Another Way to talk to the Scratch Team Privately

Same for me. My account is under my school e-mail (but I use my personal e-mail for contacting the scratch team), and it reveals my full name, birthday and year, and my address (like exactly where I live, which is weird). I tend to forget to e-mail with my personal e-mail, so it would be much easier for me (also because I don’t want to reveal exactly where I live, even to MIT.

Removed because I revealed personal information on accident.

Support! Contact us sucks is slow and I don't like slow and maybe there is an important information that a scratcher can send but because it's slow, good luck.

It's not “slow”, it's one button click and a form prompt. It's the bare minimum and the fastest way to contact them. They're not superhuman so obviously the response is going to take a while.

I meant the response is slow.

I'm pretty much neutral on the suggestion, but I don't think that this system would magically be faster.

Some time ago, I proposed a vaguely similar system - a sort of “hot line” that allowed for rapid appeals of moderator actions due to the horrific slowness of Contact Us. A moderator replied to it and posed a question along the lines of “if we had the resources to operate such a system, wouldn't it make more sense to just focus more of those resources on answering Contact Us messages”?

Essentially, their point was that they don't have enough people - a problem that is rearing its ugly head every single day. Because of that, I don't think this system would be any faster than Contact Us.

I don't suppose you've used Contact Us recently…

Some time ago (I can't remember when) they redesigned Contact Us so it now requires two button clicks, and apparently this was to curb frivolous use of the feature. As a result, I've seen at least one, perhaps 2 posts, from people who were distressed because they couldn't figure out how to use it - although I should note that this design change roughly coincided with Corona™ causing Scratch's userbase to explode, so regardless of whether it is actually harder to use or not, the chance of observing someone not being able to figure out how to use it would be higher simply because there are more people.

…Yes. Like I said, they're not superhuman. Community moderators are part time and I'm sure email support is also part time. Being a non-profit foundation I'm sure they've got a pretty small team, some working remote with wildly different timezones, etc. Technology will not magically make things faster.

I just went over and checked out the page. It's still pretty simple and I was able to find the way to contact them in like 10 seconds.

Semi-support. If kids didn't use a parents Email, they couldn't have become a scratcher (not referring the status). Some kids (like me) also don't need this because they have an Email for school (you can use it any time of the year (i said that to prevent confusion)). But, this would be easier instead of having to keep checking your email.

This feature is rejected, meaning Scratch will not add it. See below for reasoning:
8.6 Blocking or ignoring Scratchers
This suggestion refers to an optional system that makes it so that you do not have to see comments that a particular user posts. This feature existed in Scratch 1.4, but the Scratch Team found that it buried any problems rather than solving them. Even if you block a user, that does not stop them from harassing other Scratchers. If someone is being disrespectful, be sure to report that user with the Report button, or use the Contact Us link if the situation requires more explanation.

However, a system to block users while simultaneously reporting them is NOT rejected; you can discuss them on this topic.
My source is this official list, by the way. Also in the future, please make your own topics with the “New Topic” button on this page
