quick reminder to not get too off-topic!

with that being said, I remember doing something like this last session,, here a few questions just to get to know each other better?

1. What's your favourite SWC cabin and why romance? What's your least favourite and why thriller and classics?
2. When you're writing, do you like to do a lot of planning, a little, or none at all?
3. First story you ever wrote?
4. When did you start writing.
5. Why did you start writing.
6. Add your own question :3

I'll go first!!

1. ramance!!! have I ever actually been in a session with a romance cabin??? no??? but did I stalk it for two sessions?? yes??? was it amazing??? yes!!
now don't get me wrong, I'm leading thriller and it was the cabin I was hoping to get but it's literally rip off adventure/horror. also I don't classics because idk I just,, don't
2. honestly it depends, ha– but closer to ‘a little’. Certain parts I'll plan but the big, major plot points, I leave a mystery even to myself until I actually reach that scene…
3. oh gosh it was called ‘the dinosaur who liked mangos’ and it was 11/10 no cap
4. kindergarten or first grade :0
5. to get my ideas out!! I don't like talking a lot so I could express my emotions through writing
6. I already gave you guys five questions I won't ask a sixth dw-

1. hmm myth will probably always be important to me as it was the first cabin I was ever in/ever lead. Least fav idrk, maybe myth bc it's like not even really a genre. I'm sorry evil twin, but like mythology is just eh - like it's cool to read about, but it usually just falls under either fantasy or non-fic.
2. None at all usually I start writing without any plans and then use my many whiteboards to refine and plot out bullet points. Always very general and I don't always remember to take a photo of the whiteboard…
3. Hm… I think the first one that ever stuck out to me was when I wrote my first “book.” It was when I fully acknowledged I liked writing and might be somewhat good at it. It was for a weekly vocab assignment that I turned into a book.
4. I have some stories dating back to when I was 4ish but I don't remember writing it at all
5. I sort of start narrating my life if I don't? It's weird and that's when I know I really need to get back to writing or focus my creative energy somewhere. I also just love reading and I had stories I wanted other people to read because I thought they were super cool.
6. Which expo marker is the best colour to write in? (I prefer the light blue or light brown)

6. Which expo marker is the best colour to write in? (I prefer the light blue or light brown)

1. Fantasy, bc it was the first cabin I was ever in and also the first cabin I lead (and it was with Alba too so that’s a bonus <33), plus I really enjoy writing that genre. For my least favorite cabin, I’ll have to agree with Bookie— Myth isn’t really a genre lol. Same with Classics. (even though I co-lead that cabin last session lmao)
2. A little bit. I’m really bad at planning a whole story / a lot of the story; I like getting to know the characters and world and figuring out what happens as I go along, especially because it’s hard for me to think ahead in the story and I don’t want to preemptively base the plot around characters’ decisions if they don’t end up wanting to make those decisions, y’know? (But I don’t like entering the story completely blindly, either.)
3. I wrote a bazillion stories when I was little, and I can’t remember what the first was, but the first *official* story I wrote on Google Docs was called ‘Vacation’ and it was about three sisters going to Africa, where they found plantain chips growing on bushes because I had no idea what life was like in Africa and I wasn’t allowed to google things.
4. I started writing before I could read, actually. Like, I didn’t know how to spell words and I was still writing stories. So maybe three? But officially (with the Vacation story) I was five and a half.
5. I’ve always enjoyed creating stories and making characters (my favorite part of writing) and so I just instinctively did it all the time. I’ve been writing stories my whole life and I never plan on stopping.
6 (from Bookie) Hmm, I typically go with light blue as well.
7. (My question) What’s your favorite writing memory?

YAY THESE WERE FUN LAST TIME
(not gonna quote because that will get long)
1. (favorite/least favorite cabin) contemporary because it was my first cabin and it was awesome :D and least favorite ummm sci-fi or fantasy because i lead them fdsljkf
2. (planning habits) i want to do a lot but i have bad habits and then it's swc and i realize that i need to write instead of procrastinating on planning even more lol
3. (first story) in second grade i wrote this awesome fanfiction that was like wild kratts and dora and word girl and probably daniel tiger and some other characters, and my teacher read it to the class and i had agreed but then i was so embarrassed lksdf it was terrifying (there might have been some before this? but it's the first one i remember)
at some point i also wrote a “”“”book review“”“” of the day it rained hearts and it wasn't a story but i feel like it deserves to be mentioned
4. (when did you start writing) i have no idea
5. (why did you start writing) it's fun i guess? idk
6. (expo marker colors) when was the last time i used an expo marker- but probably blue or black
7. do you like to listen to music (or anything else) while writing?
OH WAIT I DIDNT SEE LI'S I WILL ANSWER HER QUESTION NOW
writing memory: probably working on the last weekly (or maybe second to last actually? it was the week of thanksgiving) in november 2019, it was a collab story activity and it was cool

