My scratch project won't save?!

Hey there scratchers
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Is this just me or is it happening elsewhere?
I have recorded an audio roughly 2 minutes long and my project won't save.
I have recorded more than 2 minutes audio in other projects I have made.
What is going on? Is this a bug or does my computer need updating?
Also, is anybody else experiencing this? Because the project I'm making needs to save for this contest I'm in and I really don't want to lose my audio!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have downloaded my project to my computer for JUST-IN-CASE reasons. Is there anything else I should do?
Help..
I need help, please!

I wouldn't be able to tell you specifically why it saved one time and not the other, but I can tell you that this is easily worked around.

The problem here is that you've run into one of the project size limits that Scratch has (these are intentional limits meant to prevent people from using too much space on Scratch servers, as this space is limited and costs money) - specifically, the limit that is important here is that no asset (an asset is a sound or a costume) can be over 10 MB in size. You can get around this by doing one of the following:
  • Use a smaller piece of the music that is under 10 MB.
  • Split the music into chunks that are less than 10 MB each.
  • Convert the music into MP3, which takes up less space. If you do not have software on your computer that can convert music into MP3, there are online converters - my personal recommendation is Zamzar.
Note that if you do the last one, you may not be able to edit the sound in Scratch's audio editor, because of this:

An important note: If you convert a large WAV file (over 10 MB) into MP3, you will not be able to edit it in the Scratch sound editor. This is because the sound editor turns MP3s back into WAVs when you edit them, and if the resulting WAV would be over 10 MB, the edit will fail.
You can get around this by doing your editing in an external audio editor (the one in Scratch Desktop will work, as the size limits do not apply to it), and then converting to MP3.

(Note that the following is my signature - it appears automatically below all of my posts. You can tell where a post ends and where a signature starts because there is a grey line separating them. To get your own signature, follow the instructions here.)

This might be because the scratch project is bigger then 5 mb, probably because of the recording.

There is no blanket limit on overall project size. Instead, there are two limits on the size of certain parts of the project, which you can read about here.
