(How I adapted Shaine's name from Channe –>) Channe-Chane-Shane-Shaine

Isla walked up to Willow in the school cafeteria. “Hey.” Said Isla. “Hi.” Said Willow. “Got a 93 on that math test, what about you?” Asked Isla, sitting down. “98.” Said Willow, sitting next to Isla. “Nice!” She replied. “Thanks.” Said Willow. They talked some more. They finished their lunch and walked out the cafeteria. “So can we hang out after school?” Willow asked. “Sure. As soon as I finish all my homework, though.” Said Isla. They walked into their next class, history. They both sat down, along with everyone else except the teacher. “Hello class, in this unit we're learning about Romania.” He said. “So vampires? Cool.” Said a random boy. “No. There is so much wonderful history there.” Then he remembered something. “As a matter of fact, a new student is starting tomorrow and he's from Romania. Maybe he'll know everything I'm about to teach.” “I wonder if we'll meet the new boy tomorrow.” Isla whispered to Willow. “Maybe. ”She replied. After school, they both went to the library to finish their work. It took a long time.  When they were done they went to Willow's house. Her house has plants everywhere, as Willow and her parents are vegetarians. Her house is also right by the woods, so you hear a lot of odd sounds. They walked in and went to Willow's room. “Wanna paint our nails?” Willow asked. “Sure.” Said Isla. Isla got a towel and Willow got the nail polish. 20 minutes later, they both have pretty painted nails. Willow's painted hers a forest green and Isla painted hers a purple-ish red. “That color is so pretty on you.” Willow said. “Thanks, yours look so good too!” Isla replied. Willow got up and opened the window. “The smell's too much.” She said. Then they heard a noise. “What was that?” Isla asked. There's always a lot of weird noises, owls hoo's, bugs clicking, all kinds of animals. But this was different. It was a howl, and then a growl. “Is that a wolf?” Willow asked. “Wolves have never lived here.” Isla said. They both looked out the window, trying to see where that noise came from. “There!” Willow said, pointing. There was a very quick black shadow. “I couldn't see what it is.” Said Isla. They are both very curious girls, and they both had the same idea. They walked to the living room and grabbed some flashlights.  It was already dark outside, they wouldn't be able to see. They walked outside and into the woods. They looked everywhere, determined to find what made the odd noise. Soon, Willow said, “I think I saw something, over here.” Isla looked to where she pointed. They walked over. They couldn't see anything. They looked some more, but soon after Willow said, “There's nothing here. Let's just go back inside.” As they were walking back, they heard something. A growl. “What was that?” Willow asked. “Hurry, let's get back.” Isla said. They ran back to the house, and just before they were out of the woods something attacked Isla. She and Willow screamed. It was a wolf. It left so quickly, leaving Isla and Willow nearly unharmed. “Ow, ow. Help me.” Isla said. She had scratches everywhere, all from the bush she has been pushed into. Willow helped her up, and helped her walked into the house. She helped Isla to the bathroom. Willow cleaned her cuts and put on some bandaids on the deeper ones. She rolled her pants up to clean a scrape on her shin when she saw something. “Isla, the wolf bit you.” She said. Isla looked at her leg. Just above the ankle was a bleeding bite. “How did I not feel that?” She asked. “I dont know, but we should probably take you to the doctor.” Willow cleaned it and wrapped it in a bandage. Willow walked out and came back in with her mom. “What happened?” She asked Isla. “We went into the woods to check out a weird noise. Then all of a sudden something attacked me.” Isla said. “I think it was a wolf.” “Wolves don't live here.”said Willow's mom. She unwrapped the bandages and looked at it. “But this does look like a wolf bite. Let me call your mom and I'll take you to the doctor's.”

