Wanna look at random cool stuff that came out of nowhere but Idk what to use them for but don't wanna lose them? Idc about your reply and here:
They saw everyone in black and white. You saw them in shades of gray.
They claimed your mind belongs to you. What if they were wrong?
Yeah only two but whatever

Also allow me to do a smol ramble right here:
TLLH, CAN YOU BE A LITTLE LESS SPARING IN NAME INFORMATION???
It's a very good show but I'd have to make up so much stuff D:
Let's see, the people who don't have last names:
As for the people who don't have first names:
And we have absolutely no information about the maiden names of married characters (Jeanne, Violette, Lucy, Mrs. Guibert)
WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO WORK WITH THEN, HUH??
I have a bajillion headcanons about this show (mostly for the older generation because we really don't know much about them) but without names this will be very awkward
Here are a few examples. For one, I have an idea for a fanfic set in the early 1900s, about Marcel's and Fernand's grandpas and René (who are in their early 20s) doing cool stuff; Emilie are going to be included, and so are Jeanne and Mr. Herpin (but they'll be younger than the other four characters). But, like, I need namesssssssssssssssssssssss. A lot of names. Sure, of course I can just not mention them, but it'll for sure be quite awkward if they just randomly call Herpin by his last name while everyone goes by their first names. And if I was ever going to write a marriage scene between two certain characters (take a guess at who they would be :3) IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLY WEIRD AND AWKWARD (I don't think I ever will write it, and I don't think I'll post it here, but still). Perhaps I can do a few hours' research to determine a possible last name based on name origin/location, but that would be too tiring; I just don't have the time or energy to be that precise.
So yeah. I need canon names :<
alright that's it you can leave now
(I edited this like 5 times lol)
TLLH, CAN YOU BE A LITTLE LESS SPARING IN NAME INFORMATION???
It's a very good show but I'd have to make up so much stuff D:
Let's see, the people who don't have last names:
- Lily (she's literally a major character and she doesn't have a stated last name?!)
- Baptiste (in the French dub it's Jean-Baptiste, so I'm pretty sure that's his first name!)
- The grandparents, René and Emilie (because they're the siblings' maternal grandparents, after all)
- Otto and Hans
- Durand (but then it could be his last name instead of first name lol, I don't really know)
- Antoine & Henri
As for the people who don't have first names:
- Mr. Herpin
- Mr. Tissier
- Mr. Morteau (but he's dead anyway so it makes sense)
- The Guibert parents
- Colonel von Krieger (his name is widely accepted to be “Erich” by the fandom, but it was never stated in the show!)
- Lieutenant Douglas
And we have absolutely no information about the maiden names of married characters (Jeanne, Violette, Lucy, Mrs. Guibert)

Seas of Heaven
A shard of ice
Among the clouds, foams
Of the seas of heaven
It bobs gently
On the lapping waves
As sharp as the whitecaps are
Soft, carefree, idyllic
Further behind
A tempest looms
But our seafaring moon
Is unafraid
Of the dangers
Now dull in memory
Breezes sweep the waves,
Telling them to be wild
But the misty moon always stay
Transfixed in place
Even as the silent white
Glides over the blue
A poem that I wrote on my own initiative, instead of for school ^w^ you'll see the similarity to my SWC daily! This feels incomplete for some reason so maybe I'll add another stanzaThe moon
A shard of ice
Among the clouds, foams
Of the seas of heaven
It bobs gently
On the lapping waves
As sharp as the whitecaps are
Soft, carefree, idyllic
Further behind
A tempest looms
But our seafaring moon
Is unafraid
Of the dangers
Now dull in memory
Breezes sweep the waves,
Telling them to be wild
But the misty moon always stay
Transfixed in place
Even as the silent white
Glides over the blue

