Looking for Scratchers to share top tips

Hi all,

I am educator and starting next month (December 21) will be my annual 12 Games of Christmas, where I share out some simple tips and advice through a video to my students and share 12 different games I've made (or my students) each day.

This year I am going international and reaching out and sharing to schools across Japan, Hong Kong, UK and the US to name a few.

To be honest most of you scratchers are more talented than me - so I'm looking for some 1 minute ‘top tips’ screen records that I can share alongside my videos as some special guests. So essentially if you record a 1 minute or so video (or just audio) and then share it with me (I'll provide details soon if I have any interest) Then I will share your scratch name/studio and top tip out to at least 10,000, but maybe more, computer science students around the globe.

If you are interested just reply below and I'll get back to you later this week, this is the promo video and this is the website. It isn't really professional, I am not trying to make money, just to get more students programming on Scratch for Computer Science Week and to give people a chance to share their games to a wider audience.

The studio is open now for submissions and the YT channel starts Dec 1st.

Thanks so much everyone for the constant inspiration.

Thank you - let me know what you would like to do for a tip or trick and then I'll make sure no one else does the same one!

Anything you think would be useful - I can see you use the forums a lot - you could do a video about how you can work with people using the forums? Or anything about coding really!

Thanks - let me know if you manage to do a short video!

Hi Ethan,

This sounds great - if you do manage to do a video please post it in here -
(removed by moderator - for safety reasons, please don't post links to Google Drive)
Or send me a link to the video instead if you can share it online.

It will boe either day 4 or 5 of 12 days of Christmas depending on when I recieve it.

Still looking for anyone else who wants to do a 1 minute video of a top Scratch tip and get coverage of their games and studios to over 10,000 students across the world!

This sounds cool! I might make something. But one thing - I don't think that sharing links to Google Drive is allowed. The Scratch Team has said that Google Drive links count as unmoderated chat.

Hi I would like to help I am in 5th grade and would like to maybe do a voice recording about high scores. I have recently been experimenting on a pong project or do I have to do a video?

Thanks all for your help - All of this is really helpful - and thanks for the note about the Drive link - I won't post that again! Scratch blocked my account which was super not helpful trying to get ready for the project - but I now see why it happened. Thanks god286

Basically any recording - it can be voice or screen recording - For safety please don't use your real name or your face showing at any point but I'm sure you knew that. - I guess you could do it on a Scratch project and I could get it from there?

I would love a recording about how to do High Scores - a great tip - cs2920897!

abcde26 - sorry I missed your reply - if you see this before Dec 10th then you still have time to do it I would love to share your ideas!

Very excited to launch in three days - so far we have over 15 schools in the US, 10 schools in Hong Kong and a few schools in Tokyo ready to launch. Plus we normally have a few others that will be involved as well.

sprites at the front layer run scripts first

also if you want the sprite at the back to run scripts first you can add this to the sprite at the front:

when green flag clicked
broadcast [stuff v] and wait
... //scripts you want to run last

and then at the other sprite

when I receive [stuff v]
... //scripts you want to run first

Thanks both - cs2920897 what have you created? I can share any advice you have, if it is a scratch project with a recording that would be okay. If it is a video then maybe you need to share a link to it - if you need help with that let me know.

Thanks for your tip PATSATDAT - I will add that in to my videos probably on day4/5. Let me know if there is project you are most proud of that I can share with everyone
