Access to other peoples backpacks

Many have also stated there could be a violation of privacy. However, this could be mitigated by giving you a choice: make your backpack public, or not. The default would be that the backpack is private. This would also help in not spoiling future projects. Users can choose to share their backpacks, but if they do, it must not violate the Community Guidelines. If it is private it can, similar to unshared projects. There should, of course, be an option to report Community Guideline-violating assets.
Though, then they can use the api to find the backpacks, even if they are private.

Okay. However many Scratchers may not know about this method, so it could be more of a “hide it as much as possible” thing.

Perhaps a slightly better option would be the ability to share a backpack asset in a separate category on your profile, but that's kind of what projects can already do. If someone wants to share some bit of code they find useful, they'll make a project about it. And if they don't want to share that code, we should respect that.

There is a chance that one can find a no-no thing in someone else's backpack, so I advise against adding that feature

I'm copy/pasting something I wrote on a similar suggestion, and it really fits more here.

Honestly, I think this is creepy, just for privacy's sake. First, I use the backpack to move assets across my personal projects. Assets that are not shared on the Scratch website are not under Scratch's Creative Commons license. Wouldn't this mean that anything I backpack would automatically be under that license, whether I shared it or not? Then, if I did not want to put something private in my backpack, I would have to download it, and that's inconvenient. The backpack is the only way to transport individual scripts. This would defeat the whole purpose of the backpack. Also, it would be too easy for someone to steal something with no proof that they didn't make it, since it could very well come from something unshared. In addition, it would be impossible to credit someone if their name wasn't attached to whatever was in the backpack. Scenario: Someone backpacks a script. Another person sees this script in the backpack and uses it in his own project. How will he know who to give credit to? It's untraceable. Long story short, if this suggestion was implemented, I would never use the backpack again. How would I move individual scripts?

This is kind of an invasion of privacy. People should be able to keep their own things safe. Also, you could steal someone's art and code and the st couldn't track you and make you give credit. It wouldn't work out.

This would be a better idea in my opinion if it would be something every would have to agree to, to prevent stealing code without other's permission.

This is why suggestions like this are better than this.

Pure coincidence. *applause*

No support, this can lead to private messaging and probably other things, plus I don't really want people looking at my backpack because I literally have no idea what's in my backpack at this point I could have hidden one of my deepest secrets in there.
