"Basic Applied Mathematics" Tutorial Videos
Hi folks!
I'm excited to be sharing a new project creating math tutorials for a basic applied mathematics class! It's called Advanced Mathematical Decision Making (AMDM), which I'll sometimes dub as the “IRL Maths Class”.
Why am I doing this? I've been thinking about becoming a teacher for quite a bit of time. This class seems like an easy class, and, in my opinion, this is a pretty fun class to take. Since I have a bit more free time due to quarantine, I felt it would be cool to try out my skills, especially in today's virtual world where the majority of our time is spent watching people do stuff. Some people have the need to watch at their own pace - during times when they're “in the zone” to learn stuff because they weren't in the virtual class.
I also find that many high school mathematical classes fail to explain the nuts and bolts of why we're doing what we need to do. Granted some things are more easier to explain than others, but a lack of clarity in certain things can leave many students confused. I want to find a way to prevent that in my own teachings.
The Course
So, what exactly does this course encompass? It's an algebra based course for high school students that's designed to get a feel for mathematical applications in the real world. This builds off of the Algebra II course (that is, you should have taken or are taking Algebra II when you start this course). As of now, the units are as follows:
Interested?
Great! I welcome you to my YouTube channel (which I will post eventually) to hop in and watch! I'll be using this thread to post updates if people are interested.
For now, can you tell me what helps you when it comes to learning maths? I'll be recording videos soon so I want to incorporate some of that feedback into my teachings.
Thanks everyone! I look forward to hearing your feedback once I start posting videos.