1. cabins // idk maybe poem because it was really fun last session fantasy was my first cabin tho so maybe that too!! mm idk I don’t have anything against any cabins themselves but if I’m going by genres maybe horror/thriller/adventure just because I feel like they’re very similar xD
2. planning // I actually tend to try and plan a lot, since at multiple points I’ve just found that without detailed/written planning it takes soo long for me to churn out a sentence ^^’ so yeah now I usually obviously plan the major plot/characters/world and for each chunk, write out a very short description of that before I start. it doesn’t really apply to super short pieces ofc and I don’t always follow this lol but I try xD
3. first story // in fourth grade I attempted a novel where there was this poor orphan who was a servant for a mean lady?? I don’t even know ahaha ^^; I didn’t even get past the first page lol, but I did draw the characters hehe
4. when // idk, I mostly just drew stories instead of writing them when I was younger, I did more of it in middle school and especially after I joined swc!
5. why // well I think I like how I can express my thoughts in fiction, whether it be personal emotions and stuff of comments on the world if that makes sense! also yeah it’s fun ^^
6. expo marker colors // I haven’t used them so much to have a favorite color xD I also don’t like writing on whiteboards as a lefty lol - but blue? the light blue is nicer
7. writing memory // cabin wars are always chaotic and super fun, but other than that, the weekly from march to write in the 15 genres was really fun for me ~
8. music or listen to anything else // yeah! I like to listen to instrumentals to sort of get into the mood or world of my story
9. what’s your favorite place/spot to write in?

fav cabin: i like thriller bc it was my first cabin and my first cabin that i led, but ultimately horror wins out from its epicness. i dont really like non fi or poetry because their genres arent as clear as the rest of the cabins and that is a hill that i will die on.
planning habits: non existent
first story: it was a pjo story where leo valdez falls in love with a poorly concealed self insert. i was convinced i'd publish it and become famous.
when did you start writing: idk
why did you start writing: to make my parents happy lol
expo markers: what are those
writing memory: i was in lebanon writing for cabin wars and drinking hot white chocolate with cinnamon which is basically liquid gold
my question: writing piece you're most embarrassed by?
edit: didnt see sea's question - in a tree in lebanon wow are you seeing a pattern here

Least fav: Horror. Why you always do well. Why was I always rejected >
How much plannings: YOU THINK I PLAN???
First story: I'm not admitting too it. That thing is going through a deep clean and no one is looking at it until Ive finshed crying over 7 year old me. writing about child soldiers????? CHILD GIGI WHAT?
Age: 7
Why: I wanted to get a badge at brownies.
Expo markers: idk.
Writing memory: My friend and I got on a word document and wrote MHA fanfiction. It was Shigaraki X Bread. Oh and there was also the issue of someone in a bath???
Music: Yes. I listen to GHOST covers.
Writing spot: Bed and Bus.
Most embarrassing work: the KFC meat isn't chicken fic. It. Yeah.
Eat while you write: I chomp on ice.
My question: Do you guys edit as you go, edit afterwards or get someone to edit for you?

1. Well, I’m biased, but the mythology cabin in March 2021, although the mystery cabin was quite creative My least favorite is probably thriller or contemporary, mainly because they’re not really themes, like if you were to name a contemporary book, you couldn’t. And thriller is basically adventure horror lol.
2. nahhh i normally search up a title generator and go from there— sHhHH.
3. It was either “Sam and chase and the big head” or “cassedy and cassie find their family”
4. (it was sam and chase and the big head). 2013? i was in kindergarten. cassedy and cassie was later that year, though.
5. I was bored in church. Sadly that’s the truth.
6. Black :3
7. Winning fourth place in the nation for a writing contest… also just writing with my friends in fifth grade, we’d pass around our computers and review each other’s writing.
8. AJR. fight me.
9. aw… in my fifth grade classroom on that one fluffy chair passing writing around with my friends after finishing our work..
10. nooo but listening to music is better b)
11. all of the above-
12. hm… perhaps the chickcumber chocolate cake thing in myth last march- xD

