and I need a new update. Scratch needs to modify their

set pitch effect to ()

block. Whenever you change the pitch, you also change the speed. I need help on how to avoid the speed and just make my pitch higher, as if no speed was changed. Can anyone help me with this?

It's nearly impossible unless you want a low quality sound… Also it'll be very slow.

The reason is because when you turn the pitch effect up, it just changes the speed. Changing the speed affects the pitch because the lengths between the waves shortens also. Now… if you want to have just pitch, then the computer needs to do a lot of maths. More specifically, the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). That way, you can preserve the waves and speed it up.

There are plenty of amazing sound websites to help you with this. Just download the finished sound from the website and upload it to Scratch.

That's what I've heard as well. But I was doing some sound editing on a website called Soundtrap, and they have a pitch-changing feature that did not change the speed of the audio file. From what I could tell, the quality of the sound had not decreased. Maybe I just didn't notice it?

if they're gonna modify the pitch block, shouldnt they make an entirely new block for it and simply rename the current one as speed? since if this were to be a complete modification of the current block, it'd break a lot of projects containing music in them i'd believe

I found another website called AudioSpeedChanger.com and you can change the pitch by any amount you want, positively or negatively.

you could use audacity to change the pitches because it works pretty well

As many have stated before, there are plenty of apps and websites that you can use to edit your audio. I don't think we necessarily need to change the block for that reason

How do you change the speed but get the pitch back to normal? I'm trying to make it how I heard it back then, and it's high pitched.
