Touhou Project, or just Touhou, is a vertical side scroller bullet hell game where you play as a little girl. And you have to shoot other little monster girls. And boy, does it ever put the hell in bullet hell.

Pardon, but not ALL of the charries are monsters…sure, they're GIRLS, but Reimu is just a shrine maiden, and Marisa is a magician. 'Nuff said . ALSO, I absolutely LOVE Embodiment of Scarlet Devil!!!

agh, I tried to download it but I couldn't figure out how because everything was in japanese. does anyone have some kind of guide on how to download it? or was I just doing it wrong?

Well, for the most part, the English patch for the program can be downloaded from the Touhou Project Wikia. However, that may not help since the game must be downloaded first for it to run…<_>"

i really like them but as usual in japan everything is cute

i beat one on easy because my friend told me it was the easiest game and even that was hard ;_;

One time I 1cc'd Imperishable Night in easy modo (with both Eirin and Kaguya). That's one of my greatest achievements in life! I also almost beat Kanako in Mountain of Faith (easy modo) but I lost on her last non-spell, so I tried again and I died way more than usual, so I ragequit .
And I can't wait for Double Dealing Character, once it's released I will cry from happiness.

No matter the game I always seem to get stuck on Stage 3. There seems to be a difficulty spike around there.

Downloading this makes no sense. I downloaded a version that said it would work on a Mac (my parents won't let me install things on the home computer, it took a lot of begging to get Scratch, so I use my grandma's computer). Then it started popping up all these options and wouldn't let me play the game untIl I set all of them and I was like “what the heck?”.

Currently playing EOSD on Easy. I got to the beginning of the level with Remilla as the boss, and then I died. Possibly the hardest game I've ever played, but it also has some of the best music.

The Touhou Project is a series of 2D vertically-scrolling danmaku shooting games made by Team Shanghai Alice, with four fighting game spinoffs co-produced with Twilight Frontier.

In other words, a series of video games that look like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zJIZtlXrlE made by Team Shanghai Alice (one man, known as ZUN). Lots and lots of bullets in beautiful, colorful patterns that are extraordinarily hard to dodge, set to excellent music and great stories. I recommend the games to anyone with good reaction time.
The music is one of the best parts of the series, in my opinion. The original songs are fantastic on their own, but they get remixed by a wide variety of groups that compose everything from classical orchestra arrangements to vocal rock arrangements to piano arrangements, all using the same songs from the games.

… You can only get to Stage 5's end on Easy, due to severe safespots.