1. favourite cabin/s || going by swc cabins and not actual genres - poetry totally not biased, horror and mystery are always cool ^^ i don't have anything against any cabins/genres hehe
2. planning habits || it's helpful to have a basic idea of plot, characters and themes! i haven't really written any big pieces, so i'm not sure how it would affect my writing too much; but when i'm writing short stories, i always try to have a basic outline planned out beforehand ^^
3. first story || hehe, it was called “chamery and the secret magical world” (or something along those lines)
4. when || i was six when i wrote the above mentioned story! i think xD but i only started to actually write in … 2019? something like that, heh
5. why || i've been interested in writing since i was really young, so i'm not sure xD i think writing is an awesome way to be creative -
6. expo marker colours || i don't use them often ehehe - but black and blue are cool?
7. favourite writing memory || my best writing memories are from swc - cabin wars? ^^
8. music y/n || i tryyy, but music just end up distracting me xD i like listening to instrumentals to get inspired though!
9. favourite writing spot || i don't really have one? i usually write on my desk (or my bed if i'm tired ^^')
10. most embarrassing work || eep, probably something i wrote when i was younger ^^'
11. eating while writing || usually, no - it's just hard to do both at once hehe (plus i don't actually like eating ajskdf ^^')
12. favourite swc memory || noo i can't choose, there are too many xD but probably something cabin war related again ^^
13. my question! how do you get motivated? ^^ to write, ideally - but general motivation works too, hehe

YAYAYAYAY THIS STUFF IS SO FUNN

what's your favorite cabin and why? least favorite?
real fi. it was my first session, and i really wanted to be in bakie's cabin. i was torn about whether to go for my favorite genre (not my favorite anymore lol) or bakie, but then bakie ended up being the leader. it was just so fun- bakie, robin, and honey really made it awesome. (sorryy anyone in myth 2021- that's definitely my second favorite thoughh) my least favorite is contemporary, although that's probably just because i honestly can't tell the difference between that and real fi.

when writing, do you plan a lot or do you just go with it?
i don't know what that word means /j

what was the first story you ever wrote?
NOSTALGIA AHAHAH anyway, there's two. ones called the time traveling phone girls and the other one is titleless but it's about this dog named shadow getting an owner. i wrote these when i was suuuper young lol

when did you start writing?
ive always enjoyed it, wrote a few stories when i was a tiny midget, but never really started writing until last summer, covid. i saw other pieces of writing on scratch, said “heeeey that looks cool!!!” and started writing :')

why did you start writing?
honest or not honest :cold_sweat: not honestly, i did it because it looked fun and i was bored. honestly, i saw some writing projects with minor clout, decided it looked easy and would get me some fame, and started but now i love it so much fhjsls

what's the best expo marker to write in?
what's expo and what happened to pens or pencils?

favorite writing memory?
that one time when i started swc that i realized i actually really really really liked writing :sobbing:

do you listen to music when writing?
yes. not normally lofi, either. i like to play upbeat music with tons of words because yes b)

what's your favorite spot/place to write in?
i honestly just go wherever xD i normally end up going to the floor under my chair or where i am now, sitting against the ladder of my bed xD

what piece are you most embarrassed by?
time traveling phone girls xD if i can find it, i'll share it + the illustrations rip

do you like to eat when you write?
nononononononono

do you edit as you go, edit afterwards, or get someone else to edit for you?
uh what if you do none of the above rip okay i don't like reading my own work, or editing my own work (great excuse ;w and i quite frankly don't trust other people to edit my work although i have asked a few people i sort of trust before.

favorite swc memory?
truth or dare with bakie in real fi 2020 or- just yes. that.

favorite condiment? (just saw this rip)
no condiments. ever.

how do you get motivated?
easy answer. i don't, normally, although listening to music and reading fanfics off wp are awesome.

my question-
is language arts your favorite subject or is it something else?

1. What's your favourite SWC cabin and why romance? What's your least favourite and why thriller and classics?
There's a special place in my heart for Sci-Fi because it was the first cabin I lead :''). And thriller is the worst, i need no reasoning
2. When you're writing, do you like to do a lot of planning, a little, or none at all?
Depends! I plan but never write a lot of stories, but the ones i do finish/write are usually unplanned. I guess you could say i have no attention span fksghks
3. First story you ever wrote?
ack nooo not this question waitttt hmmm the earliest i can remember is in grade 3, (so i was probably 8ish) I wrote a story about a girl who looked exactly like me (and ofc was described as beautiful, what a surprise) and had no friends (not a self insert, nope) because all the other girls were mean to her :(((( (hmm… yeah i had friendship issues in grade 3, why do you ask?) but she's :sparkle: special :sparkle: and i dont remember the rest but there was a haunted mansion
4. When did you start writing?

