Is trending weirdly subjective?
I would say, yes this has happened a lot and I have seen it too, but when a project gets featured, it usually isn't even on trending! After it is featured, only the remixes get on trending. I don't really know what is happening here, though, like the mass reporting too! I saw a scratch was about to post a very exciting project, then he got banned for 2 weeks just because of mass reporting out of jealousy!

Do you have a specific project with enough views that you, and we all, should assume it end up on trending using a relevant and fair algorithm? I think the widely understood meaning of the word Trending should apply if it is to be used on the Explore page. hi i am @01cyborg on a school alt and i wonder why i haven't been on trending though i have hardly any followers and its very confusing

I think the trending system is broken. A few days ago, I searched for a game, I turned on the trending filter, and the first result had about 240 views, while the 8th had over 2000 views. I think scratch may have some issues, since scratch has been quite slow for me recently.

I think that people who reach a certain amount of followers are sort of barred off of trending. the reason is, every time they make a project, it gets on trending. thats why people like @Griffpatch, @boymcboy, @huntedskelly and other famous scratchers are never on trending. if they were on trending, no other scratchers would reach it. Also, please keep making games because they are really good.

It's not by followers, it does it by each project. Because @Brad-Games's new mario game didn't get on trending, but his countdown project did. one reason may be that: trending shows the projects which have got the most likes/faves/views in the shortest time, so if the one with 2000 views was made in, say, 2015, it will have got its views from 2015 to now, while say the one at the top was made a few days ago, 240 views in a few days is more than 2000 in 5 years. on popular, it has the projects that has got the most likes/faves/views at the top, so if you want projects that have lots of views regardless of when they were made. Good point. i think it is a mix between followers and projects on trendingIt's not by followers, it does it by each project. because mass reporters are jealous of almost everything. its fine to be jealous but dont mass report unless it actually breaks the guidelines I would say, yes this has happened a lot and I have seen it too, but when a project gets featured, it usually isn't even on trending! Yes, thats because it got less loves than the project in 24 hours.

your edit is actually a really good idea. if a project has 50+ loves it probably wont be bad, but then scratch wouldnt give us projects made by the same people on there.. its ALWAYS meme projects. some are good, but some just dont deserve it, like (i am just picking one out) Ghost dog. thats fine. THEN ANOTHER ONE called ghost dog. what. like, not saying they are bad becaues there not its just when 5 of ur projects get trending that took like 5 minutes to make it gets annoying for people who spent hours upon hours, days even to get barely 50 loves. I love memes myself but there always gets a point with too manyThat's true, so I actually like the idea of removing trending completely. There isn't a single project on trending that I would say is unique. Almost every single thing on trending is some random platformer, some meme project, or some animation that could have been created in 5 minutes At the moment, it doesn't seem as if they do represent the very best of Scratch.
What's so annoying is that the best Scratch projects never get on trending. Never. A good majority of them barely get noticed, and by the slim chance they do, they just get 50 hearts.
Scratch's project quality is rapidly decreasing because people know that they can get popular without having to put lots of effort into their projects. All Scratcher's care about is the numbers, and thus they push out something that doesn't deserve to be popular, and people appreciate them for it. So many good coders have focused on the numbers instead of quality, and thus their projects become something I don't enjoy anymore.
It's really sad to see what the trending page has done to Scratch.
Edit: what if the Explore page would show random projects with over 50 loves? So it wouldn't be possible for a project to be there for a long time.

I agree I think the countdown was not hard to make but the super mario game itself would have taken time and hard workIt's not by followers, it does it by each project. Thats the exact problem. Effort gets unnoticed.

Yes I noticed this too. But also the game was briefly on the front page, but now it isn’t, which is weird.

what about MAP parts or even project or art redraws? ;0 Honestly remixes shouldnt be on the same algorithm as main projects.
