If you don't already know, I am a HUGE Minecraft fan. Yesterday, it was confirmed that Notch, the game's creator, has sold Mojang to Microsoft.

Edit: This topic is old. We all know that Microsoft bought Mojang and we have to accept that. Since the date of the original post, Microsoft has done a few things with Minecraft, such as creating the Minecraft Windows 10 Beta Edition on the Windows Store and using the game to demo the HoloLens at the E3 2015. Post your thoughts about this below

I say that Microsoft won't have the time to edit updates in Minecraft anytime soon, so don't think that Minecraft is forever changed (Thank you Tzeentch. -_-). The only changes I think will happen is new editions for other consoles, which won't hurt, right?

Notch didn't die you know. He said he'll still be making more games he just hates how big Minecraft got and how he was “turning into a symbol” not a person so he quit. He didn't like that he wasn't so close to the players anymore. It's what I would have done.

Although, this does mean I'm not buying any more Microsoft products based solely on principle.

Also, MS Word and Minecraft are completely different things; just owned by the same company.

Mojang is now uber-rich, and Microsoft knows to leave that department alone in order not to totally ruin their reputation - the difference is a few Microsoft changes (such as Live integration perhaps?) and their logo on the front.

Microsoft doesn't develop Minecraft.
Bill Gates never worked for Microsoft. He was the CEO until he stepped down but he kept most of the company.

I agree, but I wonder what microsoft is really going to do. There has to be a reason why Microsoft did this.
