Horizontal Blocks Setting
no support. they're too fat for a PC (mobile devices dosent counts as scratch performance in mobile devices is terrible). plus, some scratcher may have problems with knowing what thing does each block (with the lack of text). and as a final strike, that would cause problems with educational sutff and all those things (it may sound strange, but that why the ST has rejected things like allowing the user to change the color of the blocks or bringing back the 2.0 layout)

Scratchers wont have problems knowing each block if they are used to the vertical blocks. Remember, this option is toggleable.
How would it cause problems with education?

I feel this would make coding confusing, especially for the big custom blocks and booleans like:
<<> and <<> and <<> and <>>>>

im not exactly sure about the rejection of the blocks' colors, but the educational reason has still been unsed by the ST to reject some suggestions. (plus, the ST may have not seen that topic)(it may sound strange, but that why the ST has rejected things like allowing the user to change the color of the blocks)Then why is this topic not closed?
1: too big, they would take a lot of space in the editor compared to the vertical design, and without a clear benefit.no support. they're too fat for a PC (mobile devices dosent counts as scratch performance in mobile devices is terrible). plus, some scratcher may have problems with knowing what thing does each block (with the lack of text). and as a final strike, that would cause problems with educational sutff and all those things (it may sound strange, but that why the ST has rejected things like allowing the user to change the color of the blocks or bringing back the 2.0 layout)What do you mean by “too fat” for a PC?

2: new scratchers (in terms of time using scratch, not in status) could get confused.
3: educators would have problems making their material, as students could be using another block shape style, if you still dont belive me, here's something from TOLORS:
(2.3 Set the editor to look like older versions of Scratchwhile this is clearly not the same suggestion, this same reason could also aply with this one, so yeah.
Some users prefer the look and feel of the Scratch 2.0 editor, and have suggested that the editor look like Scratch 2.0, but still run off of HTML5 like Scratch 3.0 does. However, this would be more complicated for educational and documentation purposes. It could be confusing if someone is trying to learn Scratch from someone who is using a completely different layout of the editor than them.
In addition, the Scratch Team changed the design for a reason: to make it easier, more intuitive, and friendlier for newcomers to use. If you dislike the Scratch 3.0 editor, you can still download the Scratch 1.4 or Scratch 2.0 offline editors.)

I don't support it because
1. #2 of #10, this led me to learn JS and it really helped because I know the functions and could visualize the blocks stacked up.
2. I am not familiar with horizontal blocks because I've never seen them
3. You won't be able to read long scripts and you can't activate giant booleans.
4. Can I see an if, else?
While I don't support it, I really like the mockup, how long did it take you to make it? Please don't take those as an offensive post, but I'm just expressing my thoughts. I encourage you to not give up though!

No support. The layout of Scratch is already perfect. Also, there's a problem in the idea that other people have pointed out:
Say, you wanted to make a super long script for a game. Here's how it would normally look:
In horizontal blocks, it would be too long and confusing.
Say, you wanted to make a super long script for a game. Here's how it would normally look:
when green flag clicked
set [lives v] to (3)
clear
repeat until <(lives) = (3)>
repeat until <touching [mouse-pointer v] ?>
pen down
move (5) steps
point towards [mouse-pointer v]
end
change [lives v] by (-1)
pen up
say [You have lost a life!] for (2) secs
end
say [You lost....] for (2) secs
say [The End] for (2) secs
In horizontal blocks, it would be too long and confusing.
