now scratch is a coding website it should NOT be a place for politics now i know im in trump supporters clubs but still. now im not saying you cant make a project about blm but just dont post it on the front page for everyone to see because once again, THIS IS A CODING WEBSITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why can't they put a BLM project on the front page? The fact that this is a coding site seems irrelevant.

So? People can express their opinions through coding, and the ST supports it.

This may be a coding website, but it's important that people are educated about what's going on around them, so it doesn't take them by surprise at an older age. BLM should not be political. Black lives matter, and that's it. People shouldn't need to argue with that statement. Addressing racism and saying that Black lives matter should not be, and is not, wrong in any way, and as I said, should not be made into a political discussion.

For one, it's their website, and no one can tell them what to do; they are authority figures. Second, the topic on Black Lives Matter was to support and bring comfort to people racially harassed. Without it, many users would feel insecure. Third, Wiki Wednesday is not run by the Scratch Team, but it promotes activity in Scratch Wiki. Without it, people would go inactive.

There's more to the website than simply coding. There's also the community. Yes, it is primarily a coding website, but if users are harassing people just simply because of the melanin their skin produces, and the Scratch Team does nothing about it, how good of moderators would they be? Scratch Camp, rules and regulations, Wiki Wednesday, etc….all these topics have a purpose, and are necessary to appear on the front page. If you do not like them, then do not read the announcements.

What I think they mean is Scratch is escapism from all the horrible, violent and nasty things happening in real life.

No one can stop people to coding a thing that isn't about coding. If that's the case, there should be no games in Scratch.

It still seems like the ST is trying to make us follow their political point of view, and I’ve seen people calling others ignorant because they didn’t support blm.

Personally my views match with the ST but it seems like some poeple’s beliefs are being shunned. Remember the community guidelines?

When sharing projects or posting comments, remember that people of many different ages and backgrounds will see what you’ve shared.

Isn't it disrespectful to say, for example:

LGBTQ is stupid (please note I do not aggree with any of these examples, they are examples)

I'm going to expand on this. If someone who was LGBTQ+ saw someone else say it was stupid, they will be extremely offended and they wouldn't feel welcome on this website. So they're not going to join, because who in their right mind would in this situation? The same goes for not supporting BLM. People need to feel welcome, and any opinions that aren't that will be removed.