earliest i can remember is 8 years of age
5. Why did you start writing?
School! It was time to learn to write ~narratives~ because we had national standardised testing coming up and of course we had to Do Well TM
6. Which expo marker is the best colour to write in? (I prefer the light blue or light brown)
if you mean whiteboard marker, then purple all the way woooo
7. What’s your favorite writing memory?
Working on the collab story in nov 2020 was *chef's kiss*
8. do you like to listen to music (or anything else) while writing?
CABIN WARS MUSIC ALL THE WAYYYYYYY
9. what’s your favorite place/spot to write in?
At my desk
10. writing piece you're most embarrassed by?
That first writing piece? yeah
11. do you like to eat while you write?
no but i like to drink hot (or cold) chocolate
12. Do you guys edit as you go, edit afterwards or get someone to edit for you?
as i go and after
13. instead of favorite writing memory, what's your favorite swc memory?
cabin wars betrayalsssss
My question: 14. Coolest story idea youve ever had?
(edit- guess this is what happens when you leave a post unsubmitted for hours, you miss questions. but its late so im not going back, sorryyy)

favorite and least favorite cabin // sci-fi is my favorite for a few reasons, the main being that it was the first I co-led and I have so many wonderful memories of last session. but horror is the best cabin, obviously. (horror ftw!!) least favorite is thr*ller, no explanation needed.

planning?? // pffft not usually. sometimes I’ll create characters before writing about them, but usually I don’t.

first writing // the first story I remember writing of my own choice was a story about princesses who were eaten by a witch. I wrote it in second grade :0

when?? // I technically started writing in kindergarten, but I didn’t choose to write something until second grade. after that, I became obsessed with writing (and whenever my siblings and I would play, I would pretend I was a big fancy bestselling author :0).

why?? // I used to love playing games with my siblings where we were princesses or literally anything, and one day after learning about onomatopoeias, I realized I could write what we were playing down as a story. at that point I was already a huge book lover, so it was only a matter of time before I started writing.

favorite condiment // hot sauce. I can’t eat anything without hot sauce anymore.

expo marker?? // I don’t use dry erase markers much, but I like the blue ones.

favorite writing memory // probably finishing my first story? I felt so accomplished and proud and wanted my whole family to read it. I haven’t finished a single story since then.

music?? // not usually, but I really do like listening to classical music while writing, it’s so relaxing. I can listen to stuff with words, but I don’t like to.

favorite writing spot // my bed. it’s where I wrote most of my writing. also my kitchen table, it’s nice to not be in my room sometimes. (this is so highly influenced my the pandemic it’s embarrassing.)

embarrassing pieces // honestly, despite how easily I get embarrassed, I don’t think I’m really embarrassed by any of my writing. my room is full of notebooks with half-finished stories and plots and characters, and while I’d never want anyone to read them, I’m not embarrassed by them.

eating?? // not usually. sometimes I really need to write something down and I just happen to be eating, but I prefer not to.

editing?? // never while I’m going along. if I stop writing when I’m in a rhythm, getting back in the rhythm is super hard. I like asking my dad to edit my stuff, though I don’t usually do that anymore. so that leaves me, after I’m done. I don’t usually get around to editing though, it’s so boring :00 (also, lark is a great editor (forgive me for shouting your out like that lark))

favorite swc memory // definitely the later cabin wars last session. they were so much fun, and betrayals were a fun surprise! (also kat’s planning was so impressive :00)

motivation?? // I attend an online writing camp three times a year, and what’s crazy about it is that it’s run entirely by children who are way cooler and awesome-er than I could ever be.

language arts?? // I hate English class so much. math, science, and art are my favorites. also asl.

coolest story idea // umm I don’t know. I like this time travel story idea I had once.

anything while writing // sometimes. I’m easily distracted, so it doesn’t work out for me a lot of the time.

my question // what cabin do you think should exist but doesn’t? this includes cabins that used to exist (ie short story, script, action, etc.)

