Is Whitehat Jr. a Scratch ripoff?

Recently I've been getting ads on youtube for a website called Whitehat Jr, and surprisingly, the blocks are very similar to Scratch. Kinda like Barclays code playground. Not only that, but there's also a javascript mode and Whitehat Jr. is a coding class!

No, it's not.
Appinventor & Code.org aren't scratch ripoffs.
They are just using Google's Blockly creation, like scratch does.

It's like saying everyone is ripping off scratch's terms of use by making their own.

you can't really call something a scratch rip off, scratch is open source software which uses other open source softwares.

it looks like that is using blockly, which is something scratch also uses. funnily enough, its quite possible that blockly was inspired by scratch, and now scratch uses blockly as a base for a lot of its code.

disclaimer: sometimes my posts are pretty critical of the scratch team (especially my older ones), but i really do

scratch & scratch team. jvvg made a short essay thing about the scratch team, which is a pretty good read, if you want a different perspective for the scratch team's actions.

I know that teachers make a child learn nicely and their software is also copied by scratch only.

I feel so, also, as I know both Scratch and python, I feel it's a combination of both.

And to be honest, they are exaggerating it very much in the ads. They're like “Change the world from coding”, and in another one of the ads, they were like “We'll learn coding, teach it to everyone and save the world” XD

Their ads are like coding is the only thing which is left to lear in the world

Almost all Block programming language after 2.0 era are always dependent on blockly. But the best thing i can say is its just an inspiration and feel free to use it but i recommend you to go in a non payed and self thought method to do things. So just use scratch. Also they are not a pioneer in all these things offcourse many MIT Projects were the real starter of these things that ad is surely for making the parents to use those payed tools. You can also use MIT App Inventor, Scratch and Blockly apps (now there are 100s of different projects)
Also rip off is not the best way to describe this as already things are open source. Also, many people made their own engines but they should be definitely taking inspiration from scratch. But some things like Turbowarp and Sheeptester (Eyangiques) are definitely a mod or you can see remix.
Imagine you remixing somebody elses project and do you think that is a ripoff.
