you to get angry when there’s no need. During the next few days, it is important that you step back and look at a situation, before reacting harshly.
Taurus
You, Taurus, are famously stubborn. At times that can be a good thing, because you will never back down when it comes to what you believe in. But now it is more important than ever that you learn to accept that other people are entitled to their opinions, not just you.
Gemini
As a Gemini, you’ve always found it difficult to control your continuous mood swings. This is famously frustrating for those around you, but likely equally frustrating for yourself. During the next few days, you will be able to enjoy a much needed period of stability. Relax and enjoy it.
Cancer
Despite what others may think, you are not a crybaby, Cancer. Rather, you just feel emotions so strongly that they can easily become overwhelming. In the following days, it will be important for you to remember that it’s okay to step away from a situation and give your emotions a break before you crack.
Leo
Despite seeming self centered at times, you’re actually pretty insecure. It is important for you to learn other ways to validate yourself rather than allowing your need for attention to drown out the needs of others. A some point in the following days, reach out to a loved one and offer them your ear. You’re not the only one hurting, Leo.
Virgo
Your level headedness is an admirable trait, but it’s important that you don’t let yourself lose touch with your emotions. Your attention for details can easily lead to perfectionism, and in the coming days it will be important for you to remember not to stress out over the insignificant. Even if things are imperfect, they can still work out fine.
Libra
It’s no secret that you strive for a balance, much like the scale the represents your sign. You, Libra, are charismatic and this will be to your benefit when searching for a balance. However, in the following days you’ll find it important to remember not to stress out if things can’t be exactly even. It’s still going to be okay.
Scorpio
As a water sign, you feel things very deeply. But unlike your kin, Pisces and Cancer, you don’t always wear your heart on your sleeve. Locking your emotions in side for so long will take it’s toll on you if you’re not careful. As hard as it may be, take some time during the next few days to talk to someone you trust. You don’t have to tell them everything; but it’s important you let someone into your heart, Scorpio.
Sagittarius
When it comes to your heart, you are a free spirit, Sagittarius. However, you often let your head, with it’s never ending thinking, get in the way of your stronger emotions. During the next few days, you’ll find that becoming increasingly frustrating for those you care about. Now is your time to reflect on it and let your heart take control. It knows the way.
Capricorn
In the coming days, there will be many things you have to do. Try not to stress about it; they will get done in time. You have a strong work ethic, and while that’s admirable, now is your time to take some time off and enjoy yourself.
Aquarius
You may feel like you have a hard time showing them, but you have strong emotions, Aquarius. Despite what your head tells you, it’s okay if you can’t stay collected at all times. At some point during the next few days, take the opportunity to reach out to a friend and let some of the weight off your chest.
Pisces
You, Pisces, are a natural caregiver. It’s not unusual for your big heart to cause you to take on the problems of everyone else. This intense selflessness is admirable, but adding too much stress from others onto your already complex emotions could cause you to break. In the following days, remember that it is okay to take care of yourself, too. Now is your time to find yourself a nondestructive stress reliever.

I took a deep breath, hands on the railing of my balcony. This was it. If I did this, there was no going back. If I walked away, I’d never be able to live here again.
But was I really living here now? Was quietly staying close to the walls to avoid attention -and, thus, insults- living? Having to go through each day being told how worthless I am for something I can’t control? Never being sure if I’d have a descent meal? Being nothing but miserable? Was any of that really living? Because it didn’t feel like it.
There had to be an actual life out there, somewhere. Didn’t there? It was hard to imagine ever being happy, but if I ever could be, it wouldn’t be here.
So, it was decided. I only had one choice. I took another deep breath and vaulted over the balcony railing. I turned into a falcon once I was clear of the roof, and for a few exhilarating seconds I was free falling.
Then I was standing in the grass, human again. I turned to look back at the imposing building that was Miles Manor; the place that should have been my home but had provided nothing but pure misery for twelve long years.
I was never going to have to go through that again.
I had no idea where I was going, or how I’d manage, but I was free.
I turned my back on the place and started walking. I never looked back.
The whole thing, as crazy as it seems, probably only lasted about two and a half minutes, but my life changed that night, and it changed for the better. I didn’t find my place in the world for many years yet, but I was finally on my way.

Day #16

“I don’t really like talking about this,” Lizzie whispered, pressing herself into the couch cushions.
“Just take a deep breath and try to relax,” the Councillor flashed her a white smile, her pearl earrings and glasses lenses glinting in the light. Her sharp eyes went up and down Lizzie, noticing every nervous spasm in her hands.
Lizzie sucked in a breath. Then blew as hard as she could.
“Good girl,” the Councillor beamed, “Now let the memory float into your mind. No pain, no names, just the pictures. Relax,”
Lizzie glanced at her watch. Only two minutes and thirty seconds until she could leave.
She closed her eyes, and let the memory float to the surface of her mind.
“It was almost raining,” she whispered.
“Almost?” the Councillor raised a well-manicured eyebrow.
“Sort of… drizzly. Wet. Windy and grey but not actually raining,” Lizzie shuddered, “Like the calm before a storm,”
The Councillor made a note on her clipboard, “Go on,”
“I-” she choked, “Skye was there. She was getting on the- the ship,” she shook her head, “She told me that she would be back before I knew it. She-” Lizzie felt a surge of frustration when she discovered tears leaking from her eyes. She swiped at them, and checked her watch. Two more minutes.
“She lied,” Lizzie gasped, “She never came back,”
“And then?” the Councillor made another note.
“Ad then- and then,” Lizzie swallowed. One minute and thirty seconds left, “I really don’t want to talk about this,”
“Then don’t describe it to me,” the Councillor pushed her glasses up her nose, “Just tell me how you felt.”
“Scared,” said Lizzie, “Angry. Worried. I… well I-” she shook her head, hunching her shoulders in to make herself as small as possible.
“You what?” the Councillor said softly, gently.
“I had a feeling that… I think I knew that was the last time I would ever see my sister.”
The councillor made another note, “Hindsight is very powerful Lizzie-”
“It wasn’t hindsight,” she interrupted, “I knew.”
The councillor looked sceptical. Lizzie sighed. “You wouldn’t understand,”
Less than a minute left.
“She was just gone so fast,” Lizzie whispered, “One second we were on the dock and she was hugging me. Then she was on the ship and she sailed away forever.” she rubbed her eyes, “She barely even had time to say goodbye.”
“Oh Liz,” the Councillor started.
Lizzie’s watch beeped, “I have to go now,” she said.
“I’m sorry dear, I lost track of time,”
Lizzie smiled at the councillor, “I’m looking forward to my next session,” she said, with just a touch of irony.

This is part of my lore, and most of my dailies that include my ocs will be lore-related. This will be from ione’s (one of my ocs) point of view.
I sat on the hill, reading. I once again tried to remember something. Anything to see those people again. I had been alone for a long time. Since… forever. I sighed and flipped the page of my book. Then, I noticed someone was next to her. I screamed and kicked the person hard on their stomach. I exclaimed, “Who are you? And why are you here?” The person started to make a sound. A coughing sound. I stood up and stared at the person, trying to see their face. It was hard since the moonlight cast shadows on their face. They stopped coughing and finally said, “Oww… why would you do that? I just thought you looked lonely.”
I gasped. I hurt another innocent person. “Oh. I’m so sorry. Please forgive me, I was startled.” The person turned a flashlight on. I could finally see their face. A short girl with glasses. Long black hair and a purple backpack. She coughed again and said, “So, uhh… why are you here? I mean, what were you doing? Don’t worry about me, I’m fine.”
I exhaled, relieved that she wasn’t mad at me. “I was reading. I couldn’t sleep today, so I thought I would go out here. It’s really nice since I can’t see the city or anything else. Just the trees and the lake.” She grinned. “Cool! I was stargazing. Hey, do you want to borrow this book? It’s about this scientist who did an experiment about black holes!”
“Sure,” I took the book and yawned. “Maybe I should go back to my home. I’ll see you soon.” As I started to walk away, the girl spoke again. “Hey! So umm… can I know your name? In case we meet again?”
I was surprised, but I replied, “I’m Ione. I hope to see you again.” She joyfully said, “You can call me WC.”