The next day Willow and Isla walked to school. “Are you ok?”asked Willow, looking at Isla's ankle. “I'm fine. The bite isn't deep, it'll heal.” She replied. They walked in the school. “I wonder if we'll meet the new boy.”asked Willow. Then they bumped into someone. “Sorry.” He said, a faint Romanian accent. “Speak of the devil.” Said Isla. “Can you tell me where math is?” He asked. “Just down that hall, 3rd door on the right.” Said Willow. “Thank you. I'm Shaine.” “I'm Isla, and this is Willow.” She said. “Nice to meet you. Maybe we'll bump into each other again.” He walked away. “I thought he would have a thicker accent.” Willow said. “I did too. We should get to class.” Said Isla. They walked to science. In the afternoon they walked to history. As they say down the teacher said,“ Hello everyone. Like I said yesterday, we have a new student starting today. Shaine moved here all the way from Romania. Tell us a little about yourself, Shaine.” “Oh, uh, I move between America and Romania a lot. People have been asking why my accent isn't that distinct.” “Did he hear us?” Willow whispered to Isla. She shrugged. “There's really not much to tell about me.” Shaine said. “Ok then. You go and sit down. Theres a spot right behind Isla.” Said the teacher. Shaine walked over and sat down. “Hello again.” He said. “Hi.” Said Willow. Shaine looked at Isla's injury. “What happened?” He asked. “We think it's a wolf bite, which is weird because no wolves live here.” Said Willow. “A-a wolf?” Shaine asked, looking very worried. Worried and scared. “I'm fine, but I don't know what happened.” Isla said. “No talking please.” Said the teacher. They all stopped talking and listened, except for Shaine. He already knew everything the teacher was teaching, and he was very very concerned for Isla. After class Shaine walked up to Isla and Willow. “Hey.” Isla said. “Hi. Can you tell more about the bite?” He asked. “Um, ok I guess. We heard a weird noise coming from the woods. We went to check it out and I got attacked. It wasn't really an attack, it just pushed me into a bush and bit me.” Said Isla. “Are you sure it was a wolf?” He asked. Isla raised her eyebrow. “Yeah, I'm pretty sure.” “When did this happen?” He asked. “Last night. Why are you asking me these questions?” Isla replied. “Just curious.” He thought a moment. “I just want to be friends. Sorry if I'm asking the wrong questions.” He said. Isla laughed a little then said, “Sure. Could be fun. I've never been friends with anyone from Romania.” “So what's it like there?” Asked Willow. “Some places are beautiful, others not so much.” He said. “Does you name mean anything?” Isla asked. “No, just a name my parents liked.” He said. He looked at a clock on the wall. “I should go home now, see you tomorrow.”Shaine said. Willow and Isla waved and walked to the library.

The next day everything was different. The bite was all healed so she took the bandage off. Later, she met up with Willow and Shaine. “Hey.” She said. “Hey.”said Willow. “Hello.” Shaine said. “How did the bite heal already?” Willow asked, looking at Isla's ankle. “I don't know.” She said. Shaine looked a little sick. “Hey, do you smell that?” Isla asked. “What?” Willow asked. “You don't smell it? It's like….” she trailed off. She walked down the hallway, and looked down another. Willow and Shaine followed, and Isla said, “That's it! Pizza. They're serving it in the cafeteria today.” “How did you smell that? The kitchen is behind the cafeteria, which is all the way down another hall.” Said Willow. Shaine looked sicker. “Are you ok? You look really sick.” Isla asked Shaine. “I'm fine.” He said. Then he said under his breath, “As long as you don't have sensitive hearing.” Isla paused, then said, “Dang it.” “What?” Willow asked. “Pop quiz today in history.” She said. “How could you possibly know that?” Willow asked. “Mr. Parker(history teacher) just said it.” Isla replied. “Mr. Parker's in his classroom, near the cafeteria, which again is far away.” Said Willow. Shaine grabbed Isla's arm. “Ok, we have to talk.” He said, pulling her away. “About what?” She asked. He pulled her into an empty hallway. “So you got bit by a wolf. You can smell things that are far away and have sensitive hearing. Sound familiar?” “No, what are you talking about?” Isla asked. “My father was in the woods that night you were bitten. Except he's the one that bit you.” “It was a wolf that bit me.” Said Isla, still confused. “My father can turn into a wolf, so can I, and now you.” Shaine said. Isla burst out laughing. “Werewolves don't exist.” She said. “Of course they do. And I would know.” He said. “Prove it.” She said, seriously. Shaine looked around for anyone. Then he looked back at Isla and bared his teeth. They sharpened, and the canines grew longer. They went back to normal and he closed his mouth. Isla almost screamed. “Th-that's weird. And creepy. But that doesn't prove anything.” She said. Shaine said, “What? How does that not-” he sighed, “Meet me in the woods after school.” “Fine.” She said. They both walked back to Willow, but Isla was really weirded out by Shaine. The bell rang, so Willow and Isla walked to science while Shaine walked to math.

