- + . + Prologue + . + -

A wolf, dragon, fox, deer, dog, and cat were sitting in a circle, near a campfire about to go out. “It will be enough to let us survive for the day.” the cat said, and clawed at the fire. The fire didn't hurt him, and instead his touch made the fire tall again, as if it was refreshed and made stronger. “The prophecy. We have to deliver it.” the dog woofed quietly. “Yes, at one point we must.” the deer replied, looking over at the dog. “I guess you have to give a sign to nature.” the wolf said to the dragon. “I will.” the dragon nodded. She closed her eyes and thought hard, repeating the prophecy over and over. “The one who sees lands will rescue the clever from the enemy's hands. The one who possesses a dark glow might be the key to the higher snows. The one with an electric tail will suffer a fail. The one who's later than their family name will be unsafe from a gang. The one who faces the winter breeze will set the fire free. And the one who makes the thunder halt will have powers in their hooves harder than asphalt.” the dragon said to the plants and trees.

- + . + Chapter 1 + . + -

It was a normal day.

A normal day at a normal camp.

Little did the members know they were among the most unusual camp, with the ‘misfits’ of groups.

The most unusual yet unnoticed were:
Enchanted, the fairy dragon who suffers from a syndrome,
Flora, the darkest sun fox,
Twilight, the white dawn wolf,
Snow, the frostdog who isn't immune to ice but to fire,
Nova, the TelosCat who cursed himself,
And Lune, the unusually tall stormdeer.

The leader of the entire camp, Scout, climbed up a giant tree at dawn, and swung her head around. “Every camper, gather 'round!” she called. “Yes, leader Scout.” most members said politely, walking gracefully to the giant tree and sitting in front of it. "You have been gathered here because today.. Is a special day.“ Scout said mysteriously with a slight grin. ”You are going to be split into groups today. You strictly will not protest.“ Scout spoke in a commanding voice. ”Or you know what will happen..“ the cat growled in a low voice. ”Co-Leader Nebula will tell you your assigned groups, you may go now.“ Scout jumped off the giant tree, landing perfectly on her paws and walking away. The camp members walked in a single-file line to where Co-leader Nebula was sitting. ”TelosCat Note, sun fox Clover, fairy dragon Glow, stormdeer Flicker, frostdog Freeze, and dawn wolf Nectar, Group One." she said. A black TelosCat with grey stripes nodded his head. 'That must be that ‘Note’ TelosCat.' Flora thought to herself. A honey yellow sun fox with orange spots on her tail followed Note. 'And that must be Clover.' A grey frostdog with crystal-like icicles down his tail and a dark blue deer walked together. 'Freeze and Lune, I think.' “Hi.” Freeze woofed quietly at Flora. Flicker smiled at her. Flora gave a fake smile, but it looked like a real smile. She had been practicing for about 3 years, after all. A reddish-brown fairy dragon with a purple neck tuft hurried after them. 'And that has got to be Glow. But where's Nectar?' Suddenly, a blonde dawn wolf raced after them, tripping on a root at one point, flipping backwards. He somehow landed on his paws, but did it very clumsily. 'That's Nectar, he seems a bit skittish.' Flora ran to him in a flash, and violently poked him, but not hurting him. Nectar gave a surprised yip and kicked up sand in Flora's face, sprinting faster than Flora ever saw. Without thinking, she ran back to the animals, taking her place again. “TelosCat Peach, sun fox Pearl, fairy dragon Pool, stormdeer Lightning, frostdog Lichen, and dawn wolf Gold, Group Two.” Co-leader Nebula said, and the group ran so fast, Flora couldn't pick up any details, and was starting to zone out. After 15 minutes passed, she heard her name. “..va, sun fox Flora, fairy dragon Enchanted, stormdeer Lune, frostdog Snow, and dawn wolf Twilight, Group Six.” Co-leader Nebula said with a tired sigh. Flora trotted out of the line, and a white wolf with black ears and a black circle on her head walked up. “Hi, you must be Twilight.” Flora uttered, examining Twilight. 'Pink eyes, pink upside down triangle markings below eyes, black ears, black bottom of tail, pink streak on tail, has a circle on forehead.' Flora repeated the thought to herself. A brown fairy dragon with purple, translucent, wings walked up. His neck fur was a mossy green, and he had some light purple scales. His curved horns were a dark, jade, green, and his eyes were lavender purple. “Are you Flora?” Twilight asked. “Yes, I am.” Flora replied, unsure if she should get close to the wolf. “I'm Enchanted.” the dragon said. A dark navy blue stormdeer with white antlers and stripes down her back came running up. A crescent moon shaped marking on her left eye stood out. “Hi, I'm Lune!” she exclaimed. A frostdog came running up to them, and accidentally ran into Lune, sending them both tumbling. Lune didn't look mad or scared, but she laughed. The frostdog got off him, giving Flora the chance to examine him. 'Teal icicle things, black fur, white spots that look like snowflakes, and dark blue front legs. He also has indigo blue eyes.' “Are you the frostdog Snow?” Lune asked. “Yep!” the frostdog, Snow, yipped gleefully. A brown TelosCat came up to them, not saying a word. Flora simply examined him. 'Brown, left side of face is grey, and back legs have silver stripes, and white streaks on short tail that look like rain. Also has blue eyes.' When he noticed Flora, he just said “Nova.” blankly. “Well, c'mon. Better go get into the cabin.” Nova grumbled, and started walking to their cabin. After two minutes, they arrived and went inside. Nova found a lightning-proof bed first thing, and yelled, "Front left bed is MINE!“ Flora climbed onto the top of the bed right behind Nova. ”Middle left bed is my bed!“ Flora said loudly, flopping down on it. Twilight charged in, leaping onto the back right bed in one bound. ”Back right bed is now mine!" she howled.