July 2022 SWC Writing Megathread
Daily 7/16
——
As Alea swiftly turned the corner, she could see her French-styled home come into view. Her eyes then flickered to her parents; they were both standing in the front yard, side-by-side, looking worried.
That's when she saw the three figures in black cloaks behind them. Actually, it looked like one figure was holding her mom, one was holding her dad, and the last figure was just standing in front of both of her restrained parents.
No. No. No.
Alea froze, swallowing hard. They had her parents. This wouldn't be good.
Carefully, and very quietly, she crept to a nearby bush that allowed her to see them, but they couldn't necessarily see her.
The figure that was holding Alea's dad seemed to sigh in impatience. “What are we going to do with them?” he asked.
“You're not doing anything with us.” her dad snapped, attempting–and failing–to twist free. But the figure's grip was too tight.
“Not yet,” that same figure retorted.
Alea felt goosebumps spread across her skin.
Not yet, not yet, not yet.
But they would at some point.
“Enough with the games! Honestly, they're not the real concerns here–the real concerns lie where the caches are, and our highly advanced tracking system tracked that the caches were here, so you have five minutes to explain before we just kill you and look for them ourselves.” the third figure that stood in the very center of their lawn told everyone, narrowing his eyes, especially at Alea's mom, who'd been really quiet lately.
But that's not what Alea was focused on. She was much more focused on the fact that there were three weird, creepy figures that'd grabbed her parents, accused them of stealing some cache–whatever that was–and then threatened to kill both of them if they didn't tell them where the cache was.
She always knew that her parents talked about “grown-up things” when she wasn't around, but this…this sounded like it was much, much bigger than just that.
Alea watched as her parents sucked in a breath, glancing at each other. Then, her dad spoke first, breaking the silence. “Look, we don't know what you think you know, but whatever it is, it's wrong.”
The second figure scoffed. “English, please.”
Her dad rolled his eyes, and shook his head so hard, Alea was scared it'd fall off. “I'm saying we don't have your precious little cache.”
That seemed to quiet everyone down, making the atmosphere silent and tense. Birds chirped, bees buzzed, and the wind blew softly, making Alea's dark brown hair fly in front of her face. She had to carefully brush it away, so she could see what was happening.
“So, you're one hundred percent sure that you don't have the cache?” the first figure asked.
Her dad hesitated–just for one split second–before he shook his head again. “No, we don't.”
The third figure took a step closer to them, and they seemed to almost shrink down in his presence. “Well, maybe your daughter has it, then,” he said, a huge smirk on his face that made Alea sick to her stomach.
“Leave our daughter alone!” her mom cried. She'd twisted so much that she almost broke free from the first figure's viselike grip, but it wasn't quite enough. If anything, the figure just tightened his grip.
“Interesting. So your daughter does have something to hide then, yes?” the third figure asked, taking a step even closer to them. And the worst part was, her parents didn't say a word.
Did that mean Alea did have something to hide?
Was it good?
Was it bad?
Why did her parents not even bother to tell her?
That third figure laughed, so wickedly that she was pretty sure she'd have nightmares about it for weeks. “That's exactly what I thought,” he said to them, then turned to face the other two figures. “You guys look for their daughter and bring her to me. I'll take care of these two.”
The third figure reached into his pocket to pull something out…
A gun.
He was going to shoot and kill her parents, right then and there.
Alea stumbled up to her feet, ducking out of the figures' sight, and ran as fast as she could, away from her house. She had to get away from there. She. Had. To.
She. Had. To.

Multitasking Crime
Seven different spots around the world.
Seven alarms disabled, seven soft footed thieves breaking into highly protected museums.
Seven paintings stolen in the dead of night.
Sydney. Mexico. Delhi. Beijing. Berlin. Athens. Cairo. Seven places that have nothing in common.
What is the connection here? No one knows.
On midnight of the 14th of July, 2022, seven priceless works of art vanished without a trace. There appears to be nothing in common with the crimes aside from the fact that they all happened in the same hour, and all there are no sightings of the thieves.
The police in seven different countries are all stumped. Art thefts have increased all around the world, but never at this scale and with this much ferocity before. How exactly did the thieves pull it off? And where on earth are the paintings right now?
“I gotta admit, I wasn’t really payin’ attention,” said the night watchman at the museum of Sydney, “I’ve worked here for twenty nine years, all straight A’s, nothing suspicious. I let my guard down that night” According to the watchman, he went off patrol to take a bathroom break. The moment he came back, the painting was gone.
“The thief must have been lying in wait for him,” said crime expert Mary Mora, “The moment the watchman left, the cams went down and they struck, quick and silent. What’s surprising though is that there was no guarantee the watchman wouldn’t be vigilant, but the thief was willing to stake on it anyway.”
In Mexico, an original Frida Kahlo was swiped from a local museum, much to the devastation of the community.
“It’s a crime! They are robbing our country of culture!” a local museum enthusiast declared.
During one of the few days when the museum was closed, the painting was stolen. No one was in the area when it happened.
In Delhi, India, the crime cranked up to an entirely different level.
The art gallery was famous for its high security. Security guards are on patrol 24/7. All the reports from the guards on duty are exactly the same-
“It was late at night when I suddenly started feeling sleepy. Then a strange smoke filled the room and I fell asleep,”
It appears that a volatile sleep inducing gas had been slipped inside the air vents, both knocking out the guards and obscuring the thief from the cameras. This is the most the thieves have ever shown themselves.
“It’s a daring, but risky approach,” said Mora, “Genius if it worked, which it did. But there was always a chance that the smoke would have cleared too early, and the thief spotted.”
In Beijing, an antique Ming vase from China’s ancient roots was swiped right from the nose of the museum curator.
“I like to come to check on the vase sometimes,” he said, “It is truly a work of art and history. But when I came on the 14th, I placed my hand on the glass and saw a shadowy figure in the reflection. A moment later, I felt a shocking blow to the head and was knocked out. When I woke up… the vase… the beautiful vase… was gone.”
The camera footage cut out for exactly ten seconds. Apparently, enough time for the thief to get in and out without anyone but the curator spotting them.
“It is by far the boldest the thieves have been so far,” Mora reports.
The crime in Berlin was the most mysterious. A sculpture was stolen without anyone noticing despite the fact that there were people, and the museum was open at the time. The investigators are completely baffled.
In Athens, an ancient Roman artefact was stolen during its display to a different country's ambassador. The museum was temporarily evacuated due to the fire alarm going off, and that was when the thief struck. The artefact was gone by the time the museum was re-entered.
In contrast, an actual fire was started in Cairo, smoking out the occupants, giving the thief enough time to get away with Hatseput’s mask and a bust of Nefertiti.
“What baffles me the most,” says Mora, “Is the inconsistency. All seven crimes were completed in completely different ways, yet in the same hour. There’s no such thing as a coincidence, this scheme is much larger than it seems to be,”
“It’s almost like a game,” says Detective Steve Frauge, “All the thieves differ in their attempts. Some cases, like China and Greece, were simple and straightforward, yet we still don’t know how the thieves avoid detection so well. In contrast, Germany and Australia, where there were zero sightings, seem almost like a magic trick.”
And it does seem like a magic trick. What are the connections between the seven crimes? The seven thieves? The seven countries from which things were stolen from?
No one knows.
Part 2 - Main Opinion Article (800 words)
Donut hole - Do not eat
We may need that famous cliche` right about now - you know, the one about police and donuts? Because the food at Dylan’s Donut Hole is so utterly atrocious, it should be considered a crime against humanity.
The choice to explore this eatery over so many more promising others wasn’t easy. The other candidates were Saffron Bakery and Creshando, two well known restaurants. But following a hot tip from an anonymous source, we decided to check this place out.
It definitely wasn't worth our time.
The donuts arrived on our restaurant critic’s plate looking more like misshapen eggs. The normally perfect rings were goopy, messy balls. How can Dylan’s Donut Hole be called a hole if their donuts don’t have holes in them?
From that moment on, it was obvious that this meal would not be going anywhere good.
Between the oddly shaped donuts and the decor, the diner does not do well in first impressions. The dimly lit, grey walled room gives the critic the impression of a military bunker. The iron chairs are painfully uncomfortable, and the tables seem ready to give way.
The donuts themselves are indescribably horrible.
The sugary sweet confections that are normally a treat around the world are enough to make you toss your cookies. The dough is as hard as a rock and requires much more chewing than necessary, while also being remarkably tasteless. The sugar is overly sweet, stimulating the taste buds and making it hard to feel much of anything, other than disgust. The icing is painfully sticky, and couts the roof of your mouth. All in all, you’d be better off eating cement.
The one redeeming quality of the donuts are the sprinkles. Bought directly from the factory, and poured in large quantities, they are a meal in themselves, and perhaps the only truly edible thing in the diner.
The atmosphere for eating was almost worse, but the donuts had it beat. The grimy grey walls fill a bad taste in your mouth before you even touch your plate. Perhaps, with a bit of colourful paint and brighter lights, the diner can have a little more bling to it.
One of the only interesting factors to the business plan of the restaurant is the lottery machine. With every donut comes a ticket to spin the wheel. Options on the wheel range from “Free tissue” to “A ninety percent discount on donuts for a month!” The hit or miss approach with equally devastating and exhilarating results is surprisingly well thought out. And when the critic checked behind the counter - it wasn’t even rigged!
Dylan’s Donut Hole is closely affiliated with a nearby Cafe` - Saffron Bakery.
While most neighbouring eateries have intense rivalries, the owner of the Cafe`, Sharma Singh, has a long standing relationship with Dylan. THey trade recipes and kitchen equipment and help each other out when needed.
In contrast to the Donut Hole, Saffron deserves five stars in their rating system. So why go through the trouble of helping out the Donut Hole?
“I’m just doing a favour for a friend,” Singh said, “We should all be working on improving our community a bit here. I’m not interested in animosity, I’m interested in forming bonds of friendship and alliances.”
It appears that regular recipe drops from Saffron are the only reason Dyaln’s Donut Hole is still up and running.
When interviewed, a cook claimed that they would rather work anywhere else in the world. When asked why then, do they continued to work at Dylan’s, they denied comment.
In an interview with the owner, Dylan himself, he claimed to have plans to eventually turn the diner into a chain of healthy eating donut shops. The customer rates are currently close to zero, which makes this critic wonder how it can possibly be accomplished. Where is the money coming from? How can Dylan possibly purchase more resources in order to set up a chain? It appears that this Donut eater may be all sprinkles and no substance.
The greatest surprise for the critic came after the bill (unreasonable prices for such an awful meal) was paid, and they were ready to leave. A suspicious squeaking sound began in one corner, and a full grown rat rushed out into plain view! Has the diner filled any health requirements? Has it even been inspected? Is it even safe?
Also suspicious are the numbers. The restaurant claims a thousand square feet floor plan, yet the reviewer found themselves in a tightly cramped table with no space to even stretch their legs. Between the flickering lights, the grimy atmosphere, the lack of hygiene, and most importantly - the atrocious donuts, it's no wonder that Dylan’s Donut Hole has no customers.
Someone call the cops - we need to shut this place down!

