Easy. They just ask someone if they know a user that likes it. If you're nice enough about it, they might come back with a few usernames to talk to.

The user has the right to refuse to answer (aka if they disable it, it means they are not OK with sharing their follower count).

Why do we need them? I think it's pointless and stupid.
I demand that the ST give users the ability to hide the above sections, because hypothetically some people may not want their following sections visible. This may help with the f4f issue that I see very little of because if there is less than almost no emphasis on followers, the subject of them will be less important and will also declutter a tiny part the Scratch profile?

No support. It's a nice way to find people who have similar interests and it's nice to see how many followers you have.

I have support. Also (and I don't think this is mentioned yet), the first follower of some famous Scratcher is usually always bombarded by spam. Hiding your followers could eliminate that problem (sort of). And more importantly, Scratchers are often judged by the amount of their followers (or they worry disproportionately about how many/few they have).

No support - The followers section isn't supposed to be a competition, and besides, you can still see the follower count on ScratchStats, even if it was disabled. Thus, there isn't really a point to this as people can still se your count by other means.

Support. Scratch is not about fame, and this wil reduce competition between Scratchers.

Support there is no gain from having followers sho I think someone should be able to follow someone else without the other knowing

Scratch ain't about fame, and honestly? If someone has either of them hidden, I'm assuming that means people can still go to /users/(username)/following or /followers, but even if that's so and makes it pointless, I'd appreciate this.

this isn't about disabling followers, this is about HIDING the sections on your profile. Both being a seperate option probably.

followers are a competiotion just because they weren't designed with that intention doesn't mean it isn't the case. Anyway there would be serious changes to ScratchAPI for scratchstats to not work.
