Why does this not count as private messaging?

Source: Paper Minecraft v11.6 (Minecraft 2D) and Paint with Donald Trump

So my question is, why are projects that save text or images like this allowed when other things that could be used as private messaging are discouraged on the forums? Because it seems like if we use the same logic here, the Paper Minecraft save codes can also lead to people privately communicating through signs and ST wouldn't be able to moderate it to their standards.

They aren't. You should probably report these projects.

Also, if the code is posted publicly, then it isn't really private, is it?

I highly doubt that Paper Minecraft, the most liked project on the entire website would be taken down because of this.

And using that logic, cloud variable monitors are public, so the cloud chats aren't really private, are they?

I doubt paper Minecraft would be taken down.

No,I don’t think they are really private.

Pretty soon the cloud data is gone from the recent cloud data, so it is public for a short amount of time, and plus, it isn't reportable. You can report forum posts or comments with bad paper minecraft codes.

That would literally start a war. Not a flame war, an actual war. /j

The bad Paper Minecraft codes are just as secretive as the cloud data. Nobody is going to look through almost 6,000 posts on a save code topic and roam through the world to see if there are any swear words or private information.

Of course they wouldn't, but that doesn't make it private messaging, does it?

Debatable. Unshared projects can still be considered private messaging because of how rare it would be to stumble across a project used for those purposes, but the links to those are public. I don't see why this isn't any different.

in what way are they being saved? haven't checked paper minecraft, but paint with donald trump merely uses save codes. paper minecraft doesn't seem to use cloud variables. so there's no cloud chat going on in either project.

projects using save codes, like level editors, have been historically allowed. if these projects are not allowed, then any project which uses save codes for level editors wouldn't be allowed. the scratch team actually can moderate inappropriate save codes by inserting them into the project. if it's obvious that two users are private messaging through such a system, action could be taken as well.

why would you report those projects? it's not the project creator's fault if someone wants to make and share inappropriate stuff using it.

The ST has taken down projects for this, right? Such as TimMcCool’s Blocky, or was that mass reported?

I think it was mass reported.

why would someone want to create a private messaging system and then not use it?

also intent somewhat matters. if you make a chat project or share private messaging links … it's clear that you're interested in privately messaging someone. that's against the community guidelines. but if you make a level editor, the purpose of that is not to share personal information. if it is clear that the project creator intended for it to be used for personal communication, or is encouraging it, then it would likely not be allowed despite the fact that it's “just a level editor.”