(I'm gonna start adding new paragraphs for each new speaker, I've kept on forgetting on all my posts above)

After school, Isla finished her homework in the library like usual and then walked to the woods. She knew Willow was getting her wisdom teeth out, so she wouldn't see Isla go into the woods with Shaine.
“What so you want?” She asked.
“Come on, I'll show you werewolves are real.” He said. She rolled her eyes and walked to him.
“Nothing to lose.” She said under her breath. She walked with him deeper into the woods. She was cautious, she didn't want a wolf to bite her again. They stopped and Shaine turned to her. His eyes glowed yellow with small bits of green.
“What?” Isla asked. Quickly he turned into a wolf. Isla shrieked. He turned back and Isla almost fainted.
“What. Just. Happened?” She said, breathing heavy.
“I know, it must be a lot to take in.” He said.
“This isn't real. I'm gonna wake up any moment now and this never happened.” She said. The closed her eyes. When she opened them she was still there, in the woods standing with Shaine.
“S-so does this mean…?” She asked.
“I told you. Werewolves are real.” He said.
“But you said I got bitten does that make me….?” She asked, scared.
“Yeah.” Shaine said. This time she really did pass out. When she woke up she was laying on the dirt, Shaine next to her. She sat up. Then she remembered what happened before she passed out. She screamed, but Shaine shushed her.
“Willow lives near here.” He said.
“There's no way. I can't be. Werewolves may be real but I'm not one.” Isla said. Shaine put his hand on her shoulder and nodded. He was trying to be gentle. “This is a lot. How did you handle this?” Isla asked.
“I was born knowing this would happen. Werewolf bloodline.” He said. Isla sat there, taking it all in.
She believed it, and asked, “So what's gonna happen? What's it like?”
“Its pretty cool. You can turn into a wolf on command. Heightened senses. Fast reflexes. You get pretty strong and fast.”
“What else? Something has to be bad about this.” She said.
Shaine sighed, then said, “ Yeah, something's aren't so great. You really don't eat anything but meat, you can hurt someone. And most of the time you choose when to turn into a wolf, but during full moons there's no choice. You're a wolf from when the moon comes up until it goes down.” He said.
“This is so much. Is there anything I can do to be… human again?” She asked.
“Not that I know of.” Shaine said. Isla curled up and stayed silent.
“What's wrong?” Shaine asked.
“What's wrong!? I just found out I'm a wolf! I did not ask for this.” She said. She started crying. “Hey…” Shaine said, in a very gentle voice. “I'll always help you. I'll help you through this.” Isla came up and hugged Shaine.
“I'm just scared.” She said.
“I know. And I'm sorry it happened at all.” She pulled away.
She said, “Thank you for willing to help me.” Shaine looked up. The sun was just starting to set.
“You wanna see what it's like?” He asked. She hesitated, but nodded a little. Shaine helped her up.
“What do I do?” She asked.
“Just relax. Think about turning into a wolf. It'll get easier over time.” He said. She closed her eyes. She didn't turn into a wolf.
“Nothing happened.” She said.
“Let's just try a little at a time. Think about the teeth, and try to do what I did earlier.
”Super weird by the way.“ She said. He laughed. She laughed a little too. She thought about it. Then she felt something. She opened her mouth and touched her teeth. They were wolf teeth.
”I did it!“ She said.
”Nice. And yeah, super weird.“ He said. Her teeth went back to normal.
”I wanna try turning into a wolf again.“ She said. ”If you think you can.“ Shaine said. She took a deep breath and focused. She imagined being a wolf, running through the woods. Her eyes glowed purple with black specks. Then she turned into a wolf. It felt so odd, but kinds comforting at the same time.
Shaine said, ”Good! Do you wanna run around? It feels really nice.“
She tried saying, ”yeah,“ but it came out like a small bark. She laughed at the new language she suddenly knew. Shaine turned into a wolf and they ran together. It felt so good, the wind blowing and the feel of going so fast.
They stopped in a clearing and Shaine said, ”Wait.“ Isla laughed again at how she just knew this language. Shaine looked up and howled. Isla giggled.
”You try.“ He said. Isla did the same. It was nice. They continued running around and then they stopped near the part of the woods where Willows house was near. They turned back.
”I have to get home now. It's probably past my curfew.“ Isla said.
”It was really nice.“ Shaine said.
”It was. And again, thank you so much for helping me." She said. She waved and walked off.