- + . + Chapter 2 + . + -

It had been two months after the cabins were assigned. Enchanted woke up, and instead of in his bed, he was on a log in a seemingly endless ocean. 'This isn't right!' The ocean suddenly shrank, and the world went black for a second. Then, the dragon saw the night sky, and his vision flickered back to his world, where he fell asleep. He looked around, and saw Snow on his bed. “Aah!” Enchanted screeched, jumping backwards and off of the bed, catching himself right when he was about to hit the floor. “You scared me, Snow!” Enchanted growled playfully, climbing back onto his bed. Snow laughed, and playfully put his paw on the dragon's head. “I was given exactly enough time to climb up your bed and sit down!” the dog shook his head. “I woke up near an ocean. Probably just the weird thing about me that got me flung over here.” Enchanted shrugged. “Well, let's go get breakfast. We're ten minutes late.” Snow mentioned, and leapt off the bed. Enchanted stood up, and backed down into a crouch, preparing to fly. He jumped off, and saw he was flying. He flew to Snow, and folded his wings again. “Ack!” he gasped and accidentally fell down, tumbling down the hill his cabin was atop. "Oh, so that's what you wanna do? Okay, sure!“ Snow yipped playfully, tumbling down with Enchanted. When the dragon finally got down the hill, he groaned and got up. ”Let's continue.“ he murmured, walking to the campfire place, where they ate. Snow got a big chunk of honey covered meat, and Enchanted ate some mint. ”Wanna go climb some boulders?“ Snow asked after they had eaten. ”Sure." Enchanted said, looking at him with a smile.

- + . + Chapter 3 + . + -

Nova yawned and stretched, examining the room. Sure enough, he had woken up in the middle of the night. Suddenly, he felt a shock. The shock rippled through his body, and amazingly, he didn't flinch or freeze. 'My stupid electric tail. Reminds me of how selfish I am.' He scoffed, and stepped off of his bed. 'Perhaps I'll go on a walk.' Going to the exit, he made sure nobody was awake. Stepping out of the stuffy cabin, he tasted the dewy, night wind. 'Seems nice-' Nova thought before his thoughts got scrambled, messy, and mixed up. Walking down the hill, he just looked at the beauty of the land. Not bothering to look around when he heard a bush rustle or a stick snap, he continued down the hill. He saw a creature rush by in the corner of his eye. 'Danger, I guess. Better look.' Nova focused his eyes on the figure, walking at the same pace. He gasped when suddenly it lunged at him. Observing it for a second, he recognised the cat, but forgot her name. It was a tan cat with black circles around her eyes, black ears, black paws, and a striped tail. He hadn't seen this cat a lot. “Get. Off. Me!” Nova hissed at her, biting the cat's leg as it was the only place that was within his touch. She shrieked, and shook her leg. Nova kept a firm grip on her leg, hanging on until he finally got tired. When his body forced him off, he saw that blood was all over her leg, and a faint trail of blood followed behind her. She hissed as she limped away, almost falling over. 'We now know who's evil.' Nova let out a small moan, and saw a small cut on his shoulder. 'That would've been ten times easier if I had the venom element!' He checked the sky, and saw that it was a dark red. 'Time to go back.' Nova hurried up the hill, and ran into his cabin, flopping down on his bed, pretending to be in a deep sleep. Somehow, he fell asleep and knew it because when he woke up, Snow was on his bed. Snow always got on the bed of whoever awoke two minutes or more late for breakfast. “C'mon!” Snow gleefully woofed, his tail wagging. “Fine, hyper-barking-woof-woof dog.” Nova said grumpily. 'But who was that cat?'

