Zura's SWC Writing

Part 1: 515 words

A deep red flushed Zura’s cheeks.. “Kosmos, how dare you declare me as a five year old!”
Kosmos sighed, facepalming herself. “First of all, have you ever heard of the concept of ‘making a joke’? Secondly, I implied you deaged by five years, not that you were eight years old.”
Zura held the newsletter in front of Kosmos. “First of all, this article by Rosie is saying why children twelve and under should not have social media. I’m looking at you, Kosmos, though, I expected you to be much older.”
“If only that was an honor, Zura. Except, let’s just say, the aura you possess is very,” She hesitated, thinking for a few moments. “Lively and youthful, resembling one of an eight year old.”
“Oh, really-“
“In my short years of living, I have experienced many wonders of the universe. Perhaps I am most known for my brand, The Lost Soul.”
She blinked twice, before taking two glances at Kosmos’ catlike figure. Not only did her language not seem twelve, she also didn’t look twelve. And maybe she could have been younger-
“I admire young philosophers,” Zura examined Kosmos, who drifted off to space. “Young people need to be somewhat curious in the state of the world and it’s essence. But social media for people 40 years and over, why?”
“Perhaps maturity is a factor and safety. But personally, I hope for social media to be a place where people can create genuine connection, rather than some instant-clicking platform people use. Of course, most social media are designed to make money off the poor clients, sadly.”
Zura hesitated. “I mean, people, regardless of age, are prone to endless scrolling. I guarantee you, a large chunk of adults lack your depth of thinking.” She shifted the chairs dark grey chairs from the Inter-cabin lodge. Perhaps Non-fi and other cabins could get along, after all, not all people were the cold-blooded traitors movies had portrayed them were.
She scanned the newsletter again, scrolling to the comments. One originated from the user, honeybreeze, asking if the author was older than twelve. An /lh was applied to the comment, yet people, likely ones having the maturity of a 5-year-old, still managed to turn this into an argument.
“Well, maybe Rosie’s right. Or, both of you are- this comment section proves a lot about people under twelve.”
Kosmos placed her paw under her chin. “Sometimes, people of other cabins can’t get along. Perhaps this is an exception, not a rule, however, I have seen conflicts break out.”
“Odd how I’m not raging over Rosie being a member of Failed- I mean, Fairy Tales.” Zura placed her braid behind her ears. “Anyway, I have some leader business to do, though my connection is weird. Who knows which cabins are attacking me. How reckless and unfortunate we have lost all of our allies. Let’s see how they stand alone.”
“Wait!” Kosmos tugged Zura’s hand. “You can’t go yet!”
“Hm?”
“You’re coming with me. We have some information we need from you.”
Before she could respond, Kosmos swiped a claw across her neck.

Part 2: 355 words

You stare at the piles of stars at night. They cast a faint glow, dotting the sky with its path. In the center, lies the brightest star, even brighter than Polaris.
In the endless void, only stars exist, distanced galaxies away from your presence. Yet you can feel its power in your fingertips. The stars at night- those same stars guided the runaway slaves to Freedom.
Without much effort, a cold breeze brushes your hair. A thought strikes. What, do I, a small and insignificant being, play in the rules of the universe?
Maybe the answer isn’t easy. The journey isn’t tangible in any manner, and only brief glimpses of your future flash in your head. But what is a journey- a quest, without struggle? Sure, you may feel like a traveler stranded in miles of red sand, unaware of your direction. But once you take a step, the desert will reveal a part of itself. As this journey continues, the oasis in the distance will become clearer. You may be blinded to the mirages at first, but you will stand triumphant, despite the dead-ends and wrong-turns.
An elf places her hand on your shoulder. How did she get here all of the sudden? But her quiet, soothing presence calms your creeping heartbeats.
“Is this a fellow wanderer?” For a second, you stop at her piercing gaze. It’s as if she knows you, even though you’ve never met. You simply nod, because words cannot coherently articulate your thoughts.
“I don’t believe we have exchanged conversation before. I’m Elfie.”
She stares into your eyes once more. “Look, wanderer. The quest for meaning may be tough. I have tried endless times, yet no single, clear option will unravel meaning.” She points up to the infinite nebulas out in the distance. “See? In our lifetime, we’ll never reach, nor know the names of all the stars above. But we’ll always be one step closer.”
You sigh, staring into the brightest star. “This seems, all of the sudden, more clear!”
A smile formes and she extends her hand forward. “Would you like to go on a journey with me?”