ooh yess i love these

1. my favorite cabin is real-fi, because it's where I spent my first two sessions and co-led for the first time with bakie and honey least favorite might be…
2. usually i do try to plan when i'm aiming for a longer piece but i tend to do so much that i never write the story. whoops.
3. the first thing i remember that wasn't an assignment was back when i did ballet- i really need to go find it xD i dictated it to my mom and she wrote it down- but it went something like “clara did ballet. she went to her performance and did very well. then she went home.”
4. i started writing in kindergarten on those papers for kids to write on with the two lines and the dotted line in the middle and i hated it so much xD
5. because my sibling did. I am a classic little sister I always copy them and then feel bad about it
6. mayo? I don't use condiments a lot xD
7. the green ones are cool D
8. favorite rwiting memory
9. usually i have a musical playing on spotify, then i realize i'm getting nothing done and i pause to focus for a bit. then i turn it back on. and somehow i still think it's a good idea to play music with lyrics while i write.
10. my desk, because i prefer typing and i'm too lazy to take my computer anywhere else.
11. OH NO NOT THIS i wrote- i think it was a song? (does that count) in third maybe second grade and it's the worst thing i've ever used my brain for. i will not elaborate more.
12. I bring food in the room and then I finish it all before i start writing B)
13. i don't edit very much and i feel bad about that if it's spelling i always correct it immediately, if it's a plot hole i'll likely be too lazy to fix it, and usually my only editing afterwards is very minor.
14. ooh, that cabin wars where I stayed up till 2:30 to war bakie's hi-fi was very fun B) also the whole session july 2020 was awesome
15. never have much xD i unfortunately barely write other than SWC, which is a bit of a problem-
16. language arts is okay sometimes? still maad that i got a 16/20 because i used too much dialogue- apparently my teacher wanted us to have two lines? THERE ARE VERY FEW STORIES YOU CAN TELL WITH TWO LINES OF DIALOGUE at least in the style she wanted us to write in xD
17. i tend to hate all my story ideas after a while- but i did have a cool idea based on sleeping beauty
18. ahh not really, it takes away my focus
19. not sure! drama sounds cool :O
20. what part of the leading process during SWC are you most excited about?

gosH that took a long time xD

July 2021 SWC Leader Forum

quick reminder to not get too off-topic!

with that being said, I remember doing something like this last session,, here a few questions just to get to know each other better?

(why am I still communicating- xD) 1. I honestly don't know- I mean I'd probably say Thriller or Contemporary, purely because a. I write both, b. Thriller was the first cabin I led and Contemporary will be my first cabin as a co-leader
2. Usually yes, sometimes the ideas just randomly enter my mind and I start writing but often I write a blurb and plan around that.
3. It was a really bad picture book in my notepad. I was really young and I started writing in my notepad about some kids in a boarding school because I'd read Enid Blyton (or rather my mum read it to me-) and then I drew awful pictures of stick human with dresses to go with it-
4. When I was about….4 or 5?
5. Honestly, I don't know…I think I was inspired by authors I'd read

Bookie: I write everything with a keyboard- xD but if I wanted to, I'd choose red because it's my favourite colour-
Panda: does SWC count as a writing memory? Or dailies? xDDD Well…also I love that feeling you get when you've just thought up the COOLEST idea-
Honey: Yes, music gives me a lot of inspiration in my writing but also I listen to music all the time when I'm on the computer with headphones so…I already have it on xD
Sea: I guess I've already mentioned this, but at my computer in my room alone with a keyboard-
Cara: totally those picture books, but also I once sent off a book to a publisher that I'd proof read like six times and then for pleasure I decided to read it a few weeks later and found a word missing so the sentence didn't make sense AAAH but some of my story ideas are so bad…
Serrie: nope- I honestly would be more focused on my food. I watch videos whilst I eat…
Gigi: edit afterwards because I want to get into the novel first and see where I'm going with it and see if I like it, if I don't I'd probably scrap it
Vienna: UM- I like it all! But I enjoyed contributing to the memory book. I also LOVED the blooket and we should do that again- (also random sentence, I loved blooket so much that this Friday or Saturday I'm playing it with a couple of friends in my series dacord server, but only like two of them can come- and it's “Broken” themed, and also my german teacher showed up blooket and I'm pretty sure I was the only person who'd already played it) I also thoughht it was spelt blooklet
Starr: uhhh usually by music or if the characters I make are appealing to me…
Daisy: I'm in the UK so…I don't know what language arts is ;P
Kat: uhhh…well a lot of them are cool, but the one I'm writing about right now is about a girl who's brother committed suicide (<<< please don't get mad at me for saying that oops-) and I also have an idea of a boy that gets blamed for something they didn't do
Cae: romance or script writing because everyone knows I write a lot of scripts- does anyone else here?

My question: how does everyone come up with their characters? what's special about them? // my answer: Usually there's names I really like (i.e. Finn, Layla from my series) and then I give them looks that suit them to piece them together…finn and layla are my favourites ( “Broken” )

AM I THE ONLYT ONE WHO CALLED EVERYONE BY THEIR NICKNAME-
