I don't think so, unless your computer starts to lag greatly, there shouldn't be a problem.

Usually when people say they have a “large number of blocks” it really isn't that large. At least it's small enough for Scratch to handle.

It doesn't matter as long as the project is less than 10 megabytes (which is more than it seems).

I think that limit was raised in 2.0.

Only as much as your computer can take.

Now it's 50 mb

so yes there is a limit. but it's just defined by that 50Mb of space

just to give an idea minecraft (the appdata not the launcher) is about 70Mb

There is a limit on blocks in a single script, at least in 1.4. It's very big, however. If you make a very complicated 1s1s game, you may end up hitting it.

As for total blocks, no idea.