Part 3: 540 words
“This website better be better than the Space Telescope’s network!”
“Who are you,” You raise your eyebrows at the thin tenor voice speaking in the website. It’s quiet- you thought you heard something, but maybe it wasn’t actually real! You login and begin typing up a welcome post, and near, your cursor hovers over the send button.
This should be posted soon! Yet the blue circle continues to circle over the blank posts. Static scatters over your screen, spreading across the corners. How did this happen-
The thin tenor voice interrupts your thoughts. “Do not post. First of all, this website has horrible diagnostics, and is in fact, not better than the Space Telescope’s network. Secondly, do not sign this invisible contract of tyranny.”
“Tyranny?” The word remains crisp on the tip of your tongue. “Tyranny. What an interesting word. But Zura, Fenn, Pi, they would never be an evil tyrant! And, how am I supposed to trust you, when I don’t even know if you are some malicious person! You could be a wanderer from poetry, aiming to destroy my life!”
You hear the deep sigh in the tenor’s voice. “Look, I don’t have enough time, but just don’t. I’ve helped free the enslaved people, but never knew Zura, Fenn and Pi could pull this off-”
Just then, the voice cuts off and the screen turns a chalk white.
Small, thin blue letters center the screen: We have detected a foriegn entity in our servers, please wait until servers will continue.
“Hey, Arwen- are your servers down?”
An enby with two pigtails raises their eyebrows. “N-no, they seem fine for me.”
“What about you, Kiju?”
Kiju shakes her head. “Nope, mine are also fine”
“Creaty?”
Same response from her.
A person, resembling Arthur trails by your computer. You don’t recognize her as one of the users- she’s probably someone from a different cabin. But maybe she’s Nights, after all, only one person you’ve seen has an Arthur pfp.
“Uhh, are your servers down?” You ask shyly.
She raises an eyebrow. “Give a slice of cake, and I’ll examine it closer. And no.”
You grab her a slice- no hideous intent so far. She gobbles down the slice of cake, burping aggressively. “Okay, now I shall examine the issue.”
She toggles Inspect for a few seconds.
“Well, it seems like Zura only shut servers for you.” She shakes her head. “Zura, you’ve got to do a better job of being more scary. Stop copying Space Telescope’s cliche tactics. I bet if she consulted Fenn or Pi first, her method would have been more creative.”
Your eyes shrink back. “How should I fix it?”
“Oh, uhm sorry. You should go to Honey. She’s probably the one who can fix this- of course, it’s possible Honey won’t be on your side.“
A grimace spreads across your face. “But why?”
Nights shrugs. “You probably shouldn’t trust me, since I’m technically in Fantasy, which is your enemy cabin. But Honey is a co-host and probably knows of the tyranny. She would have done something already, if she could.”
The notion still feels unclear- maybe things will become better soon.
You take your computer to Honey, but just as you enter near, the door shuts.

Part 4: 1060 words
IF YOU’RE HERE FROM STARR SKIP TO HEREEE
She can create worlds out of words and through a spark, destroy cities.

The storyteller sat in her chair, fiddling with her bookshelf. A joyful tune released from her lips, as she rocked back and forth in her wooden chair. What shall I create today?

Even thousands of miles away, she is known as Storyteller Starr. Her scratches, set in stone, remain immortal. The universes she creates with her mind intrigues wanderers from all over the world, from Poetry’s Celestial Grove to Fanfiction’s Library.

By day, she breathes life, by night, she destroys life. Perhaps this is the paradox of fire, able to give life, yet destroy all that remains. Power reigns heavy on its user and this thought runs through Starr. A few stories about fire remain unmolded, unreleased into the real world. Maybe it would be better to keep her secret power aside; for now, everyone living in the small towns can believe Starr is simply a talented writer, nothing less, nothing more.

