I'm certainly not happy that they are showing ads - but they are an image hosting site that does pay some attention to what is stored on their site (unlike some other sites). And they don't require an account - which is awesome.
I'm sure it's not every time that it happens, but there are a few ads that open popups that are like ‘Your PC is infected, download this to fix it“. Younger people may not be able to use adblock or understand what they’re downloading won't ”fix" their computer problems.

So, where's this fake updater/virus software ad?

It's most likely different ads on different computers. I keep getting a milk ad that is stuck in my head right now.

EDIT: A new tab opened thanks to tinypic. It was comparing hotels in Las Vegas. And I'm not even in Las Vegas, nor will I go there in the forseeable future.

However, I agree with the concept, that would be bad.

I'm way older than that and I made a mistake as well… I kept clicking on this one ad because I was trying to click in one of the boxes… that may have been what gave me malware… xP

Actually 7 year olds are not that uncommon on scratch. I've seen plenty of 5 year olds as well. They may not be that profilic but there's definitely a lot of them around.

Google says that there has been malware on the site in the past - but nothing is there currently. At least I think that's what they are trying to say - the report is confusing

Yep, the Scratch statistics here show that there are thousands (out of the millions) of Scratchers who are less than 10 years of age.

There is the potential for malware on the site always. Tinypic had infected 8 other websites over the past 90 days. Therefore, others too, including Scratch, might be at risk.

I know, that wasn't the point… 7 year olds will probably not be looking for image hosting sites to host the picture that they want to post on the forums.

Support; per TheHockeyist - also, Tinypic has way too many ads that probably haven't been checked before being put onto the site, putting potential malware onto the homepage, and making it about as bad as adf.ly. Sometimes, clicking “upload file” opens a very suspicious-looking 4dsply ad in a new tab…