Lady Vernier - Esteemed Art Collector or Common Thief?
With the rise of untraceable art thefts across the globe, including the famous Seven Crimes, it must be questioned whether all is as it seems. Lady Victoria Vernier, the art collector of the century, has a suspicious access to priceless art. However, all her records of purchase are in perfect order, but following a hunch, star reporter Ivory Olivine took the investigative initiative.
While the receipts for the purchase of paintings are in order, their price is much too low. All of the paintings owned by Lady Vernier were bought at less than a quarter of their worth. Perhaps she has some way of coercing their former owners to part with the paintings at incredibly low rates.
How? Stay tuned to find out.

Ruby Lin knows how to play a tune, or she did until last night, at the esteemed Wendell Hall or Music and Art, where she crashed and burned her recital.
Lin has always been the most reliable musician, skilled in multiple string instruments and guaranteed to give you a stunning performance? What happened today?
Let’s take a deeper dive into what was going on behind the scenes.
At the previous concert, Lin’s usual lowkey affair, she hit every cord and gave a performance worthy of Mozart himself? So what went wrong at Wendell Hall - Lin’s first time on a stage of that scale. Was it stage fright? Or something much more sinister?
A witness from backstage reported the suspicious and unauthorised visit of James Breckendale, a star violinist.
“I didn’t say anything because… well… it was Breckendale!” they said, “He goes where he wants to go. He belongs on a stage,”
Perhaps Breckendale paid Lin a visit. In fact, there are several witness accounts to support that he did. The nature of his visit is yet to be determined, but it is suspected that he threatened Lin before her performance, in order to rattle her and keep his position as the best musician of the modern world.
But is this true? Find out in our next edition.

