I'm wondering if the Scratch Cat has a gender, or if it hasn't been revealed yet, or if it's up to interpretation.

I have to write out sentences like this: “The Scratch Cat was just chasing his/her/its tail one day…” which is really annoying. Or if I don't want to do tha,t I have to resort to: “The Scratch Cat was just the Scratch Cat's tail one day…” which is even more awkward.

So… I want to know… what the gender of the Scratch Cat is.

I don't think the scratch cat's gender should be restricted to being male or female

Most people consider the Scratch Cat as a male but the official gender is unknown.

there's no official gender, so the scratch cat can be whatever gender you want

(just so long as you don't use the gender for … um… strange uses…)

I know what you mean by that… maybe this is why they're not revealing it…?

I think this statement sums it up pretty well. It remains undecided to better fit the needs of the author