- + . + Chapter 4 + . + -

Snow ran to the campfire place, Nova walking along slowly. The dog took a piece of steak from the pile of food, and dipped the steak in some honey, putting some mint on the honey to make it stick. Nova only ate a roasted slice of steak, and immediately went back. When Snow had gotten back to the cabin, he saw Twilight, Nova, Enchanted, Lune, and Flora talking. “Hi, Snow!” Lune spoke happily, looking at him. "We're just talking about something that happened last night.“ Lune's happy tone faded into a serious one. ”So, I was just saying how I saw a random cat who attacked me, that's all.“ Nova said blankly, no expression on his face. The six talked throughout the day until evening, when Snow heard Scout on the Giant Tree, calling everyone. The group walked to the Giant Tree obediently. ”I have an important announcement to make, this year is one of the most special!“ Scout declared boldly. ”You are all taking the assessment, it will start tomorrow. Be prepared, as this is major on your progress and reputation! Now, you may go." Scout finished, and leapt off the tree. Snow gulped nervously. 'Doesn't seem like any normal assessment. Is this a life or death kind of assessment?' “I don't think that this is any normal assessment, I'll say why when we get back into our cabin.” Snow told the five other animals around him, as they walked back to their cabin. When they entered, Snow and Enchanted checked to see if it was safe. After all, Group Three was a bit skittish after the sixth week from when everyone was put into groups, most likely from being punished. “Alright, it's safe.” Enchanted said, clearly concerned. "Well, Scout said it was special. That means it can't be easy, like those ones where we hop over fallen trees and hunt. Those assessments probably were meant to train us up for this big assessment.“ Snow said. Enchanted nodded, Twilight gestured for him to continue talking. ”So, this assessment will be-“ Snow stopped when he heard pawsteps. ”Nebula!? What are you-“ Nova stood up and hissed at the cat who came in. Sure enough, it was Nebula. ”Scout told me to tell everyone to go to sleep. It's for the assessment.“ she spoke. ”But why do we need to go to sleep?“ Lune asked, pretending to be dumbfounded. She shot a glance at the others, a signal that she was faking it and trying to get information about the assessment. ”Well, you can't do something important without lots and lots of good sleep, can you?“ Nebula said brightly and walked out. ”That didn't go well.“ Lune sighed in a defeated voice. ”I guess we're going to bed, nighty-night better sleep nice." The animals cautiously slipped into their beds.

- + . + Chapter 5 + . + -

Lune quickly lifted her head up when she woke up. Instead of being in the cabin, she was in a deep and thick forest. The others were with her, and they were in one big tent. “Wake up.” Lune whispered. Twilight and Flora opened their eyes, and looked around. “Where-” Flora started. “We're in a tent in the forest. Nebula or Scout or both of them moved us here.” Lune answered. “But how will we survive?” Twilight asked. Enchanted's eyes shot open. "Wait, this is our assessment?“ he wondered, saying it quickly. ”I think the goal is to get out of the forest. And that will be tough.“ Flora responded. ”I can't make a clear image of this forest.“ Enchanted groaned. Nova yawned, and when his eyes were the slightest bit open, he quickly sat up. ”Oh, so this is our assessment?“ It was obvious that for once, Nova was dumbfounded. ”Wake up!“ he yelled, and Snow jumped up, awake. ”You scared me! And this assessment is scaring me!“ Snow complained. ”We have to get started, now come along!“ Nova bolted out the tent. Lune looked around, observing the forest. The other four animals walked out. ”We'll take turns of who's in the lead, me first.“ Twilight declared, and started walking to the middle of nowhere. ”Well, I guess we're one step closer to finishing this assessment.“ Lune whispered. ”Enchanted, use your power-speaking-thing.“ Flora demanded. ”Alright.“ Enchanted replied, and paused with his eyes closed. A minute passed, and he was done. ”I'll lead the way now. I only remember one part though. Sorry.“ the dragon announced, stepping in front of Twilight. The group headed north, and when they came across a boulder, Enchanted made the group go west. On the way to their destination, Snow started a conversation. ”So, why is the assessment about escaping a forest? I don't remember this being a survival camp.“ Snow thought out loud. ”It's probably a survival camp, Scout just didn't bother telling us.“ Flora replied, looking over at Snow. The rest of the way, they were silent. When they finally reached the destination, Enchanted was slightly panting. ”I know this, I can get us close to the exit!" Lune blurted out excitedly, hurrying to the front of the line. Guiding them northwest, she seemed to be doing her duty as the leader well. Lune looked around every ten minutes, and listened for danger.

- + . + Chapter 6 + . + -
They were almost there.
Almost at the end of the forest.
When it started to rain down.

Everyone was walking slowly and most of them were weary. Lune was somehow more energized than she was before it rained. Twilight groaned halfway to the destination, where Lune found them shelter. It was a nice, shady, cave. “Enough to let us sleep.” Nova uttered. “Come on in.” Lune stepped into the cave, and so did everyone else. “This is only for a break, not sleeping.” Lune added. The group rested for half an hour, and then continued on the journey out of the forest. “I'll take the lead.” Nova declared, and stepped in front of Lune. “Follow, follow.” he added. Smelling the damp yet fresh air, he picked up a faint scent trail of Scout. “I found a scent, keep up or else.” Nova looked at his groupmates before running in the direction of where the scent came from. The others hurried behind him, not stopping. It took a few hours, but they were finally there.

Out of the forest.

“Look, we're out of the forest.” Snow's eyes gleamed. “We passed it! We passed our assignment!” Lune said joyfully. “I knew it!” Twilight yipped. Nova just smiled in satisfaction.

They sat through the night.
Together.
And know, they are never alone.
Destined to stay together forever.
And they still continue to be together, as grown creatures.
But it’s not over yet.
They still have more years to come, don’t they?
