How to make a multiplayer game for 6 players!
You will have a better experience working in Scratch if you have realistic expectations of what the language is able to do. Multiplayer of any kind in Scratch is kind of hit and miss… some projects are able to put together an excellent project, and others die on the vine due to frustration and lack of progress.
Before you try a 6 player game, try a 2 player game. It will teach you about using cloud variables to sync between the players, and it is plenty difficult to get 2 people on the same application, let alone 6 of them. The best start is to pick one mechanic and develop that mechanic as far as you can. For example, before you can have a meaningful 2 player game, you need a messaging system that will allow the program to know it is being played in 2 separate games.
Finally, remember the limits on cloud variables. You get no more than 10, they are 265 digits max length, they are throttled to 1update/second-ish, and they *only work* for registered Scratchers who are signed in. For some perspective, consider that there are 7.8 billion people on Earth, 60 million registered Scratch accounts, and only a few hundred thousand people total who will be able to play your multiplayer game. That means that new Scratchers, people from the greater internet, and Scratchers who are concerned about internet security will *never* be able to play your game. Sorry for the bad news, but real help includes real talk, and you will have a much better time if you start with these limits in mind.
