How do people collaborate? I have looked at the collaborations discussion and still don't know how you do it.
Do people in a collaboration use lots of separate projects and then at the end put them all together?
Or do they all use one account and everyone knows the password and username?

My friend wants to help me with my project but I could not think of any way of him helping me on the same project. Apart from the idea of me giving him my scratch password and username. As much as I trust my friend I don't really want anyone else on my account.

A collaboration can be a lot of things. It generally is used to refer to a bunch of people working together somehow.
In a collab, sometimes they have different people working on separate projects, but sometimes they have a shared account and all work on it.

If you want to work on a project with your friend, you can create a new [shared] account for that project.
