When you create a new sprite in a project, it spawns at X: 36, Y:28. I don't see any reason for that. In Scratch 2.0, the new sprites spawned at X:0, Y:0, and it was much more convenient. I don't see any reasons for the relocation of the “spawn point” that happened in 3.0.
On a similar topic, when you draw a sprite, the default colour is purple. There is no reason for it to be purple, as it's not a particularly special colour.
I suggest making either one of the primary colours (red, yellow or blue), or orange (Scratch Cat's and the logo's colour) the default.

I am pretty sure that they randomized the x and y positions so that if the sprite is bigger than the other one (behind the new sprite), it wont be covered.

That doesn't help. The positions aren't randomized, it's just 36;28 for no reason.

Anyways, someone already had the idea to change the default color. Someone else also had the idea to change the default position. Please talk about these suggestions on their respective topics to prevent clutter. I'll ask a moderator to close this topic for you