To the Soldiers of the Second War
To the soldiers of the Second War,
The men, women, and children
Who had donned uniforms
And seen smoke and blood
I ask of you your stories
What do you stand for?
Are your cause and your country, the flames
That course through your veins?
Or the sun that burns over your river,
Drying up and life and dreams forever?
Is it both hatred and your worth
A tragic but brilliant burst of fireworks?
Where is your past,
The flicker of yesterday?
Too fragile to last,
The world’s troubles and strains
Is it long gone, lost behind you?
Or a shadow kept away from sight,
One day ready to jump back to life?
When did you slip between,
The illusions of war you have seen?
The promise of pride and glory
Nothing but a story
Or you never did buy into the ideal?
Yet perhaps honor and courage are not lost,
And you saw their shining examples as you fought
Today's world seeks to learn your stories,
Preserve your memories, of
A history not so far behind the present
Because we must remember the lessons
Of brutality and oppression, of kindness and perseverance
Though death had claimed many at last
You rise again in your past
Forever you live on
Of course, this is Poem I wrote for school #4 lol

My Dreams
I dreamed of a towering tree,
A kaleidoscope of verdant leaves
I dreamed of an icy, clear landscape,
With a brilliantly blue sky and soaring alps
Minty grass stretching around in all directions
I dreamed that I was in a little blue train
Lulled to sleep within sleep by its clicking wheels
And I dreamed that I was on a flight
To some great destination
Waking up was such a disappointment
I dreamed, often,
That I would miss my classes
Or get a disappointing grade
The feeling of agitation plagued me
Even when I was awake
I had scary dreams, too.
One, two, three, maybe four zombie apocalypses
Murderers with chainsaws breaking in through the back door
Blood splattered on the other side of a translucent window
Dark, musty rooms with an aura of death
My cat, turned to mincemeat by an escalator
A shadowy underground parking lot.
But there was a great deal more
Of entertaining dreams
I dreamed about my favorite characters from books and shows,
Walking and talking and laughing and flying
At beaches and carnivals and grassy green hills
I dreamed about a casting call for a musical
I dreamed about video games,
(Though I do not play them in real life, the waking world)
I dreamed about a long highway trip,
To some American midwest state that did not exist.
I had all these dreams and more
Some recorded
Others lost to memory
But all dreams are the
Subconscious stories of the mind,
After all.
Yes, these are all real dreams that I had xD
Again, this is the Poem I wrote for school #5 lol

Poem I wrote for school #6 lol
They were not perfect,
But they were the innocent
And they are finally dead
Free from the world
Lit by fire and brimstone
Their own sparks of life
Are extinguished.
Some have been slowly dimming,
Others went out with a sudden scream,
At the swordtips of their tormentors.
The guilty stand free,
while
the
innocent
burn.
Now, their spirits aglow,
The poor souls shall suffer no more
All will be judged fairly
In death.
This has no real name yet, but I think I might expand on this for a writing comp entry or a longer poem! I actually thought that it applies pretty well to WWII
They were not perfect,
But they were the innocent
And they are finally dead
Free from the world
Lit by fire and brimstone
Their own sparks of life
Are extinguished.

Fine, #6 was mediocre, but #5? Literally it just sounds… weird? Cringey? I just don’t like it.
For #6, the words just… seems weird.
Yeah, awesome critique, right? /sar

Two random stanzas :>>>
Suffering, pain, loss of family and friends
When will this cruelty ever end?
Yet I know that no matter what they do
There is some unbreakable truth
Now past, present, and future are entwined
To fate's power and will's mind
And when one day we finally break the cycle
The secrets of the universe will be thus revealed
Suffering, pain, loss of family and friends
When will this cruelty ever end?
Yet I know that no matter what they do

Poem I wrote for school #7 lol
madness
all madness
the humans long gone,
the soul of the earth
takes its revenge
veins of ruins of past buildings
straining to hold up
their weight
and for a brief moment,
the calamity forgotten,
the rubble holds
the debris suspends in midair
an eerie depiction
of tranquility
faint cyan light glows
from below
growing brighter
by the second
two balloons,
one red, one yellow,
reach for the tiny scrap of sky
still unobscured by the storms of dust
yet the next second
sky vanishes
and
everything
shatters
Based off this painting by Zdzisław Beksiński:
madness
all madness
the humans long gone,
the soul of the earth
takes its revenge
veins of ruins of past buildings
straining to hold up
their weight
and for a brief moment,
the calamity forgotten,
the rubble holds
the debris suspends in midair
an eerie depiction
of tranquility
faint cyan light glows
from below
growing brighter
by the second
two balloons,
one red, one yellow,
reach for the tiny scrap of sky
still unobscured by the storms of dust

That was a bad poem. It was confusing in the middle, although I guess that's how poems work. You shouldn't have done it in that style without capitalization. I just don't think it's good for college? Idk. Also, the last verse is weird. I don't like the style of one word per sentence thing.

