Why do we even use the forums?

When some one suggests something good and everybody supports it this is what happens.
It becomes an old post and ST never add it because they can't find it.

My question is, why do we give suggestions when we know it wont be added?

It helps the site become stronger and better. ST adds some suggestions there.

The ST does listen to the suggestions, they are just quite busy. You would be busy if you ran a website with several million users!

Here is a quote from Paddle2See on why the Suggestions forum is in place (even though the suggestions suggested there might not be implemented):

Paddle2See wrote:

I think that the Suggestions forum serves a valuable purpose whether we read every suggestion or not. It lets people exercise their creativity on Scratch itself - and experiment (mentally) with some of the ramifications of their ideas. We've gotten a number of good ideas from the Suggestions forum - and even the ones we don't implement give us a feeling for what is causing aggravation in the Community - very helpful!
Hopefully that helped.

Yep. The ST wouldn't just put it there for no reason.

What difference does it make if everybody or nobody supports a good suggestion? The answer is there is none. Supporters don't mean a thing.

ease off the cynicism. not every suggestion makes it to the big guys because of these factors: possibility, time, labor, morality, and consequence.

possibility: no, you cannot have a 1337 goat-scoping derpsine wave function. get real.

time: will it take a few seconds to add, or a few years? not everyone is patient, even those on the Scratch Team

labor: does it require minimal knowledge of coding, or would it require hiring an elitist programmer with over 300 confirmed degrees in computer science?

morality: does it affect other cultures, religions, races, genders, etc? is it necessary for good cause?

consequence: will the community as a whole not burn down in flames when it is added/removed? will people actually make use of it or reject it?

if a suggestion can satisfy all those conditions in a way that does not interfere with the CGs, then thumbs-up pat-on-the-back congratulations you are a true winner.

As a long time Scratcher, I have found new meaning to the name “Scratch”: for me, it means to “scratch that itch”, to come back again and again to realize new ideas in this toy language, even when I'm capable of creating my projects in real programming languages years later. It's a friend that helped me to pursue programming and get me to enjoy its fruit. I'm certain many others who have walked this path as well have grown fond of its importance in their life.