Night shadows the plants by the garden, a moon casting its glow over the clear lake. She reads a thin newsletter; Alba, the arsonist, caught destroying Salem Territory. The newsletter is blunt, harsh to the arsonist. Yet does it ever consider the turmoil its perpetrator has experienced?

Because Alba would never recklessly harm innocent people.

The newsletter continues with its nonsense. A body of Sini, faint and frozen remains in the photograph.

Sini had been killed by Alba. All of this is nonsense- Alba loved Sini more than anything in the world-

A photograph of Alba is centered on the next page. She kneels on the snow, mouth wide open- from a first glance, one could assume she’s laughing, the first impression created by the writers. But her eyes remain heavy, ashes surrounding her figure. She’s remorseful- broken by the harsh cold.

Does no one realize this? The details in her face-

Red letters caption the photo: the perpetrator, 16, cruelly remarks “At least I had fun.”

“So who wrote this-” she scrolls at the author. “Oh, so the guards of Salem Territory decide to cower and not include their names- oh no! To think you can hide from me, is absolutely foolish.”

The brown parchment began to disintegrate into a black liquid, slowly disappearing from her hands.

Starr, you can’t be so reckless!

Everything you’ve built up will be destroyed! You may be known as the treacherous arsonist, not the immortal storyteller!

But what if, today I decide to have fun? I’m tired of hiding, tired of being passive in everything. My words, the verses I create, the worlds I bring, the characters I bring alive, they hold enough power! I’m tired, tired of holding myself back!

She took her pencil. “I will change everything. Whoever decided this, I shall break your rules of fate.”

She grabbed a loose piece of paper. In a few minutes, letters form words, words form phrases, phrase form sentences. Sini, now awake and alive, is now the same passionate person she was. Rather, is.

This time, Alba is on her mind, and she will reach Alba. The scene is short- a mere 300 words, yet breathes life to a creature once numbed by the guards at the Salem Territory. She, now an alive, well-rounded character.

“Come to me,” Starr whispers to her creation, beginning to take shape. “Find me near the plants which scatter the Fairy Tale night garden.”

-

“All I heard was a voice calling me to this destination,” the former ghost speaks. Her long pony wraps behind her back, trailing behind her baby blue sundress. “I do not recognize you in any shape or form, but I believe we both worry about Alba.“

Starr smiles. “Sini, I’m so glad to see you. I’m Starr, perhaps you recognize me as Storyteller Starr.” I should have added the detail that Sini remembered me, but all is fine.

“Are you the Starr with two ‘r’s, the author who won the writing competition of March 2021?”

“Y-yes,” words are caught in her throat by surprise. “how did you know, Sini?”

Starr stares at the smooth paper placed by her desk, reviewing every detail.

“I remember, a lot.”

Oh, if Sini remembered so many details about Alba, why couldn’t she do the same with the people she’s made memories with?

“Yes,” she sighs. “That’s wonderful. I should tell you that I brought you back to life.”

“Wow, you truly are a god! I knew it- SWC is actually Starr Worshipping Cult!”

Starr chuckles, as she checks both pockets for a piece of parchment. Right, she arsonized it.

“You probably know, Sini, but editors, likely paid by the guards at Salem Territory, wrote an inflammatory piece degrading Alba! She is now detained- we both know this is an injustice cast upon her!”

Sini nods. “You’re right, Starr. Alba would never harm someone innocent. It’s funny how the press can flame Alba so harshly, yet never mention they kept me locked for a year.”

Starr tilted her head sideways. “Do you know why they kept you there? I could always search the stories, but I’d rather hear what you think.”

“I believe it has something to do with Alba’s false accusation made by the Salem Territory guards. They desperately tried to erase her, yet failed, because she had never committed the crimes! So they took me hostage, hoping, Alba would slowly crumble.” A frown spread across Sini’s face, eyes heavy. “And she did crumble.”

