So, what IS a New Scratcher? And, why do they have the “New Scratcher” status??“ When you first join Scratch you might see that in your profile it says ”New Scratcher“. I know it's kind of annoying. First, I want to tell you why the ”New Scratcher“ status even exists.

The reason why they have the ”New Scratcher“ status is so that Scratch knows you're a person, not a bot trying to hack Scratch. If they just became Scratchers the second they joined, Scratch probably wouldn't exist because of bots. So, yes, the ”New Scratcher" status might be annoying, but it's actually pretty helpful. Even famous Scratchers were once not able to have the luxuries of Full Scratchers.

Okay, so WHAT is the difference between Full and New Scratchers??
New Scratchers have to:
~ Wait at least 30 seconds between comments.
~ Wait for at least 120 seconds between forum posts.
~ Not use cloud variables until they are a Full Scratchers. If you are confused about the wording, they don't have a choice to use cloud variables.

Full Scratchers can/have to:
~ Post comments whenever they like, without waiting between posts.
~ Wait 30 seconds between forum posts.
~ Use cloud variables and play multiplayer games with friends if they use the same link.

I know all you New Scratchers are desperate to become Full Scratchers. Here are a few ways to become a Full Scratcher fast:
1. The most important one: be on Scratch for at least two weeks. If you don't meet this requirement, then you can't become a Full Scratcher yet, no matter how much you do the things listed below.
2. Visit the forums and have about 1-5 posts (or more, if possible!). This is optional, but it really helps!
3. Post at least 2 projects.
4. Post nice/respectful comments, and love/favorite other's projects.
5. Generally, be helpful around the site. If people have a question about making a project/anything Scratch-related, make sure to help them.
6. If you use someone else's thing (such as a sprite or sound from their project), make sure to give credit. This rule also applies if you get an image from your web browser. Make sure to not steal. Don't bully others, too.

This is pretty much all you need to do. After you get approved, there should be a link on your profile saying Become A New Scratcher! Click it, read the guidelines, and there you have it! You're now a Full Scratcher! I became a Full Scratcher in exactly 2 weeks because I did all the things above. If you do everything, then you'll most likely only have to wait for about two weeks. I hope this helped!!
