Chromebooks aren't supported for Scratch. Using a Chromebook for Scratch may result in glitches, crashes, and bugs.

I wouldn't say Chromebooks are unsupported with Scratch since a large chunk of people who use Scratch are doing it on Chromebooks because that's what their school's using, but rather that Chromebooks (and a lot of phones and tablets) don't handle Scratch 3 very well due to how resource intensive the program is.

It usually works, even on really big files and games. It supports imports up to 10 MB. I think I just did an infinite loop.

Yeah it works with imported files up to 10 MB because that's the asset limit.
Anyway, are you able to share the project to see if we can get the project to freeze for us, or is the project set up in a way that you can't save the thing that freezes for whatever reason?

Yeah - froze for me - My browser / operating system: MacOS Macintosh X 10.13.6, Chrome 78.0.3904.70
I decided to do some testing by first removing all scripts that contained cloning and then tested each of those separately - “the moovy bits” and “the other things” ran fine on their own and together as well. The problematic sprite is the paddle sprite since every clone of itself is trying to create a copy of itself, causing the project to crash. The part of the clone script that created clones within itself I decided to remove and the project does run quite smoothly.
