I was answering a comment until I saw this:

(My 1st language is German)
-52 Characters left! Is this a bug or should the character limit be hidden?

Reproduction steps:
Just click on “reply” (on any comment) and type in more than 500 characters.

Expected result:
The character limit should hide if you have infinity characters or delete new characters if the comment mustn't be longer than 500 characters.

Actual result:
I think you can see it in the screenshot.

This is normal.

It's negative because it's telling you how far you went over the character limit. This way, you'll know how many characters you'll have to delete.

You can send it, but it will automatically cut out the extra characters.

NAB, intended, this tells you how many characters you need to omit to condense the text.
