Food

I've recently discovered I have a talent for cooking and baking. I also can write recipes, and tend to do this if I can't find the recipe I normally use.

Last night, I made oreo truffles. If you have never had them, make them now and try them. Here is a link to the recipe I used.

The night before last, I made salad dressing with my own recipe. The people who had it said it was good, but I don't like salad dressing, so I didn't try it myself. Here's my recipe.

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 cup of water (approximately)
  • Sugar
  • Spices (The ones I used were thyme, onion powder, garlic salt, pepper, and oregano.)
  • 1 ripe tomato

Directions
  1. Put oil, vinegar, and water in a jar. Place a lid on the jar.
  2. Shake the jar to combine the oil, vinegar, and water. (It's okay if they seperate afterwards; you will need to shake it again before putting the dressing on your salad.)
  3. Finely chop up the tomato and mix it into the oil, vinegar, and water.
  4. Add sugar. Start with a relatively small amount. If you taste too much vinegar, add more sugar. Repeat until the vinegar is not overpowering.
  5. Add your spices.
  6. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

I hope you enjoy. Share your recipes here.

Cooking!

The best thing I've cooked was white rice with coconut thai sauce, which ended up being pretty good! I cook spaghetti a lot, same with cookies, browinies, rice krispies, cake, and a whole lot of other desserts. I can make up some pretty good meals with rice and pasta, and if I use a recipe, wander really far.

I've always loved pasta and rice dishes, which are pretty easy to improvise on.

Casseroles are also easy. My dad says you need a starch thing, a sauce thing, a meat thing, and a cheese thing, and you should be good.

The Casserole Method:

Starch
Sauce
Meat
Cheese

Memorize, and put into action.
I enjoy casseroles a lot, especially bean and vegetable casseroles.

I enjoy casseroles as well. They are relatively easy and inexpensive to make, and they taste good.

Well, I tried to make this one casserole, and it tasted…Uh….Let's say that you probably shouldn't use food that's gone bad.

For the salad dressing, I did taste it before I served it to make sure it turned out ok, but I didn't put any on my salad. For the cake thing, I didn't realize the milk was spoiled until too late.

Every time I make chocolate chip cookies, they taste “meh.” Maybe I should use a different recipe.

I do cookies pretty well, but not “OH MY GOSH THESE ARE DELICIOUS!!!” well. They taste slightly dry, and are very crumbly every time.

Put more glue in them; it will help them stay together better.

I always use this recipe, and it's pretty great if you like chewier cookies (which I do). They keep well in the freezer, too.

Oh, I love chewy cookies. Thanks. I'll keep that recipe.

I can cook SPAM and Pineapple fairly well. It's basically SPAM, canned pineapple chunks, vinegar, mustard, and plenty of brown sugar.

I don't remember the exact quantities right now, but it's in the cookbook we have so I can edit them in later.

-Slice the SPAM and arrange in a baking dish
-Drain the pineapple, reserving some of the juice
-Put the pineapple on top of the SPAM
-Mix together the remaining ingredients, and the reserved juice; pour this mixture onto the SPAM and pineapple chunks
-Bake for 1/2 hour

today I made a really nice lemonade ^^ it had a lot of zest in it since I just bought a microplane zester, and I also put in a lot of sugar and let it infuse with some slices of peach. it ended up tasting a little like raspberries, since the zest was so strong