Sandy's Thread (for writing, history, and other stuff)
sigh this thread still reeks of inactivitea
also i have some pretty cringey stuff in here that I'm too lazy to remove, so they'll just torment me forever.
But anyways, some updates on my summer plans, since I really can't think of anything else to put.
In General
For irl stuff, I have two summer classes (Spanish and calculus) which I'm feeling pretty excited about, mostly due to the fact that the image of me traipsing around going to classes and doing homework in the bright summer sun is just appealing for some inexplicable reason ;D hopefully I get good grades because I don't want to add an extra unit next semester :0
I also have a forensic science camp irl as well! It's on the East Coast and is taught by this super famous Chinese detective. I have pretty much no experience in the subject (except for maybe watching an occasional Monk episode in the past 8 months or reading the first two Sherlock Holmes books in the past 3) but hopefully I won't be too bad at it :')
Of course, I'm also going to be a first-time camper in SAC and a coleader in Fairy Tales for SWC!
History
Unlike in the past school year, when I've made quite a few to-do lists for my history project, during the summer I'll just chill and do whatever I want. Well, my main topics of focus will include not just WWII but also WWI. More related elaboration in the categories below!
Writing
I'm planning to work on some fanfics and the SWC comp entries, as well as the Rommel essay and reworking The Journey We Must Take during the summer.
There are just two things I'm worried about for the latter two projects.
The first is that they'll take a lot of effort and skill to do – both will require a lot of research, of course, and as for TJWMT I just don't know if I'm good enough with creative writing to improve it much. There are a lot of other things I'll have to do in the summer, as covered in this post, and I'll just have to figure out a good balance between refining my research and writing, and working on my other equally (if not more so) important things.
The second is that both of them might be a bit too much for Scratch. TJWMT has the Holocaust as a main plot element, and Rommel… is arguably a Nazi (which is the topic of debate in my essay). That should be pretty self-explanatory, I hope.
If you happen to be seeing this, could you please give me a bit of help? Just some suggestions on what I should do would work wonderfully ^^'
But on a brighter note, I've got pretty good ideas for the comp entries! I'm going to be taking a break from historical (non)fiction for a while, since I just want to try other genres more. I'll still finish up some fanfics I have, though
Art/Animation
Not much to say here; I'm planning to join SAC and do some activities. I'm also working on a PMV of Seven Pillars of Wisdom, and I'll share a WIP of that when I get past my initial planning stage!
Reading/Watching
So, for reading, I have two books on my list this summer: They Went Left and They Called Us Enemy. Both were recommended to me on Scratch, and I'm really excited to read them. I'm also going to be reading the rest of Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales – as of today I've read four out of the 10-11 books of the series! I've also found some interesting and informative WWI books in the children's section of my library, and I borrowed the first two books of an eight-book series, The Grolier Library of World War I. Finally, I'm planning to read the Sherlock Holmes stories as well!
As for watching stuff, I'm just going to go through a season or two of Monk, and watch some history stuff (mostly TimeGhost history channels and Sabaton History but also some of my other favorites, like Simple History). That should be pretty much all.
Since I realized that one of the NHHT books (Trenches, Treaties, Mud and Blood) is about WWI, and I'm going to be reading the entirety of the aforementioned WWI nonfiction series, and counting in the fact that the history channels I watch include a good deal of WWI content… I decided that I'll also focus on that as a topic in addition to WWII.
Others
I might continue work on Hidden Destiny. Maybe. I mean, I started that nearly four years ago and I'm still not finished?!?!
So that's all! I know that these plans are too ambitious and I'm probably going to fail half of them, but oh well, it still might be nice to have big plans.

Also, it's Memorial Day in some timezones already!
Unfortunately I haven't made anything for this day
…
…but you certainly can have some lyrics:
Fallen in war
We belong to history
Fallen in war
Sleep six feet below
Hearts of the brave
Cannot bring me back to life
Fallen in war
Still brothers in arms
“Purple Heart” by Sabaton (Primo Victoria, 2007)
