What are your first impressions?
My initial impression is that it is WAY more modern looking and streamlined! For some reason, though, the last two project boxes (like what the community is loving, etc…) are coming up in German??? It didn't happen when I came on before a week or so ago, so it's probably just a minor detail someone overlooked…anyway, it's a huge improvement from the old site. Keep up the good work

The first thing I did was check out the online editor. It's okay, but the paint editor is difficult to use. You can't move it so it's stuck in the side, and I don't like it. I mean, it's overall a lot better, but that just really sets me off. I'm an arty person. I love using the editor, but this… I just can't like it.
Something else that frustrated me is that I can't find the galleries/studios. I'm a major rper, so this is like taking away my computer. I know, it'll probably be fixed, but it is just frustrating!
One question: will I come to check my messages and be like “HOLY CRUD! 2.0!” or will you tell us when it happens. And PLEASE don't go down a lot before the big switch! I would die!

Don't worry - we'll give plenty of warning! The new site will be in open beta the 28th of this month.
re: rping - we hope to make it easier to find studios soon, with the addition of an updated “explore” page. We could really use more feedback on studio functionality from rpg'ers like you!
re: Paint editor - we're still working on that, thanks for the feedback!

What are your first impressions?
The new forums look and feel professional, and work well. Overall, the site looks great. When it is done, and all the features that have not quite been finished yet are finished, it will be a major improvement over the old one.
The paint editor is a bit confusing, and some features are missing or broken. Where are the flip buttons? and why can't I use the bucket-fill with the transparency “color?” I understand that this is a work in progress, but please try to avoid the situation in which I would open up the graphic in scratch 1.4 to tweak it and then save it and upload back into 2.0.
When using the project editor, I feel a frustrating feeling of lack of control: nothing works the way I expect it to, and bugs are frequent. Sometimes the player would crash or lag for extended amounts of time. This is as opposed to the squeak version where I have a feeling of a deep understanding and control. A major drawback of flash is the lack of right click, although I did find myself shift-clicking in the squeak version after frequent alpha use. Some of the frustration went away over time, as I got used to the alpha's idiosyncrasies. I still don't understand why the features that were added could not have been added in squeak.

I would love to uh
give you a detailed analysis of your styled new look
but all I can currently say as my first impression is that I annoyingly have an avatar
<- over there
and must now actually worry about what my avatar is
and avoid it from remaining as a tacoface
why can't we separate the forum one from the mainsite one

soupoftomatoYa know, in most cases it'd make sense to synchronize the two avatars. I mean, it's just cleaner.

I, as most people, were really excited about cloud variables. I know they were out, and working in Alpha, but what are the updates with them as of now? When will they be back? Is there a storage limit still? What are some upcoming features?
Also, I had another question. Will features continue to be added unlike scratch 1.4?

Hrm, well, it seems too…white. Kinda hurts my eyes abit, but thats fine. Also, the vector graphics make it hard to do detailed spriting like 1.4. We should have a bitmap option aswell.

What were your initial series of actions on the prototype?
First I checked out some projects. Then my notifications. I then trying to make a project on the site but I need more practice.
* What did you find confusing or frustrating?
I found the project creator quite confusing, most likely because I have no experience with it.
* What features did you like?
I like the new web design, it looks wonderful!

What are your first impressions?
Hello everyone. This is my first time using Scratch in over two years, I came back just to try out Scratch 2.0. It is looking great so far!
I noticed that you're using Bootstrap
It's amazing how often I see it, ever since I first heard of it…
Personally I really like cloning and custom blocks. In fact, those and the upcoming cloud variables are the only reason I came back to Scratch. I just wish that you could make operator blocks.
I think that the site and especially the editor need a bit of polish. Somehow they look less friendly than the older versions. One thing that I love about Scratch 1.4 is how easy it is on the eyes, and how obvious it is where everything is, and what you can do. It just looks so inviting. The blocks especially need some fixing up. Still, I know the site will continue to improve

My first impression was “Oh **** why is the paint editor so messed up”. The new paint editor is AWFUL. I really only like pixel editors (which I feel are my best way of making video game art) For me the new editor is impossible to use to draw anything but weird blobs. PLEASE add pixel drawing capabilities at the same time as vector graphics. If this isn't fixed it may be the thing which makes me quite Scratch.

Honestly, I really hate the sprite paint editor. It's really buggy and more complicated to use than the 1.4 paint editor. I hope it gets improved soon. I'm sorry to complain.

I like Scratch 2.0 very much, especially the idea of the clone functionality. But I'd really like to have the possibility to access each clone's variables like it's position. Definitely good work, keep up!

well… i really like how you guys steped up the resolution as is very clearly shown in Interlaced simplex noise by nxIII
although i dislike the continued inability to put a variable inside of the “when this key pressed” block this means that i still can't make a key mapping script for custom controls
but i like it so far!
