Because if every platformer was the same, everyone would get bored with them easily. I like platformers that have a bit more meta. It makes them more interesting. After all, games are supposed to be fun, right?

I'd also like to point out that you have not only discouraged the user with your last sentence, you also lacked clarity, which certainly isn't seeming to help. But that's okay. I can edify. Besides, the OP needs to know what they're doing.

Now that it's in the right forum category, might I suggest a game where you defeat bosses and copy their powers? You could even add a feature that allows the player to shapeshift and turn INTO the bosses the player defeats.

I have not, however I do know some Pokemon games that fit the description.

However, I think adding lots of enemies would make it interesting, and making the player be able to turn into all those enemies – or even just get all their powers – would mean that the project would go off the maximum file size limit.
