filterbot sandbox
give us access to the filterbot sandbox
sometimes people say they get muted for stuff that isn't very believable and I want to fact check that without having to worry about getting banned
bad scratchers could use it to find loopholes in the filterbot but I'm guessing good scratchers would find those first, get them fixed, and no problem or people would report bad scratchers comments and they get fixed
so yeah

Where would the filterbot sandbox be? Would it be private if not that would be exposure to quite a few bad words? I would like this however as I was unsure whether certain thing were in the filter and it would be also useful for swear words in other languages to be added as people can see what words aren't picked up then contact the Scratch Team if any important ones aren't.
Edit: I though of some negatives. A lot more questions and public reporting could occur if the responsible method of reporting issues with rude words is not mentioned. It could also cause a lot of why isn't * censored or d*mn, frick etc.(censored because of the way the forum filter works)

No support. On the other hand, it could expose kids to bad words.

how, all it is is a place you can put words or phrases and see if filterbot doesn't like it No support. On the other hand, it could expose kids to bad words.

Where would this sandbox be? Account settings? I don't see where it'd fit in with the rest of the website.

Ohhhhhhh. I thought you meant to do a list of words.how, all it is is a place you can put words or phrases and see if filterbot doesn't like it No support. On the other hand, it could expose kids to bad words.

No support.
Imagine if meow was a bad word, and then a bad user wants to post it, and goes to the sandbox, tries miow, miau, meovv… Until they find me-uvv is not filtered and type it.

Sorry, you have to wait 60 seconds between posts.

I'm sorry, but no support. I don't feel like this would fit in with the rest of the website, and someone bent on cursing or saying something bad is more likely to find a loophole than some random Scratcher with some spare time.

Support but maybe we could make it so you have to tell people if you find a glitch

Uhh… Sorry for late bump. In the sandbox, there should be a button that lets you directly report issues with the filter to the Scratch Team. For example, if “cat” was a bad word and you typed “c at” and the filter didn’t trigger, you could directly report that through a button. The report option should have two options: “incorrectly filtered” or “should be filtered”. Since the filter for comments is stricter, it should turn orange if it’s filtered in comments only and turn red if it’s filtered in both comments and titles/instructions/N&C.
Overall, semi-support, because people could use this to find ways to bypass the filter, but it would be a useful resource for other people.

No support. Although Scratchers who know a lot of bad words will input them to see if the filterbot isn't happy about them, bad Scratchers can use it to bypass the filter.

Maybe a list of words in a txt file on Scratch-WWW GitHub, or a JSX or a json file? “/src/filterbot/filterbot.(file)”

Pretty sure we're not going to do this for security - and potential exposure to inappropriate content - reasons.