July 2022 SWC Writing Megathread
WEEKLY 2
Part 1! (Fake crime about robbery in Miss Vanessa’s nursery): (823 words)
Just a few days ago, the robbery in Miss Vanessa Robinson’s nursery was discovered. The nursery, Robinson’s Nursery, may sound boring and uninteresting, but it is full of different kinds of plants. This nursery has been standing for over a hundred years, and hence appreciated by all.
On the 13th of July, the police received a report from Miss Robinson regarding the robbery of the hundred-year-old pots that had been passed down in her family for generations. Also, some other disasters were discovered, including all the plants and the soil scattered all over the place. The nursery’s oldest tree was also cut down.
Due to this nursery being highly protected and also because this nursery is very, very old, private detectives from New York City have been called upon.
On the 14th of July, the police scanned the nursery for any clues that would lead to the identity of the robber. None were found, of course, and the police placed CCTV cameras in the remaining areas of the nursery that were not completely harmed.
On the 15th of July, the private detectives from New York came and scanned the area, but no clues were found. They then called upon everyone associated with the nursery for interrogation. First, the security guards were interrogated.
DETECTIVES: Where were you during nighttime of 12th July?
GUARDS: Guarding the nursery, of course. You can check the CCTV’s outside too.
DETECTIVES: Did anyone come in during the time you were outside?
GUARDS: No one at all, sir.
DETECTIVE: Did you hear any sound? Anything counts.
GUARDS: We did hear a sound from the back door.
DETECTIVE: Did you check who it was?
GUARDS: Yes, but when we reached there, no one was there.
DETECTIVES: Thank you for your time, dear guards. We shall call you again soon.
The back door was checked for clues too, and sure enough, there lay a lighter, pushed to the very corner. It was checked, and sure enough, fingerprints were found. The detectives took the lighter in their possesion and started taking the fingerprints of the staff of the nursery.
On the 16th of July, around 9 am, the fingerprint scanning was started. Due to the numerous amount of people working in the nursery, the scanning stretched on for a few days.
On the 18th of July, when finally everyone’s fingerprints were taken, they went for checking and turns out, no one’s prints matched!
So, the investigation continued. Even after a thorough search, however, no clues were found. “The investigation is becoming harder and harder with every step we take,” said one of the detectives. “Usually these methods would hollow out the case, but right now, all of these methods seem to be failing.”
On the 20th of July, one of the detectives suggested to watch the outside CCTV’S. A crucial clue was discovered in the recording in the CCTV placed outside. There was a movement inside the nursery, and it was found out because the detectives spotted a shadow through one of the windows. The recording was zoomed in on, and the police now knew that the person was a female, not a male.
Then, they decided to gather all the females in the town, except Miss Vanessa. The lighter was showed to each of them, and they were asked a set of questions, but all of them denied as to ever having owned that lighter. The answers to the interrogation were recorded in a notebook.
On the 21st of July, the description of the stolen goods was collected, and so was Miss Vanessa’s alibi. According to her, she had left the nursery very early, around 7 pm, and the robbery could not have taken place this early. The detectives asked her what she had done after leaving the nursery. “I had first gone to the hospital to check on my friend’s father who has just become a victim of cancer. By the time I came back, it was already 9 pm, as the hospital is 30 minutes far from my house, and I stayed for an hour. Then, I made myself some tortillas and went to sleep.”
The detectives checked the hospital, and everything matched with Miss Robinson’s alibi. There truly was a victim of cancer in the hospital, and this “kind young lady” had come to visit 9 days ago.
The detectives, piecing the clues together, figured that the robbery had taken place after 11 pm. Perhaps the robber had already planned her escape? That was the question that came to the detectives’ mind.
The airport was called, and a warrant for checking the luggage of passengers was issued. However, nothing suspicious was found in any baggage. Questions were asked, and it was found that a person with flower pots had actually left the country.
Now the detectives will have to go all the way to Brazil to solve this case! More of this will be coming soon, so keep tuned!
Part 2 (Review of Scratch Restaurant): (1059 words)
Hello there! As we all know, a new restaurant has opened in Scratch, and as a responsible reporter, I’ll go and see how it is.
First of all, I absolutely hate the name. It’s really lame. Not creative at all. Who would name a restaurant “Scratch Restaurant”?
Second of all, its not located in a place that could be called “favourable”. The area around it kind of stinks and it’s not exactly full of the hustle and bustle that should’ve been around Scratch’s official restaurant.
Third of all, it’s so sloppy! From the outside, it looks like an old garage painted with the words “Scratch Restaurant” in sloppy handwriting. But as they say, Don’t judge a book by its cover.
I step inside the restaurant, and I guess it looks fine. Walls painted in mustard color, although an odd choice, looks fine with the theme of the restaurant. At least there is an air conditioner! The table is a bit yellow and a teensy-tiny bit of orange.
I’m actually really shocked at the amount of people here. This is Scratch’s official restaurant! Why is it so empty?
Anyway, I’m going to order something to eat. Probably a pizza and some cake. Maybe some mikshake too.
The restaurant is not exactly fragrant, and most of the staff is wearing scratch cat costumes. I must say I’m not enjoying this experience up till now.
So, before I say more, I would like to tell you more about this restaurant I’m in.
Basically, SWC (Scratch Writing Camp) has many cabins, and out of them the Real-fi cabin decided to open a second restaurant. They named it Scratch Restaurant because maybe they were out of creativity. And maybe they kept it in a deserted place because they didn’t have good spots. And maybe they weren’t rich enough to make the restaurant too grand. Who knows?
Then, and I don’t know why (maybe I’m just not a good reporter) they got it made Scratch’s official restaurant. I have no idea why scratch accepted this garage-type restaurant. Anyway, we can’t do anything about it, and we have to stick with this empty place as our official restaurant. Next thing we know this restaurant is going to get awards for being the place with the most customers.
Here we go, strawberry milkshake with pizza and cake. Smells tempting.
Now that I have tasted it, I think it tastes fine. Not too good, not too bad. I do feel a bit dissapointed, though. I had much more expectations from this restaurant.
I would rate this 2/5!
Next, we are going to ask other customers about their thoughts on the restaurant! Our interviewees are: @Isauree @-galaxyii- @snowyforest- @-WritingIsCool
First, @Isauree:
“Hello, Skye!” I say, grinning. “How would you rate this restaurant and why?”
“I think 1.5/5. The restaurant doesn’t look really nice at all. The food wasn’t really that great too. Tasted kind of burnt, and they charged too much. The only thing I liked was how cool it was and the way the food was served. I also liked the scratch cat mascots and the yellow vibe.”
Thank you, Isauree, we shall now move on to the next person, @-galaxyii-:
“Hello Ryu!” I say, grinning again. All this grinning is kind of tiring me out. “How would you rate this restaurant and why?”
Ryu smiles back at me and says: “I would suppose 3/5. I would have given it a 3.5 or 4 out of five but the food tasted a bit stale, but it was okay otherwise. Good customer service but not enough seats for everyone as it was a pretty crowded day on which I visited, so I and a couple of other customers had to stand while waiting for our food and even while eating for a while. The food also took longer than I'd expected to be served but well, it was quite crowded. I might visit again but not my really the best restaurant that I've been to.”
Thanks to you too, Ryu, for your feedback. It was quite long but I appreciate it. Let’s move on to @snowyforest-!
“Hey there Pandora!” I grinned. “How would you rate this restaurant and why?”
Pandora smiled at me. I enjoyed the real-fi restaurant! The noodles were well done, but the pizza was burned. The mango shake was simply fantastic though! The restaurant was cramped, and there was an annoying 20 minute wait, but it made sense since the restaurant was packed. The staff was very polite and apologized multiple times for the wait. If I’m in a rush and crave mango treats, the Real-Fi Restaurant will be my first stop!”
Thank you, Pandora. Next, we have @-WritingIsCool!
“Hi James!” I smile again. My cheekbones have started to hurt by now. “How would you rate this restaurant and why?”
James smiled at me too. I suppose everyone likes smiling! “A 2/5 it is! Not the worst restaurant I've been to, but the food was bland, and the place was in need of some cleaning. I was there on an average day, but the waiting time was slow, I can't help but think a busy day would be pretty terrible. The staff were nice enough but I can't imagine going back unless I was out of better options.”
I suppose I was the only one who came on an empty day.
That’s it for the interviews. I hope you got an idea of the restaurant from this. As for my own feedback, it would be this:
“Hello, Twi.” I say to myself, still grinning. “How would you rate this restaurant and why?”
I smile at myself, and say: “Well, I suppose a 2/5. First of all, the surroundings of this restaurant stink, and the door looks like a kid’s doodle. I think the inside was fine, and the yellow color matched with scratch, and so did the scratch mascots. And the air conditioner was divine. I need to ask where they got it from. Wait.” I go and ask where they got the air conditioner.
“It’s from some company nearby but anyway, as I was saying. The food was fine, it felt kind of like it was a day old, but it tasted fine enough.”
Thanks everyone for reading up till here, and do visit this restaurant at least once. After all, it sells mangoes too!
Part 3 (Advice Column): (542 words)
Question by Dark-Ehko:
Is it okay for children to read heavy gore?
Answer: I think so, as long as you don’t feel uncomfortable reading it. Most parents would say no, but I would personally recommend that you should read it as long as you want to and as long as you’re sure you won’t get scared or uncomfortable. You can try reading it as a trial, and if you find it comfortable to read it and you are able to enjoy it without any fear or problem, I would recommend you should read heavy gore! But if you feel scared or uncomfortable, I would say that you put it on hold and when you feel you won’t have any problem reading gory books, you can read them!
Question by Ilishaqueen:
My school is stressful and my parents have barred me from SWC
What should I do?
Answer: Hey Ili! Everyone has that phase in their lives when their life seems like a complete mess! I think you should focus more on your school than SWC! After all, SWC is going to come back in October and school stuff is not. Maybe after you dedicate yourself to your school, you’ll have time left in the end. But as of now, I think you should consider your education more important. Scratch Writing Camp is going to come next time, and then you can enjoy yourself! Also, I would not exactly consider your parents correct, but in some ways they are. I suppose they want you to focus more on your grades and school, because they believe that education is everyone’s first priority, and it is. Try to talk to your parents and tell them your opinion, and try to understand their motive for barring you! That will surely help you understand the situation better!
Question from Dark-Ehko:
How do I make myself ignore someone?
Answer: Hello again, Dark-Ehko! Well, as to the answer of this question, I think you’ll have to stop talking to them or listening to them. If they talk to you, you got to hold your replies in. If you do this a couple of weeks, you’ll start getting distanced from the person, and the person you are ignoring will also understand that you don’t want to listen to what they have to say. Basically, try not to think about them and don’t listen to what they say. Show them that you won’t be talking to them.
Question from Cherrie_Tree:
My poor sleep schedule has led me to get a bad grade, and my parents are very strict about them. They won't let me do SWC now
What should I do?
Answer: Hey Cherrie! No offense, but I really blame you for this. You should put your sleep above everything else! Don’t lose sleep for anything! It leads to mental sickeness, and, of course, bad grades. Try to focus more on your grades for the meanwhile. It’s okay if you don’t get to do SWC this session! You can always come next session! You should focus more on your studies and show your parents good grades! That will hopefully make them put off a few restrictions. As we all know, SWC<IRL! Don’t fail yourself in life while doing SWC!

July 2022 SWC Writing Megathread
(for the SWC weekly)
THE RAVENPARK PAPER
Part 1: Fake Crime
Last week in the upper northern part of Ravenpark Township on Mango Street, they hosted an election, except no one had shown up. “This was a very odd circumstance indeed, since usually every single person in town at the time, every year, would arrive early to vote,” Mrs. Ren, the head officer overlooking the election stated. “As an officer, well, I knew I couldn’t just stand there and wait for any more people much longer. So that’s when I decided to leave the booth, but I didn’t have any idea of what was about to happen.” And that is correct, since she definitely did not have any idea what was coming up around the bend.
Mrs. Ren usually deals with safety issues and crimes around the city, but this one was definitely her biggest one yet. She was about to face off with her worst fear, and that was the possibility of losing her job. “I didn’t understand it at first, but then out of nowhere, someone snatched me from the streets and took me down into this cellar-like structure. It was so odd, because I had this feeling I had been there before, but the person who snatched me told me not to ask questions, so I didn’t, in fear of the consequences to come,” Mrs. Ren reported.
“I took multiple glances around the room when I had the chance to, but the snatcher’s hand was usually covering my vision. It was so hard to see, but at one point, I started recognizing other people’s faces around the room. It was eerie, but it seemed like the faces belonged to everyone in town,” Mrs. Ren clarified. It seemed impossible to her and many others for a while that this snatcher could’ve grabbed everyone and pulled them into this cellar, but with Mrs. Ren’s police training, she had other ideas. “Finally after what seemed like an hour, the snatcher had taken his hand off of me. Around the room people from what looked like all different areas of the town gaped at me like they were some sort of zombie. It was a strange sight to my eyes, and when I looked down, I realized what had happened to them.”
We’ve found evidence as well from the townspeople in the cellar about what exactly happened. Local Newsreporter Emmett, who usually reports for us on the news here in the upper northern part of Ravenpark, said he had been there at the time of the occurrence as well. “The snatcher took most of us into this cellar by telling us this was the new location to do our voting, and pretty much all of the townsfolk believed it was, like myself. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I finally realized it was all a trap, and that we were down there for some sort of testing. We were all put into these capsules where they basically took all of our consciousness from, and we were left paralyzed for the time being after being in the capsule for at least 2-3 hours.”
We can confirm this too with more evidence from Mrs. Ren.
“When I tried to scream and shout out for help, it’s like no one could answer me. They were all frozen in shock, but I knew they couldn’t take this situation much longer. I could feel the machine doing something to me, transforming me, changing me into some sort of trapped zombie and I understood that this was most likely what was happening to them as well. So I ripped off the machine and kicked it across to the side of the room, but I felt like it had drained some of my energy. Even with some energy gone however, I forced myself to crack open the capsules, but I just couldn’t do it all on my own. Lucky for me, I had my walkie-talkie on hand so I called the crew who were flopped on the chairs back at the booth. It didn’t take long for them to arrive and help out, but I was so out of it, I could barely help out.”
Thanks to the Mrs. Ren and the team at the booth, this Ravenpark incident was left on a good note. “I kind of feel bad for barely helping out, but after the incident everyone was down on energy, so I guess that thought kind of makes me feel better. I really hope our town recovers quickly so we can get back to normal. It was such a weird circumstance, I’m really glad it’s over now,” Mrs. Ren admitted. However, our team of reporters do not believe this is the case. With the snatcher on the run, who knows what is in the future for this side of town? Find out in the next report.

