It really depends on how active you are; you aren't promoted until you have a decent amount of activity on the site. Sharing projects is especially important, so make sure you do that.

I thought that you could click the Mark All Topics as Read button.

Well sure, that will mark them as read if there are threads that you haven't read but don't care to. What does that have to do with your account's activity though?

People ussually say the rule of thumb would be
100 posts on forums
5 good quality Projects
On for a month

But I don't quite agree because it ussually depends on exactly how active you are

Supposedly if you met the requirements, you'd have to wait for the system to refresh or something, and pressing the button refreshes it or something.

I'm not sure, but he met the requirements a while ago, and instead of waiting for 24 hours, pressing it helped?

I don't really know…

Yes you need at least 1, otherwise, the forums would not count you in as a member of the forums.

That was only true on the old forums. On the new site, the Scratcher status is site-wide, not just on the forums, so the forum activity does not matter. Also, on the old site, you only needed to visit the forums, not register there, in order to become a member.

something about

1. topic created (this counts)

2. 3 months on? maybe 1 or 2, but somewhere around there

3. some shared projects (maybe at least 5-20?)

I was looking at the source code for the old website, and having created a topic has nothing to do with it. I doubt this has changed, as this status is designed to make sure you use the actual site and aren't just there to abuse the forums.
On the old site, there were only three criteria, and you must meet a certain number for all three to be promoted:
-Number of days since you first visited the forums
-Number of projects
-Number of comments
It also checked the last visit data of your account to make sure it visited the forums within a certain amount of time running the promotion script.

However, on the new site, I believe the criteria are the same, except that the first is since you registered, not when you first visited the forums.

No, it's not rude. It's for everyone's protection against hackers, trolls.
