Can you remix your own project? If so, how?

You don't remix, you just make the changes and you save it. At least, that's what I think.

So then there is no real build in revision system. so I cannot revert to a previous version if I do not have my own system of revisioning offline

What you could do is save all your sprites for one project and then make a new project, download your sprites and then make the changes you want. Yeah, it's a pain, but that's the only way I know

Another way you could do it is make 2 accounts and remix your own through your 2nd account but that sucks because then it doesn't say that the project is yours

Go to file>save a copy or something like that and you'll have a copy of the project. Idk if it says “remixed from” but you'll have two separate copies.