The next day Isla walked to Shaine in the school hallway.
“You ok?” He asked.
“Yeah, just completely accepted, you know.” The bell rang.
“See you at lunch.” Shaine said. He walked away. When no one was near, Isla made her teeth into fangs.
She touched them and said, “So weird.” She turned them back and walked off. At lunch she sat next to Shaine.
“Hey.” He said.
“Hi.” She replied. She picked up a carrot from her lunch.
Shaine grabbed her hand and said, “You'll get sick.” She put it down. Later, in between classes, Isla sat on a bench with Shaine in, waiting for history to start. Isla grabbed some earbuds and her phone from her backpack.
“You probably shouldn't. With sensitive hearing you'll hurt your ears, even on a low volume.” Shaine said.
Isla stood up and said, “I'll be right back.” She walked to the bathroom, holding back tears.
She locked herself into a stall and whispered to herself, “I'm never gonna get this.” She sat there, crying. When the bell rang she stayed there. Then a little while later she heard Shaine in the hall ask, “Are you ok?”
“I'm fine, go away.” Isla replied.
“I heard you crying, what's wrong?”
“I said I'm fine.” She wiped her eyes and walked out of the stall. She walked out of the bathroom, puffy eyed. She walked past Shaine and towards history. Shaine caught up with her and grabbed her arm.
“What's wrong?” He asked. He said it so gently. “I'm never gonna get this.” She lowered her voice. “Being a wolf is so weird. And there's so many things I have to change. My life is never going to be the same.” She started crying again. Shaine opened his backpack and pulled out a big book. “I've been looking for ways to reverse it. I ha-” “You'd do that for me?” Isla asked.
“Yeah.” He murmured, “It's kinda my fault this happened at all.”
“What do you mean?” Isla asked.
“I was arguing with my dad and he stormed out. If I hadn't been so stubborn this never would have happened.” Shaine started to tear up a little. Isla look up at him.His face looked sad and his eyes were filled with guilt. Isla wrapped her arms around him. A few seconds is later the bell rang. Isla pulled away.
Shaine sniffled, then said, “We're in trouble.” Then the history teacher walked out, students behind. The teacher walked to Isla and Shaine, while all the students walked the other way.
“We're so sorry, we didn't mean to skip class.” Isla said to the teacher, wiping her eyes.
“Come inside please.” The teacher said, walking towards his classroom. Once inside, he closed the door and said, “What do you mean you didn't mean to skip class?”
“Again, we're sorry. We were just talking about…” Shaine quieted, “Personal stuff.”
“If you 2 need any help, you can ask anyone. Any of the staff here would help you.”
“Thanks, but we'll probably just figure it out ourselves.” Isla said. The teacher nodded.
“You'll have to make up the work we did today, but go home for now. Talk to your parents about these personal issues.” Isla and Shaine walked out.

. The next day, Willow walked up to Isla and Shaine in the halls.
“I missed you!” Isla said, hugging her.
“Me too. I'm just glad I never have to do that again.” Willow said, holding her jaw.  Then the bell rang.
“See you 2 later.” Shaine said, walking to math. Isla and Willow walked to science.
“So, you think anything of Shaine?” Willow asked. Isla laughed.
“No!” Then she sounded more serious. “A lot has happened in the few days you were gone. And now, I … I kinda think of Shaine as a brother.” “What happened?”
“Maybe later.” Isla replied, and they reached the classroom. At lunch Willow walked with Isla to the cafeteria. Shaine walked up to them.
“Hey.” Isla and Shaine said at the same time. Then they laughed a little. They all sat down at a table and talked a little. After lunch they all walked to history.
As everyone sat down, the teacher said, “Today class, we will learn about-” he was cut off by a student.
“Vampires?” The student asked. The class giggled, and the teacher sighed.
“No, they are not real. As are ghosts, demons, trolls, witches, and werewolves.” Isla couldn't help smirking just a little bit. After class Isla walked out with Willow and Shaine.
“Let me go get a drink of water, I'll meet you in the library.” Willow said. Isla walked with Shaine to the library.
“Are vampires and other…creatures real?” Isla asked.
“I know vampires are, but I'm not sure about any of the others.” A chill ran down Isla's spine at the thought of seeing a vampire. They reached the library, say down at a table, and pulled out their books.