Part 2: Restaurant Review
“There is this tiny little restaurant on Mango Street called the Mang O’s that I love so much! I’d rate this five stars out of five stars! It’s seriously that good,” says influencer Katherine Jean. “I mean, I could go on and on about how great the quality is, but I think it’d be better if I talked about my favorite food to get there, and why you should get it too! First off, they have a menu for every category of food, which is absolutely perfect to me, because it clears out the foods I can’t eat into a separate category. You see, I’m lactose intolerant, so I’m not able to eat anything in the dairy menu, but with this addition, it becomes such a helpful little safety measure!”
Katherine Jean has been to many different restaurants in her life, but she states that this is by far the best one she has ever been to. “To anyone out there who is also lactose intolerant, and to anyone else who is not as well, I’d recommend trying the Mango Sorbet, since it is delicious! It’s like this creamy, juicy type of ice cream, except it is surprisingly completely dairy free! They make it without your regular kind of milk, and they use coconut milk which is the literal image of chef’s kiss! That switch is that simple and yet so delightful!” Katherine Jean has also proclaimed that she’s been inside of the kitchens where they make the glorious food. She’s admitted that it is like a tropical paradise in there and has even shown footage of it.
“I’ve been on many tropical islands before, but trust me, this feels exactly like a tropical island, if not even better! It smells, looks, and just gives off the vibes of one in general!” She has declared on her social media posts. “Also, there is a special that they serve up in here and it is amazing. It’s called the Mango Chip Brownies, and it tastes as if you had a dream full of treats. And what do you know? It’s also completely dairy free!”
In her blog posts she’s said that she’s been around the globe trying all types of different foods, but that this restaurant just struck her as really unique. “They also have this incredible porch area for dining out, and I think it is so splendid! It’s like its own little garden outside! I mean, the chairs are porch swings! It’s that crazy!” Katherine Jean pressed on.
“I honestly could not believe my eyes when I first walked into this restaurant. It’s a surprising find after a long journey of looking at every restaurant I can. I think it’s just truly amazing and I’m definitely going to come back here again. The food is astounding, the music is so fitting for the theme of this restaurant, the decorations and detail they put into this place really touches my heart, and the general fragrance they’ve added to this place is marvelous. I think it’s definitely up there in the top ten restaurants to check out in the world, so I mean, just yes,” Katherine Jean remarks.
In addition to Katherine Jean’s opinion, chef Jeff Geoff has an interesting perspective on the restaurant himself. “I feel blessed to work here in all honesty, because yes, the people are lovely, but there are some parts of my job where it just doesn’t work out for me. Like for instance, the down payment that happens every once a month. It’s true, it’s a rather nice place, but sometimes they drop our payments and we don’t earn as much money as we usually do. It’s like whenever they don’t have enough money to keep the place the way it is, they make us the ones who suffer the consequences, which is kind of unfair,” chef Jeff Geoff pointed out.
“I don’t get why we get down payments monthly, but I guess it doesn’t bother me too much, otherwise like I do to most unfair things, I’d have started a riot against it by now. The people here are super friendly and polite, so the work environment is pretty awesome, so I don’t really have much against my job. Our work policies are fair, we get off at decent times, we get to choose when we need a well deserved break, and we get to work in a rather nice place, so I guess there really isn’t much that I dislike. I guess I’d rate the restaurant a 4 out of 5,” chef Jeff Geoff admits.
As you can see, both Chef Jeff Geoff and Katherine Jean have similar thoughts on the restaurant, but what do you think of this restaurant? Would you come to it, and what would you rate it? Find out different people’s ratings on Mang O’s in the next paper.

Part 3: Travel
“There’s definitely a lot of places to tour here,” states ranger Marie Clark, “and I think that this area is definitely worth coming to. I mean, what can I say, there’s curious mysteries here, old history, cute shops and restaurants, and super friendly people. I feel like it’s such a lovely little community, but where would be the best place to travel you ask me? Well, that answer is Raven Falls.”
Marie Clark is a ranger who works around the national landmark, Raven Falls, so she knows what it’s like to work there. She claims that Raven Falls is the best location to check out if you’re ever on a vacation to Ravenpark, and has given us a bit of a look at the beautiful national treasure. “When you first step foot in this area, you’ll find that there are so many little smooth rocks spread out around the area. That’s because there used to be a river here just 10 years ago, but with the help of our crew here on site, we’re trying to bring it back! We ask simply to have anyone coming here to tread carefully over this prized land, since there are a lot we are trying to do to fix the drastic issue,” Marie Clark mentions.
“With enough of that aside though, let’s get further through the park! The second most likely detail of this national spot you would come across would be the Stone Raven, a huge rock that looks like a raven about to take flight, and this by the way, is partly why our town is called Ravenpark. It’s kind of theorized that this Raven guards our town and has kept us in safety for all 500 years this town has been around. It’s believed that if this rock was chipped, safety would slip away from this area. But that’s just a theory, let’s see some more!” Marie Clark comments.
“This might be our last location we check out today, and since I’ve been working all day long, I’m not going to climb up the hill to really go though the details from up there. Instead, I’ll give you a brief summary of what it would be like. Basically, there is this viewpoint up at the top where you can see over the entire landscape of Ravenpark, and if you look slightly down, you’ll see the gorgeous, shimmering waterfall splashing into the stream way down below. There’s also this tiny little cafeteria where they serve up the most delicious milkshakes. Now I’m thirsty for one, I better go get it,” Marie Clark announces.
Thanks to Marie Clark, you now have some more insight on the park. It’s rather beautiful, isn’t it? However, there may just be a lot more to explore. She has given us a brief overview, but is this your ideal vacation location? There’s so much to see, so much to do, but where does your journey begin? Climb your way up to the top now and discover a world of endless possibilities you’ve never seen before. So what are you waiting for?

