Just use Unicode like this
Scratch doesn't support most of the Unicode emojis.
But they should, or at least replace the forum emojis with their Unicode counterparts.
They would lose their iconic look
The gradients in the Unicode emojis use a linear gradient but the forums ones use a radial gradient positioned near the left and unicode uses brighter shades of yellow but forums use a bit darker shades.

The appearance of Unicode emojis depends on the operating system and browser.

Oh yeah, some people don't like Microsoft's thick line and other stuff. So they need a consistent set of emojis

That's not really scratch's problem though… other sites support Unicode and they don't take the blame for the emoji's created by other companies

You can simply type
:P
if you don’t want the emoji to show up (if you don’t mean , but you mean :P).

Yes, but it would still be nice to have newer, more modern emojis for people who do not know about this, and for the people who simply like using the actual emojis instead of just the text.

Yes, something more modern would look better.

No support. I like the look of the classic emojis, and they work pretty well, while the modern emojis that people have suggested look too generic. I like the classic so much, sometimes I wish I could use it on other platforms.

Yeah, emojis are kinda weird on the Forums. When I want to type : P, (there is a space in between the letters, btw), it always comes out as . But when I type xD, it doesn't come out as , because you need to type : lol :

Support!
