It would be nice if you could upload or select a sprite to be the favicon for projects. This would be useful for game developers. The project icon could also be shown on the project search window that you click on to get to the project.

You can already set thumbnails of the project. Try searching “How to make Animated Thumbnails” in the project search, if that is what you are looking for.

Ohhhhh, ok. I think this is possible because you can do it in Snap! using a custom block and JavaScript.

An interesting idea, but I'm going to be honest I don't any major benefits to this. Why would we need to have unique favicons for Scratch projects?

Also, implementing this would mean creating a new editor inside the project for editing favicons. This would make Scratch more sophisticated and would confuse new Scratchers.

Scratch doesn't need another editor. You can just select a sprite from the project or upload an image. The default icon would be the scratch “S”

I mean I don't think this would be a huge strain on the server as costumes probably take a lot more storage space than favicons anyways

If this is implemented there should be an option to report a project's favicon.

Support for that, if it's inappropiate.

Support, because this would allow a lot more customization for projects, which allows each to stand out from each other.

Thank you for the support on my idea. Maybe the upload favicon button could be an icon on the right of “view project page”

No support. I, like many others, primarily rely on favicons for a way to tell what site a tab is at a quick glance. This feature could be confusing, especially if people change the favicon to icons of other websites like Google, GitHub, my email, and other common sites. It may seem like a minor inconvenience but to me it doesn't seem like a good change.