Weekly #3:
A diverse landscape kingdom with a beautiful shimmering castle right up on top of the tallest mountain.
Large empire under the rule of one king, King Ledeth IX.
The kingdom is called Ledatha, after the Ledeth kings, who originally founded the kingdom on brittle rocky ice.
For years, the Ledeth family has treated people under their rule with kindness and prosperity, but King Ledeth IX has other plans of his own.
Through many years of trading, the kingdom of Ledatha has become the largest on the planet, Mastenor, and has become a very diverse community of races that range from Elwin, (Elves with wings on them), Dwarfkin, Gobbelins, Merfolk, Vampyres, Ploreyains, (The word they use for humans), Witches, Wizards, and Warlocks.
If you’re from the kingdom of Ledatha, you would be called a Ledathan.
For around 100 years at the most, before the rule of King Ledeth VI who was born in 1800, the Ledathan citizens had been at war with the kingdom of Ophania, which wanted to take control of Ledatha, but fortunately, King Ledeth VIII won the war before any real damage commenced, and Ophania became rather good allies with Ledatha in the end.
The kingdom of Ledatha has stood strong for at least 300 years.
The past kings of Ledatha include King Ledeth I (born 1650, died 1715), King Ledeth II (born 1683, died 1732), King Ledeth III (born 1709, died 1756), King Ledeth IV (born 1729, died 1767), King Ledeth V (born 1758, died 1832), King Ledeth VI (born 1800, died 1873), King Ledeth VII (born 1837, died 1894), King Ledeth VIII (born 1860, died 1958), King Ledeth IX (born 1904, currently living)
There are five separate sections of the kingdom, the Shadowed Forest home of the Warlocks, Witches, and Wizards, the Hazy Meadow home of the Elwin, the Blanketed Cove home of the Merfolk, the Chasm Cave home of the Dwarfkin, Gobbelins, and Vampyres, and of course, the main capital of the kingdom, Ledatha.
Also, bordering the entire kingdom of Ledatha is a huge swamp called the Ledathan Mud Thicket.
Ledatha is a monarchy, and sadly, the Queen is not considered in full rule of the Ledatha kingdom.
In the city they have many classic fairy tales, some of which include The Dreary Dress, A Dwarf’s Wish, Dream Pocket, Lit up the Dark, and Think About It.
Since Ledatha is a monarchy, they do not have elections for who leads their kingdom. For around 300 years, kings have ruled over the land, and sadly the queens have never been said to be in control, but that might change soon since the current king has a daughter and not a son. So the king is dealing with the struggle of trying to keep their “kingship,” while a load of people in the kingdom are having riots to have the daughter as their first queen.
The most treasured career people have in Ledatha is indeed being a royal officer. If you have that career, you basically are the closest to being royalty, which is what most people want in Ledatha.
Most of the people living in Ledatha work on the farms, which is around 80% of the population. The other 20%, however, work as merchants around the five sections of land or are the royalty living in the grand castle themselves.
Ledatha leans towards being more of a medieval kingdom in looks than our modern city, but it does sometimes seem like our modern day city in it’s laws and other things, except not the monarchy part, since that’s highly based off of the medieval style of running a kingdom.
Their main items they produce in Ledatha are gold, iron, coal, wheat, and milk, but with their five different sections of land, over time the items they have doubled and they were able to retrieve more items as well for trading.
They do not have phones or devices like our modern city, but they do have holographic phones that only communicate with other people, they don’t have any apps or stuff like that.
Royalty is treated with high respect in this kingdom, and people often pay respects to them with gifts they bring in, but some people are starting riots towards this since they don’t like having to give up all of their belongings to royalty that already has and can get plenty of items for themselves.
Part 1: Connections
Ledatha, over its 300 years has made many connections with other kingdoms across the globe of Mastenor. These kingdoms include the second largest kingdom of Ophania, and the small kingdoms of Derivot, Evarl, Ravindeen, and Corilpeer. Every other kingdom is neutral to them, since Ledatha is not one to go to war with many. However, in it’s past, Ledatha had been at war with Ophania for around 100 years, and that was before the birth of King Ledeth VI. King Ledeth VIII had decided after all this time that he would unite both kingdoms, and so he did.
Even with a huge population, King Ledeth IX always felt as though he should be in full control of all of Ledatha, but people rioting in the streets of Ledatha say otherwise. They have declared that they want the queen to share control in running the kingdom as well, but King Ledatha IX really wants the kingdom under only his control, so he’s not very connected with the people under his control, the Ledathans. The rioting in Ledatha has spread like wildfire around the globe, but King Ledeth IX has refused to do anything about it, since he would rather die in full charge than die with his queen partly in charge. Obviously, this is going to be a pretty huge part of Ledatha’s history now.

Part 1: Narrative
I stare out the window onto the street where dozens of people are rioting in front of my castle. I sigh and massage my forehead in annoyance. Everything this family has stood for could collapse, and I have no idea what to do about it. I feel like all of this pressure has been put on me from generation to generation, and now it’s so stressful it seems like it’s too much for me to handle. I can’t ask for anymore advice, since my father has passed on, so what am I to do about this? I stroll over to my throne and take a seat.
This kingdom will fall if I don’t do something soon but I don’t want to be the one who goes against what my family stands for. It just would be super embarrassing if I did so. I can’t deal with this right now, it’s way too much, but I can’t just pass my ownership over to my wife. No, I can’t do this! It’ll be only a few moments before the riot decides to come into the castle. I click on my phone and call up the ruler of Ophania, King Ophane III. “What is it you want?” King Ophane III asks, annoyed.
“Well, it has to do with,” I say before he cuts me off. “If it has to do with the riots that have started in your kingdom, I’m sorry, but I don’t think I have much time to help you,” King Ophane III states. I glare at him with a disappointed expression. “Okay, fine. I’ll make some time for you since, yes, this is a pretty big deal. I don’t have much time though, but I guess I can come over today. You just make sure the windows are closed off and locked and the doors are locked too. Stay safe,” he laughs, “and don’t get yourself killed.” I grunt, set off by this, but I guess that’s just your average King Ophane III.
“Guards,” I speak, “Go close all of the doors, windows, and anywhere else the riot could get in right now. Also, make sure she is out of reach,” They look at me annoyed, then say, “Yes, you’re highness.” I gape at them, then say, “Look, I’m doing you a favor too you know. This increases our chances of surviving.” They saunter out of the door, as I turn my head over to the window. This battle has just begun.

Part 2: Questions Answered
How is the education system in your world? What do your characters learn (or hypothetically would learn)?
Answer: The education system in my world isn’t exactly magic schools, but they do teach magic to races that have it in their culture to learn a specific type of magic, or in this world called ‘cultural endowment.’ It’s possible to learn other culture’s languages and ‘cultural endowment,’ but generally most people don’t choose to do it, because it’s not really something people like other people doing. You see, most cultures in this world like keeping their ‘cultural endowment’ to themselves.
What kind of magic is used in your world?
Answer: The people of this world don’t consider magic, ‘magic,’ since it’s become such a normal thing coinciding with their world. It’s more commonly called, ‘cultural endowment,’ as I’ve stated above, and it’s a rather rare occurrence when someone does happen to call it ‘magic.’ Though basically, the ‘cultural endowment’ is like magic passed on through different generations of different races of beings. Magic isn’t really ‘magic’ in their world, and most people have forgotten about the word itself. It’s like the word never even existed.
How is the magic in the world used in the character’s everyday lives? What are the different abilities?
Answer: Usually the people on this planet will just use their magic for any chores they need to complete, as long as they hone the magical skills or, ‘cultural endowment,’ to do it. They honestly don’t use it that much though, since their world has kind of developed like ours, in the sense that they already have the materials to do pretty much everything much simpler than it used to have to be done, which was much harder. The word ‘magic’ has pretty much just gone extinct by this time on this planet.
What are the laws of your world, specifically about magic? Punishments?
Answer: The laws of my world, specifically about magic, doesn’t really have many laws against it actually. Unlike most magical worlds, magic is very bland in this world and is just pretty much completely normal to the people living on this planet. The kingdoms don’t have strict policies against it since it’s super weak and can’t do much damage, and the kings and queens of the planet are completely for it. Magic is basically just another helpful tool on their planet.
What are the limitations of your world’s magic?
Answer: They don’t have very strong magic on their planet, so I guess they can’t really do very much with it. Some people on the planet wish they could do more with it, but it’s just weak magic in a sense. It’s basically like, you want to clean up your floor because it’s all dirty and messy, poof, it’s clean. Yet, besides this, you can’t really do much of anything with it. It’s not magic that could hurt someone like a lot.
Are there any sensations the characters feel when they are using magic? Describe these sensations using their five senses.
Answer: No, not really. It’s more like, “Abracadabra, wow, my house is clean!” but they don’t ever really feel anything while performing it. Besides a small ‘whoosh!’ through their body, they don’t feel, see, taste, touch, or smell anything when they perform the magic. Magic is similar to being an extra helpful tool someone has in their pockets more than anything, and it’s not something that you ever really feel since it’s very simple to do. It’s not the strongest type of magic but it definitely isn’t the weakest since it can do pretty much all of your chores for you.
How common is magic, and are all characters aware they possess it?
Answer: Magic is actually very common in their world, since most races have it passed down through their culture. Pretty much everyone on the planet is aware that they possess it, since it’s such a common thing to have. Also, everyone can learn it, so I’d say at least 99% of the population knows about magic. Since everyone is able to learn magic around the globe, no one ever got angry and no one ever had to deal with people demanding more magic, since everyone always had an equal amount of magic they could learn.
Compared to our modern society, what do the characters do differently in your world, now that magic is incorporated?
Answer: Since magic is in my character’s modern society, they are able to do chores much faster than we are, so it pretty much is a big step up from what we have ourselves for them. Life is a little simpler, you could say, there, but then again they do not have the devices we have right now, in our modern day living. I think though that it is much more pleasant though, because they are not as addicted to their tech as we have grown to be. So basically that means, they go outside more and enjoy nature a lot more than most people in our modern society do now.
Does magic affect the government of your world? If so, how?
Answer: Magic doesn’t really affect the government of my world that much compared to other stories, since it is pretty weak making it not much of a threat to them. The government has never ever really created rules against it since no one has ever been able to use it in a bad way on their planet. Without issues involving magic, or ‘cultural endowment,’ the government has never really had to deal with much about it. The world is pretty much just like ours, except slightly different.
How is magic viewed in your world (ie. as a boring normal, as a fascinating element of their life, or as a curse on society etc.)?
Answer: Magic, as I’ve stated a lot above, is kind of considered as just a boring normal in their society. They don’t do much with it besides their daily chores since it makes life ten-times simpler to them, so it’s just kind of become boring to them. It’s just like how a toy gets boring really quickly to some people, magic has kind of evolved to the people to be boring to them. People have just kind of forgotten about it, even, so most people are just bored of it nowadays on the planet.

