Ugh…
I am not sure what is going on, thumbnails have not been updating for 3 weeks now, this is getting really annoying. Does anyone know the problem? I know it has been happening to a lot of other people too, thanks.

Have you ever wanted to play a Difficulty Chart Obby that keeps on getting harder, and is original? Then this is just for you. It is a scrolling platformer, it is long, has checkpoints, has moving platforms, crushers, and more!

I haven’t been able to make a thumbnail it just keeps showing scratch cat does anyone here know why?
Example of what I’m trying to do…. am i doing it right or does the scratch cat thumbnail issue happen to others too?
when green flag clicked
switch costume to [ thumbnail]

change [ ghost] effect by (?)

This is a problem with the internal servers of scratch itself. i'll further explain later.

I have been experiencing that same problem. Coincidentally, a hard-worked on animation, which the thumbnail was a deleted backdrop.

Yup.
I think the ST is attempting to solve it, though. I noticed a comment around this topic on @ceebee's profile, and she answered by providing a link to the forums on bugs, and glitches.
