There's a big glitch near the end of this game which can force you to delete your save data.

It was discovered just a couple of days ago, but it's affecting many people. Because the explanation of this glitch contains some minor spoilers, here's an article outlining what exactly the glitch is. All I'll say right now is that it happens in Shangri-Spa, just so you know where it is before you accidentally activate it. If you're affected by the glitch, then you'll be unable to progress and will have to do one of two things:

Delete your save data. The glitch happens very far into the game, so it will be painful to delete all of your save data. Unfortunately, once the glitch happens, the game automatically saves, so you have to start all over from the beginning.
Wait for Nintendo to patch the glitch. The story of this glitch has spread to several news sources, and Nintendo has also been notified of its existence. If you don't want to restart your game from the beginning, the only way you can keep your data is by simply waiting. However, there's no real way of knowing just how much time will pass before it gets passed. It could be fixed by today, or it could take multiple weeks.
If you haven't progressed far enough to reach the area in which the glitch occurs, make sure you know how to prevent it. The article explains how the glitch occurs, so in order to get around it, you need to make sure you don't accidentally activate it.

My brother found out about this glitch yesterday, and we found the article linked above soon after. He's decided to delete his save data and restart the game from the beginning, and it's working out for him. Hopefully, the glitch will be fixed in the near future so that the people who are unfortunate enough to have come across it won't need to delete their save data.