Part 3: Dystopian Genre
Every night, I can hear the screams coming from the dungeon. I don’t know what my dad does down there, but whatever it is, he likes keeping it a secret from me. You see, I could be the future queen of Ledatha, but my father hates that idea, so he’s kept me down here in my chambers away from the hands of others. It’s scary, and I don’t know how or when I’ll be able to get out. I want to escape, but I’m so worried that the guards will come after me. These people lie about what really happens in these castle walls, and I know it from the nightly screams.
It sounds almost like my mother, but yet again, it grows different every night, more and more unfamiliar to my ears. I haven’t seen my mother in so long, so I’m not doubtful that it’s her. I keep trying to push the door blocking my exit, but it won’t even budge. Sometimes the guards will bring me food down here, but they just pass it through the flap in the door and leave quickly, so I never even have a chance to talk to them, and I’ve tried yelling, but it doesn’t work. I’m nervous, but I’ve got to stay strong. I can’t control them anymore.
My father gave me a rather nice room, but it doesn’t feel like home, which I miss. I miss seeing the blue sky up above, hearing the birds chirp as I lay on the grassy hills outside of the castle, or even being in the castle is what I miss. I have no idea when this is going to be over, but I’ve gotta keep on holding to that little strand of hope I still have. This will be over. This will be over. This will be over.

Part 3: Hidden Worlds
I sit on my wooden chair trying to ignore all of the noises around me. The cars honking, the daily hustle and bustle of people trying to get out of the door, and the thoughts in my head telling me I don’t have enough time to finish this assignment. I do, though, I know that. Or, I’ve got to tell myself that. I kick out my legs under my desk, but it hits something, and I could've sworn I’ve never put anything under my desk. I glance underneath, and see something odd. It looks like a phone, but I don’t have one, and it doesn’t quite look like one either, which is totally bizarre.
I reach out my arm to grab it, and I flip it over to check it out. The markings on it are strange, I’ve never seen them before. Then again, I only know one language, so this could be written in a different language, but even this doesn’t seem like it’s a language here on Earth. I press on it, and the world around me starts spinning. Well, that was a bad idea. Suddenly, before I know it, I’m transported to this world with very medieval style buildings. I gape around, and everyone is wearing medieval style clothing as well.
I click on the button on the phone once more, and it transports me back to my desk. Again, I click it. It’s weird, I’ve never seen something like this. This seems very alien to me. Once back in the medieval world, I briefly turn my attention to the sign that hangs right above the medieval town I’m standing in, and it says, “Welcome to the Kingdom of Ledatha.” I glance back at the phone I’m holding in my hands. Who doesn’t want a little adventure?

Part 3: Steampunk Fantasy
I click on the little light swinging above my head and close the door behind me. The steam-powered gears in my new car seem to be working, but I sit down in my little wooden chair just to check it out. I put my head in my hands and sigh while looking at my new contraption. Where do I begin? I turn off the car and take out a wrench from my coat. I then cap my goggles over my eyes from where they were positioned on my top hat and put the wrench onto the screw I still need to put in.
It’s rather easy to screw in, but that’s not the greatest sign, since it could mean my car is very loose and unstable. I hop out of my seat and take a good look around the car’s exterior. I notice a loose screw sticking out of the top and heave a sigh since I know how painful it will be just to climb up so that I can screw it in. I grab my ladder from where it was leaning against the wooden kitchen wall, and lay it up against the car. It’s not high enough unfortunately, which is my fault for not making it that tall of a ladder, so I take my wooden chair and place it where the ladder was originally. I place the ladder up on top of it and balance it to where it won’t fall. I climb up to the top of it and screw in that annoying screw.
I ascend down the ladder and then put it away, only then to click on the car. Luckily this time, it’s actually working! Phew. At least now I won’t have to be yelled at by the king. At least now I’ll be safe. For now.

THE LAST WEEKLY: SUSWC!
I glance back at the now crumbling buildings of my childhood. Where I used to live under a smooth wooden roof. Where I knew I was safe. It’s all gone now. I don’t know where to go next. Without a house, without a family, without a friend to lean on. Where do I go?
My eyes gaze over the burnt landscape. Burnt photographs of my family. Torn apart toys I used to play with. My bedroom. They’re gone now. The only remaining thing being one image of my family. I’ve got to get back to them, somehow. I just don’t know where they are.
(104 words)
After glancing through the mist of my house that used to stand here I notice a small horse plushy and my mind races into a memory. The creaky wooden roofing and the smooth grey rug of my mother’s room and her smile as she hugged me while I held my soft, furry brown horse plushie. She’d read me books and sing me songs, but where is she now? Where is she now when I need her the most? I have no idea, but I know my mission is to find her and bring her back.
I remember her holding me close and telling me she'll never lose me. And that even if she did, we would find a way back to each other. I wish she could be here right now, since I don’t know what to do next. She’d tell me everything was fine, and that everything would be okay. Then, my mind flashes into another memory and I see my dad dressed in his black tuxedo suit and his red tie. He always did seem distant and suspicious to me, but he was my dad all the same. I miss him so much.
He would always smile at me and hold me by the legs while I rode around on his shoulders. It always made me feel like I was a free bird flying around and flapping my wings. I felt like I could touch the sky and go to space, but I’ll never be able to feel that again if I don’t get my dad back. I remember his goofy grin whenever he would lift me up into the air, and his silly chuckle as he spun me around in the air.
I hope I’ll be able to get back to them soon, I just need a place to start off on my journey of finding them.

He is rather good at acting, (he just doesn’t want to do it though sometimes which is sad xD).
Vivianne Beverly is chosen by the government for a secret mission, except the thing is, Vivianne Beverly doesn’t even know that this is her job, or that she is even helping the villainous government herself. All she knows is that she has to find her parents, as told by a creepy dude in a tuxedo suit or told so, which she then supposed he worked for some high tech company, which indeed he does not, because he works for the evil government. Basically, Vivianne overhead someone from what she supposes is the, “some high tech company,” talking in a construction area about Vivianne’s job. This is where the creepy dude in a tuxedo suit was, and seemly, “told her,” about her job. The only thing she is looking for are her parents, because she doesn’t know where they went and she has no home now.
Vivianne’s house was burnt down right after the disappearance of her parents, and now she is on the hunt to do what, “the chosen one,” apparently has to do. Like any other, “chosen one,” story, she is the one said to do something in some sort of prophecy. In the prophecy, it basically says she’ll be the next leader in my story’s world.

I run past all the stilts and poles being used in the construction of a new building that is coming along. It seems to me as though it’s a replacement for my old house. The one that was burnt down by that high tech company. I didn’t want to have to go on an adventure, but here I am, about to take a risky journey to find my family. I miss them a lot. I don’t even know if I will get back to them.
I take a few more steps before realizing I might fall into the construction and I rush myself to hide behind a stilt so that the high tech company can’t see me. I can’t trust them, in fact, I can’t trust anybody anymore. I wish I could, but I need to keep running. I dash over to the pond I used to go with my parents to and shed a little tear remembering all of my adventures there. I really did enjoy the place, but it’s gone now. I don’t think I’ll be able to come back. I stumble and trip over a rock after jogging for a bit, and someone grabs my hand.
You’ll probably never have the chance to read this, since comments always flood into your profile, but here are five reasons why I appreciate you Zinnea

You make amazing and incredible games.
You always know just how to help everyone with your project tutorials and the tutorials you do on YouTube.
You like the Harry Potter series… I mean I’m a huge fan of it myself lol.
You’re super inspiring, and your projects are incredible!
You take time to work on your projects and make them the best that they can be.
My character Vivianne Beverly is your average girl who’s always thought her life was perfect, until the government burnt her house down. It scared her and she’s even more nervous about her parents that went missing. This really motivated her to go on a mission to find them again, and she’s deeply worried about what could be in store for her. She’s not one to usually do much, so she doesn’t really ever get motivated by things to do other things besides relaxing in her house, although she has been very creative before by painting paintings of her family, so sometimes painting becomes a motive of her own. She gets very anxious though when she’s lost something, or she’s alone.
She hates being alone, like absolutely 100 percent hates it. She’ll freak out and panic, and she never seems to know just what to do. Vivianne usually finds her happy place with her family or her friends, but she’s not one to do too much. If she’s alone for more than an hour, she can’t stand it and will hyperventilate sometimes, so she usually has just one parent always with her to keep her calm. She’s slowly overcoming this fear though, with having to go on adventure to find her parents, which I guess is in some way slightly helping her be more independent by herself.

