WHY WE NEED THIS

Fellas, we have a major problem on our hands. We're losing Scratchers to TikTok, because nowadays, all the youth do is watch TikTok! As you can see by this incredibly accurate Google Trends graph, TikTok has left Scratch in the dust in popularity.



We have to do something about this! Well, I have an idea on what Scratch can do. YouTube was also in this situation, when it saw it was losing viewers to TikTok. So what did they do? They made YouTube Shorts! (And we all know how much of a massive success for YouTube that was!)

SCRATCH SHORTS

That's why I suggest the Scratch Team implements a new feature called Scratch Shorts that will appear in the header. Here's a mock-up I made (Thanks, Scratch Avocados!):



When clicking on the Shorts button, you will be taken to a page where random Scratch projects start playing, however the projects are forcefully stretched to be made in a 9:16 aspect ratio. (Because nowadays the youth can only watch vertical videos!) In addition, if the project runs the

block the project will automatically restart and run all

blocks again. If the stop all block never runs then the project will forcefully run it when 60 seconds pass. Also, there is no longer any stop sign button or green flag button, however, there is a comment, love, favorite, and follow button on the bottom and the description and comments are on the side. There would also be an icon of the creator's profile picture which you can click on to get taken to their profile. Finally, there would also be two arrows on the top and bottom of the screen to go to another random project. Here's a mock-up:



(By the way, that project is actually a real random project I found lol)

SCRATCH SHORTS SHORTS

Now, obviously, some projects may not work well in this format. That's why we would need to encourage people to make more projects specifically meant for Scratch Shorts. How do we do that? Why, with Scratch Shorts Shorts of course!



The Scratch Team will produce these amazing shorts and give them away to Scratchers who make projects specifically for Scratch Shorts. I mean, who wouldn't want to have Scratch Shorts Shorts after seeing that image? People could also buy Scratch Shorts Shorts for the low price of $1,850 in Scratch's merch store which could raise funds for the Scratch Team to develop Scratch Shorts.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, I believe it is vital for the Scratch Team to implement my suggestions so we can overtake TikTok. Let's make Scratch Shorts (and Scratch Shorts Shorts) a reality!

Shall the scratch shorts be made from 1% Scratch Cat hair, and then the rest from recycled garbage as that can cause some eco friendly marketing techniques?

I love how natural it looks when we stretch a scratch project forcefully into 9:16 aspect ratio. This is how scratch projects were meant to be displayed. I can foresee the future trend graphs already.

Great idea, the youth have incredibly short attention spans nowadays. The content must be continuously flowing forever!