Starr grabbed a piece of clay, molding it in her hands. “It’s cruel how the guards forced you to lose your memory. And the cold, it must’ve numbed you, taking away all Alba loved.”

“What ideas do you have to, well, restore Alba? I have some of my own, but all of them are quite tedious and involve high-risk.”

Starr grins. “I don’t think you’ve seen this before.”

A thin, transparent red glow expanded from her hand. She took a piece of clay, and slowly, it began to disintegrate in her hand.

“Wow, you’re amazing… people who arsonize are truly legends! And you can do it-”

Starr smirked. “With just my mind. There are two options- one, we can play it safe and change the storyline, or we can arsonize the headquarters.”

“Oh- well, playing it safe is a bit, boring, don’t you think? Let’s have some serious fun.”

Zura's SWC Writing

Daily 11/29

523 words

“How do you think we shall scheme today,” Alba smirked, rubbing a mango in her hand. “You know, the campers, innocent little pawns. Shall we place an intimidating facade?”

“SJDLKFJKEFR,” Random noises erupted from Birdi’s mouth. “Well, it’d be devastating to our image, if the camper saw us.”

She threw a mango across the Host Estate, which dyed the wall a fresh orange.

“Hey, my mangoes!” Alba growled, snatching the mango away from her. “Look, I’m the supposedly intimidating host.

“No, you’re cute.” Sini’s translucent body glided across the manor. She smirked, turning Alba’s cheeks fiery.

Alba purrs. “No, I am scary. This is how we are supposed to be. Big, scary tyrants!”

“You’re not scary at all, Alba.” Honey remarked, as she and Kat leaned over the spreadsheets of campers.

Bakie chuckled. “Well, to be fair! Birdi is far less scary than Alba.”

“See, this is my point. Thank you, Bakie, you’re now my favorite co-host.”

Kat and Honey whipped their heads around, narrowing their eyes. “Favoritism.”

“I mean, just look. You guys are a couple and would love each other more than me.” Alba lifted her chin, snuffing.

“So…” Birdi leaned into the couch, fiddling with her camera. “Who do you think will win SWC?”

“Non-fi!” shouted Honey.

“Dystopian!” chanted Sini and Bakie.

“No, it’s gonna be Fairy Tales. YOu’re all wrong.” Birdi smirked, releasing a sigh. “We’re definitely gonna win through the writing competition. We have Faer and Sea and many more epic writers. Plus, having Starr, though a judge, in our cabin, says a lot about our writing skill.”

Honey shook her head. “Non-fi is literally ahead of Fairy Tales, Birdi. Plus, our writers don’t suck either. We will definitely break Top 5 with the writing competition! Top Five on the Main Cabin? Pfft, just an empty bluff cabins place.”

“Luves, Dystopian is gonna win. We have so many epic writers, and our cabin spirit, unlike some cabins, is alive. Plus, ever since November 2020, Dystopian has always gotten Top 3. Too late to change the trend now, wouldn’t it be?”

Honey narrowed her eyes. “Well, by that logic, Non-fi will get Top 5, because ever since its creation, Non-fi has gotten Top 5! Sprout and Replay don’t disappoint!”

Kat chuckled to herself. “It’s funny to see you guys argue for your own cabins, while completely ignoring the current state of the leaderboards. Don’t you agree, Alba?”

She scanned her writing comp document. “Well, the placings so far. They’re very interesting, let’s just say.”

“I’m placing my bets on poetry.” Kat purred. “Sorry Honey Luv, but in a biased world, I must be the voice of reason.”

Sini smirked. “Dang, Kat, you’re kind of getting borderline philosophical here. OF course, not as much as you could be, since you’re a genius.”

“Thank you, Sine. I also have my writing comp predictions at hand, which I will send you later.”

Sine teleported through the wall. “Ah, Psychic Kat. That’ll be amazing- I wonder if Psychic Zura, Psychic Vienna, Psychic Mech could predict the results.”

“Bestie, I’m always right, and soon, I’ll take down their titles.”

Kat closed her computer, smirking.