Prompt from the amazing Mystery Cabin Camper, @Shadowssong: A cat bites one of the main characters, what do the main characters do to the cat?
A cat stealthily bounces off of the stilts above my head on the construction site. I watch carefully as the cat rushes off of them and scrambles on down to my feet, biting me as I almost scream from surprise. I try not to though, so that the people can’t hear, as I wince through the pain of it. “Shoo!” I whisper quietly, while the cat hobbles off.
I stared down into the construction site quickly making sure they didn’t see me, but unfortunately, one did, so I snapped my head around breathing heavily. He was there, he saw me. Wait, but it was that guy I saw before. He seemed kind. If he comes up to me, everything should work out fine, everything should be fine.
I hear stomping footsteps come close and I close my eyes trying to imagine that nothing is there, nothing wants to hurt me. The footsteps stop, and I open my eyelids only to glance up into the creepy dude wearing the tuxedo’s eyes and I gulp. “What were you doing here?” he asks eerily. “Oh I was just looking at the construction that was coming along here, it seems to really be going along,” I chuckle awkwardly. “No, your not,” he states clearly.
I back away slowly, then sprint off into a run screaming my head off. I yell over to him, “Stop! Go away!”
-I drank water
-Also I think the government counts as a dystopian fantasy since it’s an evil one, and this is in a fantasy world.
As I sprint away I start shedding some tears. I remember my parents, and how we would take trips to so many places together. I remember going to the Strawfang Hills, and the Deerwood Forest with them, and how much fun we would have together. Why can’t I just go back to those times, those moments? Why does our government have to be so cruel and so evil? I miss those moments we used to have, and I wish we could have them again.
I miss going down to the pond nearby the construction site, I miss our trips into the forests of our planet, and most of all, I miss my parents. The ones I would do pretty much everything with. They’re somewhere in this world now, and I really have to find them, even if I keep crying, I’ve got to hold a strong outer appearance. If I don’t, I might lose them forever. I’m guessing that the high tech company I saw before at the construction site knows what’s up, but they don’t seem trustworthy enough in the sense that I could ask them if they know anything. They really seem up to something though, since they were talking to me.
I wish I could just go back to the life I was used to. It wasn’t perfect, but it felt like all I ever needed, all I ever wanted. All I want to do right now is run away from everyone and everything and stay with my awesome parents. Why does the world have to be so cruel?
(262 words)
I don't know what else I can do to find my parents. I mean, I need to go and find them, they mean everything to me. I need to bring them back to me, but I just don’t know how yet. I stroll my fingers the bars of a fence while running past them to get to the edge of my town, a place I’ve only ever once been to before. Once I step foot over our town’s borders, who knows if I’ll ever find a way back?
I wipe away a few tears as they stroll down my cheeks, then step one foot over the boundary. I glance back at my village, the familiar water tower that looks like it’s leaning, to the park I used to play with my best friends in. “Goodbye,” I say sadly as I step away from everything I love. Even if I can’t find my parents, I have to at least try to find them. They’re probably worried sick about me, wherever they are. I feel like they are honestly the only people who really get me out of bed in the morning, literally and figuratively. I’ve got to find them, and I will stop at nothing till I do.
(205 words)
I stop abruptly after wandering outside of my town for a while. The rolling, grassy hills seem oddly familiar to me, but then I trip and gasp for breath. I wake up after a few hours, but I can’t seem to recognize anyone in the room I’m now in. There are two figures, one in a black tuxedo suit and a red tie, and another in a grey dress that kind of resembles me in some way. I don’t know who these people are, and oddly I don’t want to jog away, because they give off a warm energy, like something familiar. I can’t seem to remember anything about myself for some weird reason though. What happened to me?
“Oh sweetheart, are you awake now? You doing okay?” the woman says kindly. “Who are you?” I ask, super confused. Tears start pouring out of her eyes, and the same happens to the man.
“I’m sorry, look, I didn’t means to offend any of you. What’s wrong?” I say bewildered. They just stare at me grievously, then squeak, “Hey, you may not remember us because I think you have amnesia. We’re your mother and father, though. Your Vivianne Beverly, our little daughter.”
I gape at them in a befuddled expression. “No,” I exclaim trailing off. My gaze pops over to my bedside table. Engraved in the front cover of a journal on the table is the name, Ashley B, imprinted on the cover. I turn my attention back to the people standing right in front of me and answer, “My name is Ashley B.” The woman chuckles slightly, “No, that’s my name. Your name is Vivianne Beverly.”
I take a deep breath and inspect the room I’m in. It’s most definitely a hospital, and it seems kind of familiar to me. The white concrete walls, and the little green plant in the corner of the room seem memorable. A light blue door right behind the people in front of me is also there, and so is a window to my right, with gorgeous natural sunlight streaming in. They both seem strangely intimate.
“Where am I?” I carefully question. They both scan each other before answering my question. Then the man in the tuxedo answers, “You’re in our hospital. We found you unconscious in the Strawfang Hills. I mean, I don’t think you remember, but we took you here once to our hospital here. We’re the new heads of the offices here.”
I zap my head around to study the outside of the window. Memories begin flooding back into my head. I glance back to the people in front of my bed which of who I’m beginning to remember. “Mommy and Daddy?” I assume as they start smiling. “Yes?” they both say at the time.
“We need to leave this area. There was this evil government coming after me and,” they cut me off. “Evil government? Oh, you must’ve thought they were evil. No, they’re not evil, they gave us our job after all,” my mother says. I don’t understand this. “Then, why were they calling me their ‘chosen one’?” I press on.
My dad laughs lightly, “Oh, it’s just a little bit of a joke going on between my friend and I. Nothing too big of a deal, but why didn’t you follow them? They were trying to lead you back to us you know, but apparently it seems you found us on your own.” I beam, “Yeah, I guess I did. I mean, mom did always say I’d find a way back to you guys eventually if I ever got lost. Wait, was this all some sort of test?”
They grin, “Yes.” I have one more question though that I’ve been waiting to ask, “Wait, but why did you let them burn down our house?” My mom gazes at me then states while giggling, “Now that is top secret.”

DD)Part 2: Restaurant Review

He has a strong singing voice, this is a more secret talent though, (don’t tell him I mentioned this, although I’ll be reading this to him so, yeah lol).
-Read for 10 straight minutes like it said

-I took a nap lol

I wake up on a nice enough morning and go meet my sister. It seemed like a very ordinary day, but I could say without a doubt that even the most ordinary days could turn around. The Queen Of Renderity, who had come to the celebration last night, was nowhere to be found! How dare she leave without giving us a present? It’s not that I wanted the present, it was just so that she had promised to give us one.
As I was walking down the corridor, boiling with rage, I saw the Queen of Renderity. She was smiling at me. “Thinking about the present, my dear? I shall guide you to it.”
I perked up with excitement. “Oh? Do tell.”
“Go outside the castle towards the ruins. There is a hole there. It’s buried there.”
I nodded and ran outside, searching for the hole in the ruins. Just when I found it and climbed inside it, there was a noise. The Queen Of Renderity was standing over me. She had blocked the hole, forbidding me from coming out. I suddenly felt a dizziness in my head.
I don’t know what happened after that, but when I woke up again, I saw my sister and the Queen arguing about something. They were shooting magic at each other. Fortunately, the hole was open now and I climbed out. I snuck away. I had to do something. My kingdom had been warred. Not knowing what to do, I decided to seek the help of the Moon Queen, who lived far away, but it was worth a shot. I hastily wrote my sister a note and went to the ancient doorway that separated our kingdom from outer space. It was awfully hard but I managed it.
Now that I was in outer space, I realized how dangerous it was. There was a pathway to walk on, but it was steep and hard to walk on. It was getting harder to breathe with every step I took, and there I saw the thing that could save me: a blue and green planet. Even though I didn’t mean to land there, here I was, all alone on the streets of this strange planet.
As I was walking down the corridor, boiling with rage, I saw the Queen of Renderity. She was smiling at me. “Thinking about the present, my dear? I shall guide you to it.”
