“I'm another ghost who brings more people down from the world of the living, to being ghosts, and you will never catch me! See, I also murdered your friend Midnight here.” The boy who was once Ms Cackabane transformed into a lion, roared and darted down the Airport. She had a glamour spell on so everyone alive (except the detective, Jack and the airport man) saw her as a lady running by quickly.
Midnight's jaw dropped.
“Wait, does that mean.. do you think she killed my real mother?” Cloris asked, while Jack got away with his mother.
“Probably. Why? No need to ponder on what you lost before you were 1 years old.”
“I just.. I need to know. Do you have any magic, to show me?”
Suddenly Cloris was in another scene, and it was like she was in spectating mode in a video game.. she saw herself as a baby and beside her was..

That very boy who once was Mrs. Cakabane was right there beside her. She watched as the boy glanced around nervously before he picked her up, and stepped away from the dead body of her mother.
When Cloris returned to the present, she blinked her eyes. “What about Jack? Is he a ghost too?” She tapped her fingers on an imaginary bookcase. She shook her head in frustration. “It’s all just an endless cycle, isn’t it? We just go around life, and what we do now can affect the lives of so many others…” She thought back to a short story she had read in English class, and while it had been confusing then, it all now became clear to her. “The butterfly…” She collapsed to her knees. “I don’t think there’s anything we can do against her. She’s a ghost after all, and there’s no stopping a ghost, just like what I said earlier.” She banged her head on the imaginary desk in front of her, but suddenly it was not so imaginary anymore. The airport dissipated, and in it’s pace materialized a bed room.
“Cloris? Is that you?” The voice was Midnight’s, but she no longer appeared to be a ghost. Instead, there was a pretty young lady who was very much alive.
“Yeah, it’s me.” Cloris ran her finger across the cold surface of the desk, and smiled. “I think we’ve found ourselves in another dimension where neither of us were murdered. Obviously you live quite a bit later, but we’re alive, don’t you see?” She rejoiced even to see the sheets of homework before her.

“Oh my gosh!” Cloris cried. “This is…amazing! You're so beautiful Midnight!”
Midnight blushed. “Thank you!”
“So…is this world meant to be a…good one?”
“As I said, neither of us were murdered. Pretty much, we're both alive!”
“Yay!” Cloris rejoiced. “I hope we'll never have to go back to the real world. But wait…will I see my mother? My real one?”
“I expect,” Midnight looked thoughtful. “If she was ever a ghost.”
Along came many other humans like them, and Cloris guessed they were also ghosts too.
“One of them must be my mother,” Cloris breathed. “It has to be.”

“Even if we don’t find her, at least we will have each other.” Midnight whispered. “We will search though. I don’t know, we might find my family too.” Her eyes looked distant, and then sad. “That is, if they haven’t gone on to another place by now. It has been nine centuries…”
Cloris placed her hand on Midnight’s shoulder. “We’ll find them, don’t worry.” Her words brought more life than had already been into her face. “It might be too late, I wouldn’t know. Something, however, tells me that we aren’t. I hope that voice inside my head is right, because we’re going to look until we drop.”
The two girls walked together through the crowd of people. “Excuse me? Would you happen to know where…” Midnight frowned, and a small tear appeared at her eye. “How am I going to find them if I don’t remember their names? I can’t even remember my own name, what am I supposed to do?” She put her head in her hands, but before she began to cry, a hand tapped her on the shoulder. This time, it wasn’t Cloris.
She turned around cautiously, and to her great surprise, her mother looked exactly as she had in her dreams. She said nothing, for her mouth refused to form words. She simply put her arms around her, and they stood like that for a long while.
